Haven't been in Wuhlheide before but i assume that it's just like any rock festivals, when you go away from your spot you lose and you'll have to find a new place to watch the show. Knowing germans there will be some security guys checking that there won't be too much people packing in the grass area.

My gf is going to pit but i don't want to stand 6-7 hours at a same spot so i'm probably just hanging out somewhere in the back. Shitty not to be able to see the band together but she's been waiting for this nearly 15 years so i want her to be upfront. Hope the crowd isn't as nuts as i heard they were in Italy, France and Portugal.

    Two days to go!!

i think they'll probably issue wristbands to pretty much allow you access to the lawn area when u first get there. so yeah, first come first serve i guess

okay, so... me and my friend are staying at the Dolce Berlin Müggelsee. It says on the side it's fifteen kilometres to the nearest train-station (subway??), anyone knows how the buses runs around there? Looks like there's a subway station nearby, but I can't find a map good enough to locate exactly how far the hotel is from the subway station. Any help would be appreciated :)
  • Hi toaster, check this:

    http://www.fahrinfo-berlin.de/

Click site to english and put your hotels address there and Wuhlheide as destination. Site gives you options how to move in the city. It looks like that you have to first use bus to get to Köpenick station and then take a tram to Wuhlheide.

This must be most international show of the euro tour, something like ten different nationalities only on this last page of this thread. Great!

or check out http://www.s-bahn-berlin.de/ as you are more likely to take the innercity railway = S-Bahn. Although its all on one map the BVG doesnt lists any changes which might be of importance in the S-Bahn schedule. Therefore I find the S-Bahn mask more reliable.
  • alright, those of you who have my mobile # can call me later...i wont be online till tomm as i'll be out the rest of the day...have fun and see you at the show:D.

O.k, Will Be At My Hotel-abacus Tierpark- In Berlin At Around Midnight Tonight. Anybody Fancy A Beer Then Call Or Text Me On 07903963070. We're Two 35 Year Old Welshmen Who Love A Bit Of Pearl Jam, And A Pint. Btw, I Almost Was Going To Wear My Europe '92 Long Sleeve Shirt, That I Bought At Finsbury Park Gig In London In June Of That Year-it's Been Kept In My Bottom Draw For Years And Is Sooooo Fantastic I Was Afraid Somebody Might Kill Me For It! So It's Gone Back Away. Anyone Else Got A Really Ancient Pearl Jam Tour Shirt That They'll Be Wearing? Let's Hope This Gig Is As Great As We Want It To Be!!!!!see You All Sometime, Maybe.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....
  • I'm off home to pack.
I'll be in Berlin 10-11ish tonight, and will be looking for some beers and good times with fellow jammers. Anyone wanna contact me then, please do so at my cellphone number +4748285695

  • I'm off in a couple of hours too. First by train to Helsinki and then flying tomorrow morning to Berlin Tegel airport. We're staying at Aparthotel an der Spree. If you guys see me there or somewhere say hello, i'm probably wearing dark blue Pearl Jam shirt with orange coloured Evolution print: a monkey, a man and a DNA chain.

About 30 hours till the moment PJ hits the stage!

  • I'm taking the buss next hour from Malmö in Sweden with my brother and 2 friends.
I'm going to stay at the hostel at Zoo. Looks like a decent place. Not very near Wuhlheide but it's nice to live at central Berlin too.
I don't know what I am going to wear but you might recognice my brother. He is going to wear a white suit that you usually wear to protect your clothes when you are painting. On the back it says "Sign here if you are going to Pearl Jam 23/9". Thought that would be a funny idea if you guys could sign on him and it would be a pretty cool souvenire later. :) Hope you see us!
Can't reveal any names (of who coined the term "rock"), but he was black and probably cool as hell... - oldfella

  • Alrighty then...so it's 6 fuckin AM the next morning...I just got back to my hotel 20 min ago (yes, it took exactly 2 freakin hours, involving 30min of walking back to the Schönweide s-bahn stop...i'm lucky i wasn't robbed! haha)

will write more later, but all i can say is...overall excellent show, but the only thing that kept it from being perfect...1) nazi motherfucking security guards to who felt the need to basically bitch about me and my SLR...EVEN THOUGH IT WAS INSPECTED AND OK'D BY THE DUDES AT THE ENTRY. fucking cunts. I had 5 different people come up to me warning me about taking pictures, with the last guy actually trying to tug the camera from my fucking hands, even though I WAS NOT ACTUALLY USING IT AT THE TIME!!! However, i believe it was one of the PJ crew who was largely responsible for that shit as he was the 1st dude who came up to me and 'insisted i give him my camera'...and I insisted that I would no do such thing as it had been ok'd by security at the entry and that it was NOT a pro camera (if anyone knows anything about photography, a D100 with a 50mm is NOT a pro setup..)...but anyway...to that long grey-haired gentleman with rings on his fingers...I convey a huge 'FUCK YOU, suck my dick, why don't you attempt to stop the other 10,000 people in the audience taking pictures!'. Seriously, I actually feel like somehow making a profit on the photos I did get just to spite this rat bastard. FUCK.

ok, venting over. That's all i can say...so I didn't get to take as many shots as my great vantage point with 10c tix in the 3rd row offered me...and the other thing was...the crowd was largely pushy and elbowy...and I had the wonderful luck of ending up behind a scottish dude with a stupid hat who blocked half my view and another dude who was as tall as he was who ruined another 1/3 of my view...basically i have never gone through so much effort to take a few decent photos at a concert...and I attended huge ass festivals with gigantic moshpits for bands that are quite heavier than PJ. It was an experience indeed....

I shall talk about the actual show and Ed's entertaining drunkenness and hilarious German later...

    peace out!

p.s. just a howdy-do to WhiteRiot and Renster from the forums who I had the pleasure to meet at the show, and also to OutofBreath and his crew...hope you guys had a good show!

  • Hi Deep,

It was really hilarious seeing all those security guys came up to you every 10 minutes trying to grab that telelens thing out of your hands..!!!

Had a great night, won''t forget the hotelbar, you and Whiteriot who was by the way drunk again yesterday evening.

got home at 2am this monday morning from Berlin, I thought the band were amazing as usual and the venue was very spectacular. But what the hell was the entry problem all about? We arrived 15 minutes after the gates opened, after rambling through the woods to find the bloody place! The que-man! Almost 2 hours to get inside the venue, and when we got in to the gig the que behind us was even bigger! I saw last 2 songs of the black keys, but at least I made sure that I saw the whole Pearl Jam set. I assume that some could have missed the beginning, because of the entry hold up. I know that 10c members had a different way in, but did the venue have just the one main entry? What a problem getting away from there also-walked bloody miles before I got a taxi. I wouldn't do all this for any other band, man-they are shit hot! I caught them 3 times in 14 years, I hope they don't leave it too long before they tour again. By the way, all you Berliners can be proud of a very special city. We walked most of the centre on Sat' and Sun', saw most of the historical sights-and a great little antique market by the river with a few cool old vinyl stalls. Loved the place, I will return.......Jamie
