post in thread what playoff format you think we should use and if you want into pool

    also

i think we should not add half point to spreads without them during the playoffs

this will cut down a little on ties for total wins

    any other ideas?

  • Last year, for the tiebreaker, we predicted the final score in each game. You took the difference between the combined score we predicted and the actual score and added them up. In the case of a tie, the person with the lowest number would win.

I'd vote to do it this way again.

of coure we'll do a playoff pool, we're degenerates

    i think $20 to play

either do same as last year ( i forget what we did, haven't looked back yet)

or just change the tiebreaker and do :

    friday spreads

all picks in before 1st saturday kickoff

and the tiebreaker change, rank your picks 4 through 1

so your most confident pick is worth 4 points, and so on through

that would be for the 1st 2 weeks, then it's just 2 picks for 1 weekend , with your most confident pick worth 2 points

these ranks and points are only for tiebraking purposes

the most wins out of the 11 games, wins the pot

only a tie for 1st in wins would result in using points accumulated by your ranking picks

if that ties, split the pot as many ways necessary

    ???

or someone else might have another playoff pool idea

let us know and we'll decide by thursday night

this is last years playoff rules

    ok

by the votes we will go with my version

pick the games against the spread, just like the regular season

the tiebreaker will be - pick the total of any 1 game each weekend

everyone will have a running total for the tiebreaker that i explained earlier

you can either post the score for both teams or give just a total for the game

it's the same number either way

pm me all selections and 1 total each week before the kickoff of the 1st game played

after the 1st weekend round, i will pm my picks to the person in last place

i will try to do this as soon as i post spreads so i won't make picks after i have seen any other picks

if i left anything out, lemme know

  • So I just want to get this straight.

All we need to do is pick a winner all for games against the posted spread.

Get Ed all 4 picks by 4pm Saturday.

And pick a total points for any one of the 4 games.

    Am I missing anything?

    Good luck all!

Which are your current favorites? I am a watered down american beer guy but my family all still lives in VT and my bro is a Long Trail, Otter Creek and Switchback fan.
I tripped out when my wife and I went to NYC for a weekend of craziness this year to celebrate our 5 yr anniversary....we had reservations for this ridiculous restaurant, billed as the city's 'most romantic', and we decided to go with the wine pairing with dinner....one of the 6-7 wines they brought us to pair with our courses was not a wine but a Magic Hat #9.

    F-Me,

Switchback is in my current top 3. Probably number 3. Number 2 and 1 are really close, but my number 2 right now is The Alchemist. It's out of Waterbury and is a potent IPA with a ABV of like 7.5%. My very favorite at this time a brewery called Hill Farmstead out of Greensboro. Every beer they make is EXCELLENT! It's made in a typical VT setting; in an old barn on a dirt road.

I do like #9 on tap. One of the best beers I have every had that has come from a tap. Plus on the underside of every bottle cap they have a little saying and one reads, "Nothing better than a beer with Eddie Vedder". Very rare but I have seen a few!

Interesting - will have to try Hill Farmstead, never heard of it. I see The Alchemist is served at Nectars -- I was pounding vodka rocks down there a few months back before we walked up the hill to see Primus at Memorial. Great show!
Interesting on #9 - I like it a whole lot more now - wonder what the EV link is. He is a Corona guy usually, right?
