Trade deadline quickly approaching. Would be very Cubesque to somehow not trade Dempster or Garza. It's sad but i'm quite confident we will F this up somehow, if we haven't already with Demp veto'ing the trade to ATL and Garza getting hurt

Unbelievable game last night. But, I'm going to miss Reed Johnson. And Maholm has been showing some good stuff lately.

Yeah, I've always like Johnson. Though, he was playing too good to stay. If he wasn't hitting .300+, he'd likely still be a Cub.

I know the Cubs are "rebuilding" or whatever and I have very low expectations for the next couple of years, but this is crazy to me...that they are getting rid of the good players...it is just so funny that the players were playing too well to stay. The whole goal is to have good/great players on your team. :fp: But, I guess they are thinking long term. hopefully, not another 100 years kinda long term.

I just like his gritty, give it 110% every play. Losing a guy who can play any position and plays it well is tough. Hell of a nice guy too!

Exactly! He is a baseball player...you can tell he just loves the game (and that he loved the Cubs). They made the same mistake when they got rid of DeRosa a few years ago..another great utility player and not too bad to look at. :D:lol:

  • A little boy is walking down the street one day and finds a genie jar. He opens it and out comes a genie. Here is the conversation:

G: I’ll give you three wishes.

B: I wish for an XBOX 360, and a PSP and….peace in the middle east.

G: Where is the middle east little boy?

The boy pulls out a map and shows him where the middle east is.

G: Uhm, I dont think I can do that little boy. Do you have another wish?

B: Well, could you make the Cubs win the World Series?

The genie pauses and then says:

G: Lemme see that map of the middle east again

I'll actually somewhat buy that now since it's a bunch of kids that were called up trying to make the team next year. If they are gonna be bad I'd rather watch some kids go through growing pains than overpaid vets who just suck and aren't in their prime or never had one to begin with.

Wow. I leave the country for a just over a week and the team looks completely different.

I expected Reed Johnson and Dempster to be traded but did not expect the Cubs to move Soto, Baker and Paul Maholm.

I am disappointed that they couldn’t trade Garza and Soriano to get some prospects.

Surprised that they promoted Jackson and Vitters. Hopefully, the call-ups will not hurt their long-term development

Also, what happened to our hot streak? The team was playing well (best record in baseball over a month) when I left and now we have lost 6 in a row.

Going to be rough for the rest of the season as we watch all of these kids get on-the-field training.

Things are definitely changing for the Cubs...

Brooks Raley, who started tonight's game, is the 15th rookie to play for the Cubs this year. That is unreal.

The Cubs have already had 46 different players this season.

15 of their 25 current players are new to the Cubs in 2012, and only 6 are left from the last year's Opening Day roster.

Good to see we are at least starting to get rid of the crap Hendry assembled for us. Gonna take awhile though unfortunately.

As GM of the Chicago Cubs, Jim Hendry won 3 Division Titles. Right?
The Chicago Cubs went to the playoffs 3 times with Jim Hendry as GM. Right?

Ill bet ya $20 the Chicago Cubs do not make the playoffs 3 times, for however long Theo remains GM.
