For example, Decides2Dream only collects shows she has attended (which are lots) but she won't get boots for good shows...even if they exist...
Also, each of her boots are kept in a beautiful jewelcase with all the artwork perfectly in place..
So let's here it.. what kind PJ bootlegger are you?..
now you KNOW this is not entirely true. especially since you are a major contributor to my 'boot collection' for shows i have not attended. i have many generous pj buddies who have sent me boots/dvds as gifts...so i have quite a collection of boots with sharpie markings and in cd envelopes. however, yes.....i do NOT actively seek out/desire boots for shows i was not present. i like to have that 'emotional connection'.....but sure, i even bought the mansfield 2003 boot b/c i heard such good things and came across the boot in a store.
however, yes...it IS my preference to have them in actual cases with all the artwork, etc. hey, i was an art major...whatdya expect?
sad to say, i do NOT own all the boots for shows i've attended. i am missing irving plaza, hartford, east rutherford II, wembley, dusseldorf and nijmegen. *hint, hint*
btw - i collect posters in the same manner; only shows i've attended. it's just my nature, i KNOW myself too well and know i NEED parameters or i would simply, collect, collect, collect.....yikes!
sad to say, i do NOT own all the boots for shows i've attended. i am missing irving plaza, hartford, east rutherford II, wembley, dusseldorf and nijmegen. *hint, hint*
.....yikes!
shamless pandering...
can someone hook the girl up with a PM?
although I think I gave you hartford and ER2?
need to double check that D2D...
I can burn you those if not...
"This here's a REQUEST!"
EV intro to Chloe Dancer / Crown of Thorns
10/25/13 Hartford
wanted to see what the current batch of folks out there are doing..
Do you collect every show..?
Do you trade or hoard boots..?
For example, Decides2Dream only collects shows she has attended (which are lots) but she won't get boots for good shows...even if they exist...
Also, each of her boots are kept in a beautiful jewelcase with all the artwork perfectly in place..
I, on the other hand, put sharpy magic marker on the bare CD's with the show's info and bypass the boot artwork..
but INSIST on track listings for each and every boot I obtain..(whether its for a trade or myself)...
It's all about listening to the boots for me, as opposed to some others who collect, cherish and treat each boot as a precious artifact...
(no judgement being rendered BTW.. I understand that perspective as well! collecting is awesome too!)
So let's here it.. what kind PJ bootlegger are you?..
It's automatic that I will download every show I've been to. I also have 30 of my favourite audio shows on my computer and 41 concerts on DVD. Very little of my audio is on CD, none of it is in jewel cases or has artwork. The DVDs are just sharpie-d on and have no artwork. They're kept in a big binder with all my bootleg DVDs from other bands.
“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’” - Kurt Vonnegut
I collect boots willynilly....whatever strikes my fancy. I have all the boots from the shows i've been at but the only one that's in a jewel case with artwork (in the back of the scrapbook i made )is the from my first show.
Audio: only the ones I've attended plus the 'famous' ones.
though I've got all of Euro/Oz 06 with several US ones ..just because that was my first active tour
I started with the Euro 06 ones so I put them all in artwork and CD case.. I don't bother now. Just a backup copy on DVD-rom and the files on my PC and iRiver (direct digital output PC to receiver is just as good as a DVD player, since I don't have a CD one)
Video: mmm, I'm more of a involuntary collector: downloaded a whole bunch of randomish things when waiting for the 06 ones. Now trying to restrain myself to high quality (multicam/Proshots/venue screen) ones unless it's a show of particular interest (though Demetrios's generosity is a bad influence )
Only been watching less than a dozen of the 50+ I have though (I get bored quickly watching gigs on video for some reason)
I put them in DVD sleeves with artwork though..sits nicely next to my 500+ film DVD collection (98% I have seen othh)
if anyone want to hook me up with a Zagreb DVD though, that one will get watched no problem
same with Dusseldorf (video or better audio than the ones out there now) (I've got to get around to make that good multicam clip of Rats I've begged material for )
I have this External 500GB hd with all my pj non-video stuff. Flac, SHN, mp3,...
And of course, some official boots too.
i have 73% of all PJ shows. (i´m an Excel addict).
IS that 73% of ALL shows or just the ones that have an available source?
Cause we all know some shows werent recorded....I should say some shows there is no known source available.
Toledo, Ohio (September 22, 1996), East Troy, Wisconsin (June 26, 1998), Noblesville, Indiana (August 17, 1998), Noblesville, Indiana (August 18, 2000), Cincinnati, Ohio (August 20, 2000), Columbus, Ohio (August 21, 2000), Nashville, Tennessee (April 18, 2003), Champaign, Illinois (April 23, 2003), Noblesville, Indiana (June 22, 2003), Chicago, Illinois (May 16, 2006), Chicago, Illinois (August 05, 2007), West Palm Beach, Florida (June 11, 2008), Tampa, Florida (June 12, 2008), Columbus, OH (May 06, 2010), Noblesville, Indiana (May 07, 2010), Wrigley Field (July 19, 2013), US Bank Arena (October 01, 2014), Lexington (April 26, 2016), Chicago Night 2 (August 20, 2018), Boston Night 1 (September 02, 2018), Nashville (September 16, 2022), St. Louis (September 18, 2022)
I try to download bootlegs from 2005 and up. I have realized that I tend to download only bootlegs from Europe.
Pearl Jam is Europe-ish.
It's okay, It's okay
You don't have to run and hide away
It's okay, it's okay
I love you anyway
2007: Pearl Jam concert in Düsseldorf (21. June)
2007: Chris Cornell concert in Kristiansand (2. July)
2007: The Who concert in Kristiansand (4. July)
I collect the shows I've been to, which are only 4 at this point. But, I found a boot for the very first show I was at in Dallas 98 in Reunion Arena. I also collect boots from shows I deem as important.
For non official boots that I have downloaded I've made my own jewel case covers. I like doing that and junk.

