Now for my views...1st off..location..we were left side str8 out in front of mYike...and holy shit was he on fire,. Like many others, my sis, her bf and his bro...let's just say they all know mike really well now and I even have to admit... I'd never seen him shred it like he did last nite. We were also very close to him making it all the more fn awesome.
Oceans lead off was majestic.. It was complete darkness by now and I remember gettin hit w/ a nice cool breeze off the ocean right after they started.. It really hit the spot after the kind of hot sunny day we'd had.
Not sure why some post it was a hits set... For a fest show. There was 10+ songs the crowd was clueless.. During grievance(one of my sons favs an he's 14, Steven I miss u, mom an Carly, b home monday). I had to look far an wide to find people that were moving to it...
Gotta wrap this up. Post a better view of both shows when I'm back to a comp tues..
Very very good show... Random fans I met after that didn't really know pj were really impressed an loved it.
Can't wait for tonight to see em again.

Svenhoek,
Well, I logged in this afternoon to read the full setlist and ran across your post. Not really sure how to start into this, but I'm the guy you're talking about. I'm sorry I got in the way of the show for a few minutes - definately not what I intended or wanted. For me, yesterday started in Jacksonville at 5am. I got into Pensacola around 2pm and was in front of the stage by 2:30pm. By the time I fell (fainted, collapsed, face dived, blacked out, or whatever else seems appropriate) I just didn't have any energy left in me. They took me back and ran some tests which turned out well. I drank 3-4 bottles of water and felt a lot better. I was able to leave after sitting around for about 30 minutes.
For those who were around me and came to my aid during the show, thank you! I'm very lucky that my favorite band has a loyal following full of caring and compassionate people. It was pretty blurry for a few minutes, but I do remember a tremendous outpouring of concern and support from those around me. From the guy who yelled for everyone to "back the f##k up 5 feet right now!", to the lady who wiped my face with a wet cloth, words can never express how much I appreciate all of you being so kind to me. Again, thank you!

Great time and show in Pensacola. Looks like I picked the right festival to go to after looking at the reviews from Atlanta. I honestly chose this festival because why not go to the beach for a weekend instead of a city, I already live in a city! Yes choosing this festival was a much more expensive option between flight and hotel but much more to do during the day and was a real vacation. This was a festival show but they played as many songs as they might play during a regular show. This show went two hours and twenty five minutes and I've been to regular shows that went that long. Didn't have to fight at all to get to the front as we showed up half way though GBV's set. Everyone here was really nice.Loved being on the beach for a show. We were maybe eight people in from the stage Mike's side. I will say this not many fan club members on the beach but surprisingly had a lot of room being so close to the stage. No pushing and no shoving. Crowd was pretty tame for the band even compared to a festival show but the band was on fire. Was praying for Oceans as an opener never thought it would happen as it was a festival show and was pleasantly surprised. Happy I didn't buy VIP not worth it just like Philadelphia

I was 6 feet from rail, right in front of Mike. Fying solo, and got there at 2:15- PJ started about 9:40- LONG wait with no beer or food, but for the best view in 20 years of shows- definitely worth it!
MIKE: Thank you for the amazing performance- never been able to interact w one of the guys during a show like that- pointing, waving, smiling back- the guitar pics were raining down all night!!!!! I got 2, dude next to me got 4! Being able to see Mikes fingers up close: priceless. He absolutely shredded it.
The whole band was on point, and the scenery was beautiful- may I suggest a tour of only beach shows!?!
Highlight: I waited around and was fortunate to get the 1st page of Ed's lyric sheet for Parachutes. (Ed had 3 sheets w/ lyrics on it and let them flutter down to the stage as he finished singing the words on each one.) Printed lyrics, but handwritten notes and markings. I would like to post a pic, but I have know idea how.
Also appreciated that Deluna was donating some funds to USO and Wounded Warrior- nice that Ed mentioned this great organization- and encouraged people to help in any way they can.
During Ledbetter, a guy was making his way through the crowd w/ an American flag. He brushed past my shoulder and just to the right of me (b/w Mike and Ed about 3 feet off rail). As he crossed in front of me, I saw Mike look up from his guitar and spot the flag- a few moments later, he broke into the Star Spangled Banner- the cameras focused on the flag, and displayed it on the giant screens. Not sure if Mike was already planning on playing it, but it sure looked impromptu. Either way, it was one of those moments that we, as PJ fans, live for. Just a big stupid smile on my face ever since. :P
Thanks to Pearl Jam and all who made the show possible!0 -

Loved the show and icing on the cake was the Star Spangled Banner, and it looked like it was spontaneous - in reaction to the flag - even if it wasn't0 -
This was a great show. The ticket/entry process was a giant cluster as was the shuttle ride but once in it was nice and pretty laid back. Very different from ATL. Both shows were good tho.0

A Great Concert, I travelled from the Uk to see it, what a location.
Did anyone else get pissed at the other stages being played at the same time? i could hear the Bass during eddie chatting to the crowd0 -
It was different logistically etc not the Pearl Jam stuff.0

