What a great night!
Actually we´ve got tickets for night 2, but- we took a look at the venue, chilled a bit at the water in front of the theatre and then wanted to buy some merch. There were these two men. Coming towards us. Question: "You're going in tonight?" answer: "No, we're going tomorrow." "You wanna go in tonight, too??" --- and they handed us two tickets for free for the hall, row 8 and 13. And then the doors were opened and we saw Ed talking about the Paul Story. Everything was dark but the stage, and it seemed as if Ed was right in front of us. So we had missed some songs but the rest was simply amazing!!
We're all the more looking forward to tonight!!!!!!Berlin Wuhlheide 2009

I never thought to hear this song live. "Falling Slowly" was heart wrenching. (Not to mention "Man of the Hour", "Thumbing my Way" - at some point I got into that "drifting away" high, that good concerts give you...) And man, Glen Hansard has an amazing voice... The emotions... Wow... Wow... Wow...
@ellyn27, which pub are you talking about?
Dimitris, it is 9.41 in the morning and I am still buzzed. There was also this very fragile and slow version of Betterman and (if you imagine it is only one man and a guitar) quite a rockin version of Porch and Open All Night. Tonight I am going with my girlfriend, with fanclub tickets and I have the same feeling we both had in Amsterdam and Berlin one; how is he going to top this? He played "Good Woman" for fuzz sake!!! I am hoping for Just Breathe, the End (for my girlfriend; for it reminds her of when her father passed away) or Immortality (for me), but mostly I am looking forward in holding my girlfriends hand and see her tear up and experiencing this feeling again...
I said it before but: What... A... Show...
I am def. going to buy that Glen Hansard CD.Post edited by fortyshades on0 -

Even though I enjoy watching video's of PJ concerts, I agree with this one. And I also understood it last night. It is a very private and personal setting. Very intimate and fragile. There is no place for videos; only enjoying the moment. I was getting quite annoyed at times with the small screens screaming in my face, for these little fuckers give quite an illuminous light; there was one on my right hand continiously blinding me...0 -
No time to post much right now, but I loved it.
Great respect for Glen Hansard, amazing artist. I'm glad I have tickets for his Paradiso show later this year, already looking forward to it.
And as for Ed: what can I say, I laughed and I cried. Had a great time.
Will post more later, but absolutely loved it.0 -

Jealous of you guys, hope you had a fan time!
ARC was amazing and very intense... Especially if you consider the history and tribute of the song... But in a theatre like this, heartwrenching...Post edited by fortyshades on0 -
OK, I was one of the lucky people (with my brother) to have been there! We got row 7 tickets trough TenC (THX) and I am absolutely lost for words to describe this evening. I will never, ever forget this evening!!!!
THX to ED (and Glen and the crew of course!) for this amazing and memorable night!

Wow, wow, wow what have we enjoyed this performance. I was with my wife who has waited for years for this moment. I have slept a night before the venue to get tickets and it was worth every second sitting on the second row 10 mtrs from him.
Eddie had a nervous start. No talking in the beginning but after 4/5 songs he was more relaxed and talked to us in dutch. The sound was amazing and so was the audience.
Highlights: I Am mine, Thumbing My Way, Man Of The Hour, Parting Ways, Society (my wifes favourit) Arc (so powerful and much, much better than on the dvd) and Hard Sun. During the encores everybody was standing at the stage singing and clapping on Hard Sun.
Can't wait for the second show tonight with my eldest son!0 -

I saw a shithead with an Ipad filming everything.
Flashes and mobilephones rising up.
Hate that shit.
Oke, it's nice to review and with the PJ concerts it's all allowed by themselves but Eddie doesn't want it.
I respect that..
It also breaks the show. I was listening to Sometimes with my eyes closed and in the leftcorner woke up by flashes..| Pinkpop 1992 *BEST EVER* | Rotterdam 1993 | Amsterdam 1996 | Pinkpop 2000 | Arnhem 2006 | Nijmegen 2007 | Rotterdam 2009 | Nijmegen 2010 | Amsterdam I + II 2012 ** | Amsterdam Eddie Vedder Solo 2012 First European Concert *EPIC*| Amsterdam I + II 2014 | Amsterdam Eddie Vedder Solo 2016 night I | Amsterdam I + II 2018 | Amsterdam I -> Canceled + II 2022 *EPIC0 -

Hahahah, reminds me of Prague 2006. I had fanclub tickets, but my friend couldn't go, so I ended up going by myself. I was standing there and saw this kid just hoovering near the fence; he wanted to go in, but obviously didn't have enough money. I was like: "Do you have a ticket?" He said "no", so I gave my ticket for free. He was estatic. Great to watch. That alone was worth the concert. At the end of the night I saw him completly buzzed and grinning outside...

Another detail: the tickets were VIP-Tickets, without prize. It reminds me of something I´ve read about the US-tour last year. There were tickets given to some people to improve their seats and there were reservated seats in the first rows for that.

I still can't describe this evening properly, but let me try anyway. I was completely wrecked when he played trouble, I wasn't expecting that one at all. so that was the first crying time of the evening.
with many more to follow...so many songs I had no clue he would do, man of the hour, parting ways, thumbing my way..I had so many "oh my god" moments, it kinda felt like Amsterdam 2 all over again.
I guess this city is magic. No clue how this can be topped tonight!
Oh, and the whole day was beautiful yesterday. The sun was out, it was warm, and I met many familiar faces from the PJ tour and some new friends. And as a final highlight, I met Eddie when he came out after the show.so yeah, yesterday ROCKED. bring on today!

wasn't really able to talk as there were too many people still, but he came out and shook everyone's hand and asked about the show and how many of us would be back todayhe also explained why he didn't play italy (italians asked him...way to spend your moment with him really :fp: ), seems there were problems with the venues. the polish fans got to give him their picture with him from copenhagen, the one that's on the site here.