Im still downloading some oldies, so i think i will reach 80% this weekend, but i know im getting closer to the moment when i will get stucked..(did i write this right?)

great sounding boots more than anything doesn't matter if i went or not. have a hard time listening to a boot that fades in & out & is low end or has alot of talking through from being near the taper. i enjoy looking at the artwork from my days of looking at vinyl covers....

I own about 40 boots. Enough to give me great listening when I'm on the road following PJ. I prefer to spend money on PJ shows , tour merch , and expenses associated with taking in a number of shows.

i'm a bootleg quality snob. i can't stand listening to audience recordings for some reason. i actually made one myself in 98' at the Kansas City show and it turned out really good, but too much singing from the crowd. i don't mind hearing the early 90s bootlegs, but i prefer soundboard stuff and most of my collection is either soundboard, or from radio broadacasts, or the official boots.
the first round of boots in 2000 i really wanted ones with slight of hand and garden on them and so i bought like 10 or 11 of them with one or both of those on there. also tried to get ones with cover tunes as well. of course i have boots of most of the shows i attended. 94' fox theater was the earliest and i've heard some ok boots from that show.

My friend was going to see Eddie last night. Since he was in Vegas, I gave him 5 Grand to gamble with. I told him I wanted it all to go on Black. Bastard! PhillyCrownOfThorns-11-2-12
And of course, some official boots too.
i have 73% of all PJ shows. (i´m an Excel addict).
there are people waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more nuts than me!

now you KNOW this is not entirely true. especially since you are a major contributor to my 'boot collection' for shows i have not attended. i have many generous pj buddies who have sent me boots/dvds as gifts...so i have quite a collection of boots with sharpie markings and in cd envelopes. however, yes.....i do NOT actively seek out/desire boots for shows i was not present. i like to have that 'emotional connection'.....but sure, i even bought the mansfield 2003 boot b/c i heard such good things and came across the boot in a store.
however, yes...it IS my preference to have them in actual cases with all the artwork, etc. hey, i was an art major...whatdya expect?
sad to say, i do NOT own all the boots for shows i've attended. i am missing irving plaza, hartford, east rutherford II, wembley, dusseldorf and nijmegen. *hint, hint*
btw - i collect posters in the same manner; only shows i've attended. it's just my nature, i KNOW myself too well and know i NEED parameters or i would simply, collect, collect, collect.....yikes!
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
shamless pandering...
can someone hook the girl up with a PM?
although I think I gave you hartford and ER2?
need to double check that D2D...
I can burn you those if not...

though I've got all of Euro/Oz 06 with several US ones ..just because that was my first active tour
I put them in DVD sleeves with artwork though..sits nicely next to my 500+ film DVD collection (98% I have seen othh)
if anyone want to hook me up with a Zagreb DVD though, that one will get watched no problem
same with Dusseldorf (video or better audio than the ones out there now) (I've got to get around to make that good multicam clip of Rats I've begged material for )
IS that 73% of ALL shows or just the ones that have an available source?
Cause we all know some shows werent recorded....I should say some shows there is no known source available.

For non official boots that I have downloaded I've made my own jewel case covers. I like doing that and junk.

the first round of boots in 2000 i really wanted ones with slight of hand and garden on them and so i bought like 10 or 11 of them with one or both of those on there. also tried to get ones with cover tunes as well. of course i have boots of most of the shows i attended. 94' fox theater was the earliest and i've heard some ok boots from that show.
