Can you guys imagine HOW so damn fuckin' amazing party we're surely gonna have in Holland on the 29th of June???

warmed up by such great bands?
    with our favourite rock band?
among one of the best crowds;) in the world?
    in friendly Nijmegen?
    in a park?
    in the summertime?
in the biggest PJ "show for only fans" this year?
at the last but one show which is always the best one concerning to Eddie's spech last year?

....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....I cannot really express by words how unforgettably beautiful and fantastic the Arnhem show was last year (first row on Stone's side:D) so my expectations are absolutely great about an open air PJ show close to Gelredome:)
If you ask me: Poland and Nijmegen might be the most memorable shows this year for not just the fans but the band as well...Don't forget about the Polish fans:D

you may be right but for me the honest enthusiasm, loudness and friendly attention to others are both pretty important and that's what you get from the crowd in Poland and Holland (these have been my experiences so far). Unfortunately I have not been to Lisszabon/Lisboa/Lisbon but next year I would like to spend at least two weeks there! But after all those PJ shows and festivals I've got to stop spending money on almost everything:)
London is a different case...but I am sure noone will be disappointed in any of their shows and will feel THAT certain show could not be topped by an other one... and that's when they will be suprised:)!!!

euh...London, Copenhagen.. smaller venues, more fanatical crowds..special towns in relation to the band history..

but I'm sure Nijmegen will be great..Poland might..but the opening acts are going to put a damper.,,hope they make up for it.

Are you saying that Holland is not special in relation to the band history??? Remember pinkpop 1992?

People keep talking about gigs in Holland and saying how 'friendly' the crowds are and how receptive they are. I've never been to a gig in Holland, is everyone really that nice? Will people look after each other in the crowd? I don't want there to be another Paris '06 crowd experience.

  • Sorry if this has been asked already, Is it possible to get a train after the show back to Amsterdam?

Also, how costly are the tickets for the train ride? Thanks

I was second row Mike's side at last year's Arnhem show. There was plenty of jostling but I never felt really unsafe. Mike's side is always more physical anyway.

And, perhaps you will see some of these nice chaps from Arnhem in Nijmegen:

to be perfectly honest, I think Pinkpop 92 is special to fans, mostly through the video ...not necessarily to the band.

    Copenhagen, I don't need explaining.
and London, well, if only for the fact it's as close as it gets to a fan club show, plus they're likely to have quite a few friends in attendance (which is probably why there won't be a show on the 19th, despite the gap in the schedule).

I don't say that Nijmegen won't be good, just that a priori, it's nothing 'special' compare to those places.

that said, the places I expected to be special last year mostly turned out to be not so (Verona, Athens, Pistoia, Paris because of the date)..so go figure

Your signature suggests you have not seen PJ in Holland!!! Getting and listenning to Arnhem bootleg is highly recommendable for U to stop saying ridiculous things like PJ shows in the Netherlands are NOT EXTRAORDINARY for the band themselves! Eddie recalled his memories about the faithful Dutch crowd and clubs they used to play and praised them a few times!!!
And what about Rotterdam 1992 show...??? That dvd is even better than the absolutely brilliant PINKPOP! Exactly that one is my biggest PJ treasure despite its poor quality!!!!!!!!!

But as I have written I am sure London and all the other shows are gonna be special...because our favourite band will amaze us as much as they can!!!!!!!

I think it's every fan for themselves :) but imo I doubt everybody anywhere will be nice, I don't have much experience seeing PJ in other countries, but Arnhem was a better experience compared to Antwerp, crowd wise. But that simply might be that things were better organized.

But with 3 opening acts that I'd like to see, it being summer and in a park, yeah I'm looking forward to it!

Oh yeah, i'm definitely looking forward to it! If it's a nice day then even better!

Does anyone know how many people the park can hold for a gig?

As many as the # of tickets sold, I can't find exact numbers anywhere, I'd guess max about 50.000 but doubt they will reach that..

This is the park: http://www.goffertpark-nijmegen.nl/pics/plattegrond.jpg it's the center field called 'speelweide'

I had a seating ticket and most of the fans beside me in Antwerp were boring! They were only standing up and singing when songs of Ten and Vs. were played.

I have to stand up for my fellow countrymen.
it is true that compared to dutchmen belgians aren't that loud :)
but that is not because they boring or aren't impressed but because we want to hear the music. it is not without a reason that big bands keep on coming back to a small county like belgium, artists feel the respect op stage that their fans send them.
I work in a belgian musicclub that often has dutch visitors (http://www.n9.be) so i can think i can compare. the moment that dutchmen enter the club the silience is gone until they're gone (which can be irritating for a quiet small gig)i'm not speaking in general and I'm sure there are exceptions.

may I add that the biggest (and loudest) belgian fans didn't had seating tickets in antwerp, they were freaking out on mike's side!

this is true and so annoying! but ill hand it to the belgians, never seen a better crowd (besides barcelona) then the belgians! we dutchys suck!
the goosebump moment in antwerp (after Black) could never happen in Holland..

I really felt Arnhem could NOT have been better (they started with my absolute favourite song: RELEASE for example)...but Antwerpen the other day was such a brilliant show with quite a loud crowd as well...I didn't feel the same comfort and safety in mosh pit experienced in Holland but if you ask me Sportpaleis concert was EVEN a little bit better and the band was indeed even more mesmerized by the crowd's fantastic reaction: at the end of Black Eddie simpyl started to cry...and he was crying once more that night...so I suppose it might be pretty great to be Eddie Vedder himself singing in Holland and Belgium;) And if I remember correctly Belgium was the first territory where Eddie promised their comeback to Europe ;) I am terribly sad we cannot be there in Werchter but for a Hungarian underpaid poor teacher like me 4 PJ shows in 4 pretty fantastic countries are still more one can expect:cool:

I really loved the Arnhem PJ crowd if it means something...you Dutch fans seemed to me polite and gentle but still pretty enthusiastic...you can be proud of yourselves to pack a huge venue like Gelredome!!! And btw organising seemed way more professional in Holland than in Belgium...I wish I could turn back time...:)
