I just expressed that it came somewhat of a surprise to me that you spoke so strongly in the post where you presented the case. I don't know you very well... but if you remember correctly... I jumped to your defence a few months back on this very forum. There is nothing personal between you and I- I don't subscribe to your way of thinking as it relates to several of the topics within this particular thread- no big deal... it's allowed.

You are clearly 'in the minority' when it comes to sympathizing with James Holmes. I would speculate that the numbers are overwhelmingly in favour of a really quick trial and execution. Regardless, you are welcome to your position and we don't need to revisit this topic in too much depth- we've done that already ad nauseum.

I have studied Columbine (followed the case when it happened... read the book, Columbine, which was excellent). Those boys were 'outcasts' for lack of better word, but that doesn't excuse their actions. It is the shits that kids cannot treat each other more fairly, but I have never felt any pity for Eric and Dylan. Kids are cruel, school is cruel, life is cruel... but that doesn't give someone a license to go wreak havoc on innocents as an expression of their rage. If anything, target your specific adversaries... not helpless girls hiding in a library, praying to their lord as they stare down the barrel. No... those boys are where they need to be.
I do remember we share a similar opinion on the legalizing all drugs nonsense.
And no nothing personal at all then or now.

I am clearly in the minority on most subjects so that does not surprise me.
That does not surprise me either the bloodlust for James Holmes.
But it does sadden me knowing mental illness and it's victims.

The link I posted certainly was something I had never read and painted them harshly
as never being victimized by bullying. How I feel about revenge killing goes along
with those who prey on others, as I posted earlier, in most cases.
I do think though the Columbine shooters may have been very ill,
what came first the ill or the bullying I don't know.

I have also known some extremely depressed people and life was not valued, their own or others,
paying back society was a common threat while moving towards suicide.

i just want a more peaceful earth that's all. seems to me women are more peaceful. men in power seem to be war mongers and the like.

for y'alls information... i'd never vote in michele bachman or that screwy ass sarah palin. those two woman are fulla poop six ways from sunday. they aren't good leaders and they sure aren't peaceful... at least palin sure isn't peaceful. she murders wolves & bears for entertainment purposes. i would imagine sara palin collects firearms like some collect bubble gum baseball cards

I wish they could have done something to keep that gun out of the bad guys hand. I'm sure you agree that a cold blooded killer should not come to find himself with a gun as easily as I assume he did.

I certainly believe that if there were more women 'around the table', there would be a bit more conciliation and peace. I am not saying men are useless - far from that. It's just a different way of thinking. The women with some power at the moment (or in recent past) are not what I call 'real' women - such as Merkel, Thatcher, etc. These are women 'being' men in a man's world.

Edit - sorry my quoting went all wrong so I did it some other way - hope I got is right!

Therefore you see how quick a woman's ingenuity, they will always think or figure out a way to solve a problem. 8-)

The number of women world leaders are growing as we speak and even in this country we WILL have a woman as President one day maybe soon.

Ban all ammo. 2nd amendment only says you can bear arms, not be overstocked on ammo!!

2nd, only allow weapons technology in civilian hands from the time this amendment was written.

Laws that don't exist definitely can't keep us safe. As you say g under p, just a few minor changes to the law (which will not have ANY impact on 'responsible, law abiding gun owners') could make a difference. Licensed dealers need to do those checks - why not make ALL arms dealers licensed (internet or not, shows or not) with private sales going via licensed brokers. No skin off the 'responsible, law abiding' person - on the contrary - I would think these people would welcome anything that would make their 'hobby' more responsible. Wanna bet that this shooter was a legal gun owner? (Yes... I know... we don't know anything about this person yet, I'm speculating, etc. but looking back at these kind of shootings, most are with legally obtained firearms). Of course, just this wouldn't keep ALL guns out of bad guys' hands (whatever 'bad guys' may be) and those that do not have criminal records (or recorded mental issues), etc but would help towards that goal. It would make it more difficult for the 'everyday' petty thief to get one... Virtual anonymity can only benefit those with 'intention'.

I think he's saying that by locking your doors you can't claim you are not living in fear, otherwise, why would you lock them?

the difference being, DS, is that locking your doors has no potential to harm anyone. Oh, and stop using the car anology. you are free to use it again if someone drives their vehicle into a shopping mall with the express intent of mowing people down 60 times in one year.

Sorry. Won't stop using the car analogy until it stops making logical sense. Or until it becomes harder to obtain a driver's license and vehicle than it does a firearm. These are very tragic stories...and I feel for those involved, I do, but I'm still waiting for the stories about legal fireamrs that didn't cause any harm yesterday. Also, why is no one in arms that 6 people were killed yesterday in a DWI accident in Albany?

Thai Senator Mistakenly Shot And Killed His Secretary With An Uzi During Lunch

A Thai senator accidentally shot his cousin dead as he tried to put away the 9mm submachine gun that he had placed on the table during a family meal, police said on Monday.

Boonsong Kowawisarat fatally injured Chanakarn Detkard, 46, when he mistakenly fired the Uzi at a private dining area of the Garden Resort, in Phrae province, northern Thailand, on Sunday evening.

But shit...3 times more people were killed in one illegal car accident here in this shit hole of a city than by the highly publicized shooting yesterday? I just wonder how many more were killed in a DWI accident yesterday across the country? I would have to think at least one. :fp: Oh my God...ban the cars and stop this senseless violence!!!!
