The last week or so has just been FANTASTIC, in my little world. Hearing from all my friends, who are just as excited as me. We grew up in Wrigley. Wrigley is our neighborhood. We all hopped on the bus as kids, paid are $2, and sat in the grandstands. Its been a great week, and a great year so far. Just give me 4 more wins.

Friends of mine did a rooftop yesterday. Friend of ours runs one of the rooftops. $100 all you can eat and drink. I have a feeling my buddies had spent their $100 in booze, by the time the National Anthem was sung! Hahaha

Nice...just checked the rooftops for NLCS..starting at $260..

I understand you wanting just for 4 more..to share that experience with your pops is priceless..For me we are so close..with such a good team..I cant help but feel the urgency to get it done now with a title..No guarantees in the years to come. Lets do it now!!!
I have mentioned here over the years, the relationship between myself, my father, and the Cubs. Many fond memories of going to the games with dad, paying the nuns on Grace Ave. for parking, and going to the games. But there has always been heartache in the end. 1984 was a disaster. 2003 was a disaster. As my father ages, and his health has turned south over the last few years, I can only hope that we will be able to sit back in my childhood home, order our Lou Malnatis pizza, and watch a Cubs World Series together.

    4 more wins.
Just get us to the dance!
I hope you and your dad and watch them win it this year Speedy! Like you, I bet there are thousands, hell...maybe tens of thousands of fans who are like you. I was hoping the Cubs could win one before my grandpa passed. I remember him calling me in 03 when I was in college...we'd talk about the Cubs for at least an hour...a few times over the course of that playoff run.

Yeah, we used to park at the convent with the nuns too. Was a perfect spot to park...in and out like nothing...close to the park, and cheap! Was always amazed how more people weren't aware of that. Sad when it closed down.

Anyways, I honestly don't see the Mets or Dodgers taking the Cubs in a 7 game series. The Cards were the team to beat and the best in the NL. I really think we can make it!

No I get it..I sincerely understand where your coming from. I have similar memories with my dad who has passed..This is so exciting..I'm really savoring watching these games with my boys.

Don't forget about 1989..That was a solid squad as well!!!
1984 will always be "THE DISASTER", as far as Cubs teams are concerned, in my eyes. That team was magical, that summer at Wrigley was magical. Then it all fell apart in San Diego. I had never seen my father so upset. He was a mess. So was I.

And I tell you what. If the Cubs make it to the World Series, I hope Steve Bartman throws out the 1st pitch. I hope they give that poor guy a lifetime pass to all Cubs games. I hope he is given a World Series ring. What the Cubs, and they fans did, to ruin that poor guys life, still bothers the Holy Hell out of me, to this day. To use that poor guy as a scapegoat in 2003, was despicable.
1984..Running home from grade school to see Sutcliff pitch a gem and hit one out of the park in a game 1 rout..remember like it was yesterday. I also remember the debacle in san diego..durham error..steve garvey homer...yea a disaster to say the least!! And

Agreed on Bartman..I thought I have heard the club has reached out to him in past in some fashion but he wants nothing to do with it..I could be wrong...
Bartman has turned down every interview and every chance to profit over his ordeal. Out of everyone who was involved in that debacle, Bartman has always remained the class act. The poor guy went to the biggest game at Wrigley in 70 years, him, and every single person sitting around him, went for that foul ball. And 30 seconds later, his entire life was ruined. The fans sitting around him, who were pointing him out, should be ashamed on themselves. It always looked to me as if the were picking on the "weak" kid. You know what I mean? Bartman with his Cubs jersey, his headphones, just looked the part of the "geeky" Cubs Fan. And the surrounding fans took advantage of the situation, and in turn, ruined that poor guys life.

Yeah, the fans next to him made him the scapegoat. Bartman wasn't the only one reaching for that ball...it just happened to hit his hands. Any one of his neighbors touch that ball and it would have been the same. Didn't he leave town after that happened...after all the threats...and change his name? That's what I would have done! hahaha
  • Gonzalez make the error.
Farnsworth (The Drunk) gives up the sac. fly, and the bases loaded double, the Cubs fall apart. Then they proceed to lose game 7.

And it all gets blamed on Bartman?

One of the sickest debacles in sports history.
They ruined that poor kids life.

Yep..although it would be a nice gesture to invite him to the park to throw out the 1st pitch..There are too many assholes out there and im not sure how it would go..might be better to move on and hope he is living a good life..I for one would cheer..

Lets stay positive here...Enough of memory lane...although I could do it all day..hahah

Who do you guys want to play in the NLCS? I would rather face the mets..I dont like the thought of going up vs kershaw and grenke twice. Not too familiar with the mets young guns..I hear they are very good too..something tells me the mets.

We were 7-0 against the Mets this year.

I think either match up is favorable to the Cubbies. but I would have to say the Mets especially since Ruben Tejada is out. and I don't trust Harvey to bring the goods like Grenke and Kershaw.

Yeah, I remember the hype for all of those guys. I remember Cory Patterson's first at bat, he hit a homer. I remember Chip Carrey going on and on about how much potential he had an how he was going to be the Cub's CF for many years to come. Ha!
Every year or two there for a while it seemed, they'd bring up one of their prospects, everyone got all excited thinking that one guy was going to lead us to the promise land! ha!