This was the first show in the 18 years my husband and I have been attending PJ concerts since we were teens, where we were REALLY REALLY close to the stage! In our memory, we felt we were close back in 1994 (Miami, Bayside Amphitheater Show) but no way, we know now what the real deal feels like. We were determined to have this long awaited experience. We got there early and set up camp. I now understand the difference and what I have read about in the past in the fanviews. We made friends and traded show stories in the time we all waited. When the music started these became the same people you traded looks, smiles, and lyrics with. It was awesome! And at the same time, we felt the band was playing just for us.
We are from Miami so we are used to the beauty of the ocean and beaches and we were still blown away by the setting. The sand is totally different, like flour, and the water clear and bright. The sunset was amazing too, got some really beautifully warm colored pictures. Also logistically, this was a dream. A true beach attitude (nothing like Miami, don't be fooled by our similar geography). People biked, walked, took trolleys, etc. leaving a reasonable, free "park-where-ever-as-long-as-it's-considerate-to-others" system. We got in and out as if 100 people had attended the show. Got bands in no time. Food was good and healthy! and water was free. I guess you start caring about that stuff when you get old!
We went to PJ20 and although that show had a lot of sentimental value to us, I have to say, it didn't have the pure joy this one did. Apples and oranges, and both delicious! I love EV's line when talking to the audience, not remembering when "Pensacola got so beautiful". I later told my husband, how when you get older, you can appreciate everything so much more and everything takes on a different point of view. This has been the case for us in the last several years seeing PJ, the music and experience seems to mean more to us each time.0 -
WOW what a Setlist. I cant believe its over and the all to familiar, week long sadness is setting in.
Very Surreal to see them down on the beach, Orgasmic more like. Very fitting opening to oceans and won 10 dollar bet with husband on that. These guys are like wine, getting better with age. COME BACK!0 -

There were probably about 1/3 of the people at Deluna Fest. Also the crowd was way less crazy. And PJ played for 30 extra minutes and the setlist was better.0 -
Wow, my first concert review as a club member. I've been following the tours as a guest on this forum for a very long time and finally decided to chuck up the $25 as a PJ21/new website appreciation gift this summer . . .
First of all, I am a rare breed in the PJ community -- I love the music festivals! When I saw that this one would be at the beach, how could I not go? My two favorite past-times converged for an absolutely perfect weekend, and I spent the whole time thanking the universe for being so kind to me. The sand was so white, the water was so blue, and I was too busy soaking in my vitamin D while wandering from stage to stage to find any problems with the festival organizers. I'm sorry the "very important" fans had a bad experience, because I only paid $189 plus the dysfunctional trolley fee, and I can't complain about a thing. Overall, if someone asked me to make a top ten list of the best moments of my life, I know this concert (weekend) would be on it.
On Friday, I got there early enough (2:00ish) to get about ten feet from the rail on Jeff's side (whom I also love). When I saw that I would be as close to the stage as I will ever get, even with my now pitiful 10 Club number, I started to FREAK OUT about how I would manage to hold my spot until 9:45. Well, I knew it was only going to work if I made friends with the great bunch around me, and we had a fun, easy time listening to the openers while also taking turns for breaks. It also helped that the stage shaded the beach for us during the hot part of the afternoon. When the PJ show started, what an absolute privilege I felt to see these men as real people clearly loving their job. I've seen shows from the nose bleeds, I've seen them mid-point, but I have never, ever had the concert experience I enjoyed at DeLuna up front. I danced my butt off, I laughed, I connected, when Ed talked about the Wounded Warriors, my heart tugged, and now I am the owner of a Mike guitar pick, too. That dude is generous with those things -- I had no idea he throws them out like confetti. I haven't been playing my guitar lately, so when I brushed the sand off the one I had to unbury under some guy's feet, I realized now is the time to start practicing again. Maybe some of Mike's genius will rub into my fingers -- well, no it won't, but at least when I practice now, I will have such a great memory to play to. I'm going to wear out that guitar pick.
The second thing that makes me a rare breed in this little club is that I do not judge the non-members and their ignorance of the perfect set lists, nor do I memorize the lyrics to every song on every album. I don't even own every album -- how shocking is that? But that doesn't mean I don't love it as much as everyone else when PJ mixes it up at concerts. It's just for a completely different reason. When PJ mixes it up, it means I get to hear songs from the albums I don't own and don't know and then I get to grow as a fan. On Friday, I heard "Of the Earth" for the first time ever, and holy cow, that song totally rocks! They tore it up completely for I don't even know how long they jammed, I got lost in it, and now I have to find out what album it's on because I *will* own that one soon.
So -- thank you again, Pearl Jam, thank you again, Mother Nature, and thank you especially to the people who kept me close to the stage! I don't even know your names, but I absolutely love you for making a dream of mine come true!0 -

Yeah, I noticed this -- it was DJ Jazzy Jeff starting his late night dance party. I wondered who allowed that to happen, but I also noticed he turned it off pretty quickly. I have a feeling someone official made it go away, because it's just not cool to play over top the headliner. It could have been a scheduling error because I heard DJ Jazzy Jeff salute Pearl Jam when he started back up as we were leaving.0
