I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it feels like it's taken forever because it's been pretty much over since the 2nd. That's a fairly uncommon practice for the Cubs.

The umpire delay took a while. And not only has the game been virtually over (knock on wood) but the Cubs have really worked Bucs pitching tonight.  Pirates as a team are at 192 pitches tonight with an inning to go. We could be at the 4 hour mark by the time the game ends.

So I just read that Rosario had to be sent down for Kintzler’s spot bc he’s the only reliever on the 25-man with minor league options.

Nice debut for Hamels and Kintzler.  Good to a see a couple of new arms do what was intended.  It was needed.  Next 7 games against the Padres and Royals.  Should go 5-2 or 6-1 if this team is going to take the next step.  The rest of this month should set us up to win the division if the pitching comes through.

I know coming out of the break, the Cubs had the most remaining home games and I believe one of the easiest schedules.

August is when they've seemed to make their mark under Maddon. Let's hope it holds up this year, too.  We have SD, KC, DET, CIN, NYM this month.  We NEED to beat these teams. Not scrape out wins, not come from behind, not lose those series.  We need to BEAT them!!  Sandwiched in between all those are WSH, MIL, PIT and we have a makeup with ATL followed by PHI to close out the month/start Sept.

How awesome would it be to see a Hamels vs Arrieta matchup in the Philly series??  The last two to throw no-hitters for/against the Cubs.

Losing to the Padres? Really? I’m going tomorrow and I pray I see a better showing. I know this game isn’t over but geez...

The Padres came in losers of 7 straight and 5-20 in the month on July.  This is a piss poor showing.  This team is going to make the playoffs, and get swept out.
