I actually love a lot of their songs but what makes me laugh is that a good friend of mind argues with everyone on this point. He doesn't like the Beatles and it cracks me up how many people bug out just because he is a musician and doesn't like the Beatles.
I posted this then ducked out to put on my flame retardant suit before returning  I can't stand them at all.But I have heard such venom from others in the past that I dare to express my utter dislike for them and everything they ever did.

I guess classic is in the eye of the beholder. I am not sure if it's a hit song makes it a classic. We Built This City by Starship was a hit and probably one of the worst songs ever, but is it a classic?
And hating the Beatles just makes one seem ignorant. It's like being a christian and hating Christ. They have so much diverse material there has to be at least one song you like. The other day I put on my wife's Queen record for my daughter because she really likes them. I was amazed by how shitty they sounded on vinyl. It was one of the worst recordings I have heard by a major band. That's the thing about vinyl, there is no covering up. After that we listened to Abbey Road. The difference in sound was huge. The sound of Ringo's drums was perfect. Paul McCartney is one of the best rock vocalists ever and the bass lines are mind blowing. What could anyone hate about that?

Must've had a bad or the wrong Queen vinyl, b/c the ones I have sound epic. Every bit as good as any of Beatles records I have. I'd probably even give them more props for keeping it sounding great with all the layering they would do.
Brown Eyed Girl. NEVER liked it, cannot understand the appeal.

It was a greatest hits album. I know there are different versions out there, so maybe you're right. The vocals generally sounded fine, but there were times where the drums sounded like they were recorded in a shoe box. I also did not care for Brian May's constant overdubs that sounded poorly mixed. No real even blending the way overdubs should sound. Of course everyone's stereo sounds different, so maybe it sounds different on yours.

Anything and everything by Steve Miller. Everyone goes thru a Steve Miller phase in their life and buys Steve Miller Bands greatest hits. Some pass thru this phase quickly while others wallow in it and listen to god awful songs like swing town, the joker, big old jet airliner for the rest of their lives. Fortunately for me the phase lasted about 2 months back in the summer of 91. Luckily some album with a purplish cover came out and saved my life!

It's too bad that Steve Miller has produced so much dreck throughout his career. His earliest albums (Children of the Future, Sailor, Brave New World) are great, although he doesn't seem to think much of them anymore. I can't stand anything he did after that.

I can't stand anything by the Beatles, however as individual musicians I do like their work. My favorite being George Harrison.
What I can't understand is why is it that if you love R&R you MUST somehow love the Beatles. WELl I most certainly don't and it it what it is can't stand the band.

Wondered how long it would take for someone to tar us all as heathens because we don't like the beatles  I dislike them because they are boring to listen to, over hyped as geniuses and over idolised for allegedly changing the history of music.

Fine if you think they're boring, but they are both genius and the single most influential act on modern music pretty much since they started. When 9 out of 10 modern bands cite you as an influence 40 or 50 years later, whether they say it with their words or in their music, that's a feat worthy of the hype. Even with all the overhyping their still overlooked as musicians.
