In a week or 2 everyone will have gotten used to it.

Pretty much what happened last time.

I don't really mind the changes - it could use some tweaking (I requested breadcrumbs at the bottom of the pages too, so reduce all the scrolling). I dunno - I feel like it basically works the same as before. Just looks different... I am surprised to see people talking about ditching their membership just because the forum looks different! The same people are all here.

This is the equivalent of New Coke.

New Coke actually worked, although not as intended. It rejuvenated Coca-Cola's sales numbers and it's still being talked about.

Heck, they actually brought it back just a few years ago although you had to buy it as a pack with regular and Diet. It also had the secondary "Coke II" logo.

I believe it was something like 2009 when Coca-Cola finally dropped the "Classic" part from the logo.

What I don't understand is they have those Freestyle machines with something like 200 varieties...and no New Coke. They know they want to. Keep regular and introduce Coke II as an option.

And on that subject, Pepsi needs to bring back the OG Pepsi Max with the ginseng and all that. The new "Pepsi Zero" or whatever it's called isn't the same at all.

I hope somebody is listening.  Sorry to be so blunt, but this new format totally sucks.  It's maddening.  A friend here suggested I give it time (thank you, A), but then every time I get on here, I just feel more vexed and less enthused about being here.  Is this some kind of plot to thin out the herd?  Well, if so, it might just work.

I hear you, Rob.  I feel the same way.
Instead of coming here to talk about records or current events or favorite critters, all I seem to find myself doing is trying to navigate through a site that is like the Winchester Mystery House-- a famous tourist mansion in San Jose, California that was built by the eccentric Sarah Winchester constructed in a confusing maze like manner including stairways that end at ceilings.
And then all I end up doing is bitching about how awful this wonderful place suddenly became, and nobody, including me, likes hearing me bitching.
I just hope something is done about this gawdawful mess.  It's WELL worth salvaging.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I just hope someone out there is listening.
    Hang in there, my friend.

I get how changing the forum is frustrating in terms of learning the new features. We were told the old version is no longer being supported so it’s not like they just decided to change it to upset us. Hopefully, they can take some of our feedback and work with it, or we get used to it. But for me, as long as the same people are here to interact with, it’s not boring. I’m here for the people on the forum. That’s what makes it fun for me.

It's the scrolling. It needs a front page that fits the screen. I only have a mobile phone so this is completely alien to me. I understand desktop was similar to this. But for me it's unusable

I don't use a phone for anything other than calls and texting, so I don't know what you're dealing with that way Rob, but I can imagine it must be awful for this site.
But even with the larger screen of the laptop that I use it's a pain in the ass.  When I log in after being gone and go to a thread I've been on, half the time it takes me to the next post in line, but half the time it takes me to Kansas or God knows where.  It loads slower than molasses.  I can't find my profile page.  There's too much wasted space with these HUGE gaps between things.  It's ugly.  It's not user friendly.  It's a disaster and I am already in going forward will be spending WAY less time here.  If I were still working full time, that might be the one plus.  But I'm mostly retired, I love the band and the people here, and with my health issues, it's really been great to have this place when I'm down.  Now, I find this site very off-putting.  It's just sad.

+1. On desktop PC it only shows the first 7 posts which are the announcement threads. On mobile, only the first 4 announcement threads. Gonna be tough to see Santos' psst .. posts without having to refresh and scroll down the page.

I agree, I was just meaning the new look doesn't feel very inviting, feels like a work place vibe. All good, we will all adapt and move on.
