really ? all I said was his discissions may have been influanced by his family backgroung...that's all, look at the way he has been dealing with (as you all say) "radical" muslims...and don't go to the OBL hit, Bush got the wheel rolling on that and if Obama hadden't o.k'ed the kill any hopes for re-electopn would have been over...in my opinion.
look how he's dealing with the muslim up rising all over the frickin world ...4 Americans killed in the embassy and he still is going back and forth with the idea "was it terrorism or a movie"....well all I can say is that movie musta pissed off Obama too :lol:
 geeze I derailed my own post.

A few years ago I read about a Japanese man whose parents named him Thurgood Marshall because they admired the Supreme Court justice. If you heard someone was named Thurgood Marshall, would you assume he might be from Japan?

When Desmond Tutu received the Nobel Peace Prize, friends of mine chose to name their son Desmond in his honor. They have no connections to South Africa, they just respected the man.

Lots of people receive names that have been handed down in their family. It doesn't inform or affect who they are, other than that they may have to explain why their middle name is Hiram or Aloysius or Percival.

Suggesting that the President makes policy decisions because of his name is ridiculous. Come up with something better than that.

If I posted my full name most people would have assumptions about where I am from and my family origins...and they would be completely wrong.

Sorry, Godfather, that just doesn't make sense. If you trace my family name you might find that I come from Amish background. My father was born 100% Amish. That did not influence me to do or not do the things I do or the decisions I make. I drive a car, use a computer, play an electric guitar, use a toaster, etc, etc. And that's just after one generation. People don't make decisions based on their heritage.

i have to disagree with you here brian.

people can be very much influenced by their heritage. tho it doesnt mean they will be. how far back into that heritage are we willing to go in order to pin someones decisions on it, in order to say i told you so,is another matter.

Yes, Catefrances, I agree that not only can people be influenced by their heritage but most often usually are. I'm just not sure that means we should worry about someones decision making based on their heritage in the world in which we live today. Most people, certainly any major politician, are not so isolated from other ways of thinking as to be blinded in their decision making. I used myself as an example because I can be seen, as Mickyrat aptly put it, as a heretic. I don't even think like an Amish person otherwise I would say things like, "The carriage needs washed, so it does" or feel a twinge of guilt every time I fire up the computer. Yet of course there is a resonance of the Amish in me. I naturally find pastoral and farm setting to be pleasant and simplicity makes sense to me. But if I were president that doesn't mean I would order attacks on a cites just because they're cities or a group of people I consider to live cluttered and complicated lives. They would not fear me in the least. So to fear Obama because his middle name is Hussein? No, of course not.

Your posts are generally fearful, hate filled, contemptuos generalisations, which are frightening at times at their lack of depth or reasoning.

You know full well what game you are playing when using his middle name as such. Also, one factor very common with rasicts across the world is their denial of such. But you see that is why we judge someone not on their denials, but on their assertions, and my friend you have made many.

most of it is a game to him. nothing more than entertainment. plays us against ourselves. baiting. hes a master at it. Hes a master baiter.

seriously though, not much I can see thats either overt or covert about some of these posts from him. Says a lot about others though. as vehemently as some oppose the views as stated here , they continue to engage in it. rather than simply ignoring what they may find objectionable.

If some find it that objectionable click the report button, but I think much thought goes into wording so it stays within posting guidelines. he often uses this as a means of shutting others down or at least his interpretation of them.

You focus on the President's middle name AND you post a picture of him in a turban.
That's not hinting at racism and xenophobia?

I'm guessing that's the case. The name "Davis" is of Welsh and English origin meaning "beloved".

I don't see many on here judging the president that way.
He went to a Muslim school, his dad was Muslim, his step dad was Muslim , how is that racist or bigoted if true. Why did he change his name?

He went by the nickname "Barry" in college, apparently.

Much like how Willard Romney goes by the name "Mitt."
