Ditto. I almost forgot about it. At 9:07, my time, I refreshed the page and was able to barely get one. I couldn't even get back to the page after that.

Some really great songs on here...Space Invader is incredible🎸🎙🥁🎹...Weird Goodbyes, Alphabet City, Dreaming, Turn Off The House & Crumble w/ Rosanne Cash are all pretty great but, album closer Smoke Detector just might be the best song they've written since Bloodbuzz Ohio🤔 anyways FTPOF is pretty damn good and Laugh Track is even better😎 It's been a 20 year love affair w/this band and as boring as it may sound they are like a damn fine wine aging just fine! 🖕 the sad dad rock haters!!

listening now, pretty cool that I saw on fb that they had signed vinyl test presses at the show
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

Was just coming to this thread to mention how great Smoke Detector is!  What a closer to the album.  Really good stuff.

Just got shipping confirmation on the signed test pressing. That was a lot quicker than I thought it would be.

It took me seeing both bands this year, but I can say with 100% certainty, The National have far surpassed PJ as my favorite band.
The National are still in their prime.

Wish I could see them but schedules never align for me.

The crazy thing is the National are just a decade younger than PJ and have as many records. Kinda speaks how PJ has kinda generally tapped out over the past decade and a half.

I don’t follow the National as closely as I do PJ outside of the music. Seems like for PJ the priority was about activism, convenience, and time off from PJ after awhile and the music became less important.

I'm just wondering if the whole Ticketmaster debacle and tour just destroyed them mentally. Other artists did not stand with them and they lost. It must have felt defeating. Not to mention the friends who have died around them. They've been through a lot, and it tears at your soul.

I think they just saw what they can do or not do and still get by and they figured they busted their ass in their 30s and now they have families and life goes by fast and they just prioritized something else. It’s a fair decision.

it’s probably doesn’t help having too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to songwriting, but if they think it’s the most fair way to do it, good for them for being fair to each other, but that’s why it also takes them 5 years to make a record now.

Yep, I would (and hope to) do the same.
