    Sorry if you're a fan....

Everytime I've seen them/him at Bridge the DMB groupies seem to make it their job to be the most fucked up people in the joint.

I'm all for having a good time, but it's a fucking concert for a childrens school!

I won't even go in to how bad his sets are! I will never have those hours back in my life.

    Sorry....end rant

  • The worst Bridge lineup ever and it's not even close. There's no real headliner this year. ZZ Top is a band that you can catch at the State Fair, not headling a show that usually includes legendary acts. The Smashing Pumpkins? It's not even the real band, just call it what it is "Billy Corgan & his hurt ego band". Josh Groban, that's a joke right?

Ha! I saw Billy and James play the '99 show? I think?

But I don't get it now. I know it is for a very good cause but I am disappointed for sure.

Actually the Josh Groban appearance could bring a lot of middle age soccer mom cougars to the show!!!!

  • I'm kinda excited. Neil is always great. Wilco will be as well. I saw the Pumpkins last year and they were excellent. Seeing them acoustic will be interesting. Death Cab I enjoyed two years ago and will enjoy again. So that's all good. The rest, except for Josh Groban, has promise to at least keep my interest.

  • kinda feeling weird about it, but kinda glad I can't go this year. I was so sure that PJ was going to be on the bill and that I wouldn't be able to see them. Now seeing they're most likely not playing I'm not feeling extremely disappointed I'm not able to go. On the other hand I know the show's for an extremely great cause so I always hope it sells out.

I was at Bridge School 99 as well. Only difference that year was that Corgan wasn't headlining like this year. 99 had The Who, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Tom Waits & Brian Wilson. All acts that would probably headline this years show.

    Oh my, how ... anti-climactic.

I was just thinkin' even if not perhaps Eddie or PJ itself, maybe Gossard would tack this on to the end of his lil mini tour, he plays the weekend before in SF? I'd still put some credence to that theory, these things fluctuate and folks pop up at Bridge.

But oh man. No PJ West Coast tour and now ... this.

The next "fun" thing is guessing who the headliner actually is, posted lists rarely reflect who get that last tad-longer spot... I'd guess ZZ on Sat and Billy on Sun?

Yeah, Jack, Nora, Death Cab, Wilco -- that'll be ok... oh man. Yawn.

  • Bridge School is a great cause but a lousy concert. Shoreline sucks. Neil never plays anything good. Just one opinion. Will never go to Shoreline again, UNLESS PJ headlines, and then it will be under protest.

Hmm, I thought one year Roger and Pete weren't on the schedule, popped in on the way to the Who show in SJ? was more likely in the earlier years perhaps? But you're right, past few years have been "as announced" -- well, except for that whole PJ right under Neil on all the promos only to get Dave headliner... sigh.

yeahhh. don't know what you're all talking about. no love for wilco? just because no pearl jam or any of its derivatives doesn't mean the show is awful. wilco and the pumpkins on the same night? sounds pretty great to me. say whatever you will about the pumpkins as long as billy and jimmy are around the other two are irrelevant. they put on a great show.

that said, i probably won't be going hah.

I've seen Wilco at the Bridge and I don't remember them being all that impressive. They played early in the day.

Bridge is usually an impressive lineup from top to bottom. There is always a few acts that WOW me, but this year does nothing for me.

The few Bridge School shows that I have gone to have gone like this: a few acts at the top that I am MADLY EXCITED to see (Pearl Jam, Trent Reznor) plus a few at the bottom that I really don't care about (Indigo Girls, Dashboard Confessional, Devendra Banhart, etc.).

This years show is kind of a middle ground, at least to me. I'm not as excited for the top acts as I would be for, say, Pearl Jam, but I am pretty fucking psyched for Wilco and the Pumpkins. However, the rest of the acts (aside from Josh Groban) are all very cool in my book -- I might not pay to go to any of their shows, but I'll definitely recognize a bunch of their songs and enjoy their sets much more than the "bottom" bands from previous Bridge School shows mentioned above.

I mean, Norah Jones, Jack Johnson, Cat Power, Death Cab...that's not bad at all.

I for one am looking forward to the show. It might actually be good news that there are such negative opinions this year...it means a better chance for me to get good seats. :)

people whine every year about the lineup, it's always a great time at the Bridge. Been each year 99 - 07, minus 05, and I'll be there this year. zz top, jack johnson, cat power, neil, norah jones, and dcfc works for me. I think they should add Stone solo to the show to round it out :)

Amen! People *do* whine every year about the line up. Thankfully the whiners make it easier to get tickets & they are also the ones who forget things like... in 2004 Ed wasn't added to the lineup until the day before.

Not saying that Ed will be added this year, but chances of another act or two are pretty good.

Not only do people whine every year, people assume that acts will be added every year. The lineup looks pretty full, especially on Sunday. Pegi Young will be playing a set of her own material, aside from Neil's. I'd say the only chance for an act to be added is on Saturday, and the probability of that is between slim and none.

People aren't whining....They just see this as a boring lineup. I've been to many Bridge School Concerts and I can say they are always excellent. However, this years concert doesn't excite me enough to travel to Nor-Cal to see it. I'm sure others feel the same way.

Yeah Yeah...You can have my tickets.....Blah Blah

People act like we're lucky to have the Bridge School Concerts every year. Like they are doing us a favor and we should all shut up and take what were given.

Well... since the talent doesn't get paid, technically they ARE doing a favor, and it's a benefit so it would be nice if people did shut up and take what they were given.

I agree, people aren't whining. Just because you aren't excited about a line-up doesn't mean you are complaining. I've been to a handful of Bridge shows and always have an amazing time. However, this year I really need to save money. Bridge was going to be my one splurge. But I can't justify spending the money when I am only excited about 2 of the bands, not just on tickets but travel, etc. So I'll save my money and that means two more tickets for someone who does want to go. :)

I don't like the lineup, but their doing me a favor and playing for free...so I should shut up and go....??

  • I wouldn't say it's a dream lineup for me, but I'm interested in seeing almost every act there. The only weird part is that usually they get at least one "veteran" act (like The Who, or Paul McCartney, or Brian Wilson), and on Sunday I guess that role will be filled by the Pumpkins?
