Posters at the shows

i am sick and tired of going to shows and seeing many, i mean many, people running to all the different merchandise tables and buying multiple copies of the ames posters. i just went to the milwaukee shows and i got there early enough to get a poster each night. but i saw atleast five or six different people buying more than one poster each night. these people would buy the poster, hand it off to one of their friends...then go to the other tables and buy more. the thing that sucks is that the people said they were just gonna sell them on ebay . my friend wasn't able to get a poster from night two...and he didn't get a combo petty/pj poster....and what do ya know...there's like 20 of them on ebay. some of the people on ebay are selling multiple copies. i understand that it's impossible to control how many people buy posters...but i just think people are ridiculous....

I used to do this also...well not to this extent, I would buy one and have my wife buy one also. Of course the second was to sell and pay for my first. Not anymore, I feel bad for the people who get shut out! When you buy a poster I think they draw a bif fucking "X" across your dome letting everyone know you've got yours and you dont get anymore!

the thing that sucks is that when people resell them...you can't get them for face value....they're all like triple in price...it really sucks for the people who don't get them...then have to pay an arm and a leg on ebay to get one

It's beyond lame. I forever applaud the guy who posted on here that he purposefully spilled beer on some chick's roll of 6 posters that she bought.

hahaha...that's amazing...there has to be a better way to keep track of people buying an excess amount of posters....putting a big "X" on the head is a little too much....maybe just a big "x" on your hand with black permanent marker.

Doing something like that just isn't cool....Someone did this to my friend because he had 2 posters, mine and his, while I went to get beer...

I agree that someone selling on ebay is a jerk, but that doesn't give anybody the right to spill on the posters...is it also okay to take their posters and rip them up?

There's no question the easiest thing the band can do to "help" slightly in this matter is to allow every 10c member that buys tickets to the show an option for 1 poster. This will at least put "most" posters in the hands of the right people.

thats just sick and twisted, i've been to three shows this tour, had no problem getting posters, they always seem to have lots when i'm around, thats include cleveland, in which I bought my poster well after the opening act.

    no more posters.

the fun in collecting these has been ruined.

I would just shut my mouth and pay the $100-$250 they are fetching on ebay (I for one can afford it), but it is the idea of the scumbags profiting off me.

I quit collecting and I will be trading most of my collection for tickets or something next tour.

    no more posters.

If you are paying more than $100 for anything you are crazy. Its the idiots that pay that the next day that are the problem. A week after the show the prices come down. I dont blame people for selling posters. A fool and their money are easily parted.

Youd be better off buying them a band aid. If it were me and someone spilt their beer on their posters I would knock their teeth out.

Ultimately your only screwing the person who ends up buying them. Do you think the seller is going to trash them. They will sell them anyway as "near mint"

I wish people would realize that vigilante justice is just immaturity in a different form. Anyone who takes it upon themselves to vandalize someone else's property, NO MATTER what the purpose of that property, is just a flat out asshole. And those of you who condone this behavior are assholes as well.

A vigilante is one who punishes crime on his/her own. Buying 6 Ames posters is not a crime, it's just being selfish. Watch your use of the word "asshole". Buying more than your share of posters- and depriving other fans of their own- is being an asshole.

if you want to trade fine...but don't buy like three or more posters at one show....then you're depriving other people who just want one...

Well, I guess I'm an asshole. I condone this behavior. If 10 club isn't going to enforce the rules, and the vendors aren't going to enforce the rules, then I guess it's up to us.

10club does what it can to enforce. The signs are given to the vendors, and the rules are known by the vendors. In my experience (East Rutherford 2) the vendors WERE the problem, so they do get blamed.
Yes, the folks who buy multiples are selfish, and yes, they are assholes too. That is not even debatable. But nothing is up to us in this! That is fucking bullshit. The vendors allow it, the selfish do it, and at that point it is out of our hands. I'll say this again for the slow and learning imparied:
You DO NOT take it upon yourself to vandalize someone else's goddamn property, no matter what they plan to do with it. That's just plain fucked behavior.

There is no reason multiples should not be allowed. You don't know the circumstances of someone's purchase. Perhaps they are buying one for a diehard fan who couldn't make it and want one for themself. Or some other reason, or to give as a gift or whatever.

It's not like you can truly enforce this anyway. What's the difference between me buying 2. Or me giving my gf who's with me the money to buy the 2nd when she wouldn't buy one before.

It doesn't matter. The rule is ridiculous and unenforceable. Just print more photos.

I'm tired of this art argument bullshit. Clearly the only reason you guys want the posters limited is so you can make money off of them yourself.

Again with your "art argument bullshit?" Clearly you cannot seperate, in your head, something having value and something making money for someone.
There are people in the world called art collectors. They may have something in their collection, to own and to keep forever, and have every right to not want the value to go down just because reproductions of it are made.

And there's a HUGE difference between someone and their girlfriend buying 2 between them, and a vendor selling a single person 5 or 6 or even 10 copies at once. You know this, I know this, and everyone else here knows this.
Your arguments have no substance my friend. Move on.

You have nobody to blame but yourself if you dont get a poster.Ive been to 9 shows so far this tour and gotten a poster everytime except for Cincy when I didnt even try because I didnt want to get to the venue until right when PJ went on.

If somebody in front of you bought 6 then you should have gotten in line before them.

By this same rational should all of us long time collectors get first dibs at posters because we have been collection for 10 years? If its about entitlement shouldnt the long term collectors who started this whole collectibility movement be rewarded before all the newbie parasites that have hopped on the poster bandwagon.

You're mistaken if you think 10C members aren't some of the ones selling on ebay. I don't know what the solution is although I do like the big "X" on the forehead idea. The whole situation has gotten a little out of hand having to get into the venue when the doors open just to try and get one and then hanging out for 2+ hours waiting for PJ. I don't have a collection - just a few favorites. Most of the posters I buy are for people who didn't make it to the show.

These posters are far from art.

They are concert bills. They have been around for ever. While some of them are now worth a good amount of money there was never an issue of suppply and demand like this. This is just stupid and very unPearl Jam and you know that.
