I already own the first edition DVD & Blu-ray Deluxe Box Sets. But when I heard "repackaged" , I just have to pick up the "new" DVD & Blu-ray Deluxe Box Sets. It kinda feels like ....
It's all good. Wish though they included some bonus footage on these discs. I understand not so much on the DVD's storage capacity but they could of done it on the Blu-ray discs.
ok..i get the conversation about limited, that the 1st edition was more expensive...etc..
is normal some people feel this way..and say that i pay something more, now is cheaper..
but come on..this is a win..more fans can see this, have it..
this isnt a backpack,a tshirt..is the history of the band in those disk..
all must have the chance to see them
when! I'd happily trade it for a real case that will fit on the shelf with the rest of my blu rays
and my friend....this isnt something you just put it with the rest of blu rays,right.?.
Dimi... good sir... come on. The history of the band is in those disks and everyone should have a chance to see them is correct.
The fact that people paid $20 extra to see the same thing is total horse shit.
you mean 30 $ extra ...i think was 69 the bluray-59$ the dvd
i bought it too the 1st edition, the dvd version...sure sound bad that we paid more..
but to tell u the truth, exept that is always like that at merch when u buy it..
you never know where is the good deal(for exable i paid 40$ shipping cost for ames book and after a few moths they offer it here at 10c half price and 11$ only shipping cost)
look at the forum.(same as facebook,i post the sale there too..)..in this thread,at petiton thread..
so many people -fans are happy..they will now have the chance to see it....well..fuck it,,i prefer peope be happy, and we lost a few bucks..next time maybe we are the lucky ones.
for sure,i understand your complain, and you are right...+you have every right to complain about it..
but..in the end of the day is a win for alot of people..and dont forget..its a lose fot flippers..
+we own it and saw it 1 year before the rest, right?
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
i was grateful for the set existing (3 discs is better than 1) but yeah the original slide out box is a little awkward.
this is a win-win for everyone besides flippers.
+1

Santos: Does 'same video content' mean that it's the same sub-par transfer to Blu-Ray that it was last time around?
It depends on the source material a lot. The stuff shot on video won't benefit nearly as much as the stuff shot on film. It's why they can release a 1930s film on blu-ray and it will look 100x better than your favorite 80's TV show (shot on videotape) fifty years later. PJ20 is a mix. In a documentary like this you can always tell how something was filmed. There's other factors (grain, noise reduction, etc) but it's almost as good a transfer as possible. The studio did really well.
And here goes my money again...
it rolls and flows
through the holes
and the pockets of my clothes

I dont know about this explanation, early in the thread I asked if anyone knew if the bonus disk had been fixed. It does have some issues on recently shot material that make some songs unwatchable, seems like nothing to do with the source material, rather an issue with the transfer process, from memory the Bushleager and the Chop Suey footage is really bad in particular. For the untrained it seemed like issues that should not be on the disk, Ive not seen anything like it on the other 600+ Bluray disk I own..Hopefully its fixed as it was discussed at the time of the first release that there were these issues.
I remember when play stations dropped prices by half about 2 years after release. I don't remember everyone with a PlayStation for those 2 years complaining about how they paid $200 more for them..
Ummm..you are comparing technology with a DVD/Bu Ray. One that was advertised as "Limited" no?
The truth is I am very happy that those that want it can get it. But, I still feel a bit ripped off. In the grand scheme of things it's really not a big deal. Just very strange of 10C to re-release and then drop the price. I can;t wait to get my Benny Hall LP set for $5!!!!!

you could be right. I never watched the bonus footage you're talking about. The main feature is a very good transfer though (as is Water on the Road)
Question: for those with the BluRay and talk of the pixelation "shitty transfer" of Bushleager and Thumbing My Way...is this on the movie, the Kids are Twenty or on both discs?
Thanks

Seriously though, is it worth dropping another $30 to get The Kids are 20 and The Fans are Alright even if I have PJ20 already? Are they that good, or should I just get The Kids are 20 on iTunes??

sell or trade in your single disc if you want more of a discount. You'll get 5-10 bucks for it.
I'm in the group who missed out the first time, and who are awfully glad this is coming out. After Music Midtown this weekend, it will give me something else (along with Soundgarden's new album) to look forward to in November. Thanks, PJ & 10C!

I just want to clarify that not every part of these discs has pixelation...only certain songs.

Seriously? Why the need to be rude?
I'm sorry, on2legs, but the silence from all parties involved with this project is insulting as it is. Pixelation is not a product of circa-1993 analog video, rather the conversion processes involved in getting the source content onto a digital disc, and it is present on numerous portions of the film (especially, as mentioned, in the bonus discs). In addition, this pixelation is also visible on footage that seems to have been shot during the European tour where Imagine in Cornice's material was from. There was no pixelation observable in Imagine in Cornice, but there is in PJ20.
A large corporation made a forum for its customers, hired administrators to monitor said forum, made a faulty product, and (my guess is) instructed them to remain silent on the customer complaints when they received them. I love this band, I appreciate the fact that the Ten Club has a small number of personnel on board and that it is very much a 'family entity', but these facts should not leave them unaccountable for when things go wrong - especially when their customers are paying upwards of $70 for a three-disc video. Hell, even an apology and note that unfortunately, at this point in production that they are incapable of resolving the issue, would have gone a long way.

On top of the pixelation I also noticed interlacing issues on the original discs (bluray). You could totally see the lines in the euro footage as mentioned above.
As for this new set. Is it it me or does it look like they are using the same packaging for the dvd and bluray? I only ask because I like the new packaging better and was thinking of getting the new set and selling the old one. the only problem is my bluray shelf is setup to hold bluray sized packing not dvd sized. While the old set looks odd because its short and wide, it would still be better then buying a bluray set, only to find its too tall to fit.
Do you guys think they used DVD packaging for both the dvd and bluray?

I've owned the deluxe blu ray for a year and still haven't found time to open it to watch the extras.
