Live version of a song that makes you appreciate how good it is....

Songs that you might forget about for a bit until you hear a certain version of it, then you realize how good it actually is. Below are a few of mine and where they played it that made me start listening to them more:

Long Road (Tribute to Hero's)
In Hiding (VIC 07)
Inside Job (Dublin 06)
Insignificance (Newcastle 06)
Green Disease (Atlantic City 05)
In My Tree (Live at the Garden)

Anyone have any others? (or even know what I mean here lol)

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Faithfull was superb, but i already really liked it so i'll go with Bu$hleaguer from the London show... it's so-so on the album and OK on the 2003 bootlegs but i thought it was excellent live and, for me, a real surprise when they played it...
Oh yeah? Well, I've had about enough of morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells - and you chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you - you've had enough of me?

Watching Porch from the MTV Unplugged show was when I finally realized how good of a song it really is.

    Love Reign O'er Me

    VIC show

I was really skeptical at first, that they could even do it live...I didn't get a chance to hear the Copenhagen version but I gotta say the version at the VIC is absolutely amazing...I really hope they keep playing that cover cause it's my absolute fave, of all of the covers they do.
  • i know it was stated about 230830483 times already, but:

In Hiding from The Vic is incredible..
... the same song from Antwerp in '06 is pretty awesome too - hence my board name

Everytime I hear Black I get blown away. When I hear it on the radio I'm not that swept up in it, but hearing it live is amazing. I am trying to find the best live version of it, but I think the Milan 2006 version is pretty good, and is up towards the top during the 2006 tour.

the Benaroya Hall version from 2003 is pretty hard to beat... though i think this subject has been discussed to death elsewhere... ;)

  • Faithfull from Wembley '07 was just insane. I've always liked the song but hearing the crowd sing 'we're faithfull, we all believe! we all believe it!' just made me realise how appropriate it was for the entire 10c floor to be singing that bit!

Inside Job from Las Vegas - best version i've ever heard.

Haven't heard the Vegas version yet, but the Dublin version of Inside Job was easily the best I've heard. Have a listen to that one if you get a chance.
