The site is now updated. Slayer will officially headline day 1-Now I can bore all you lot with a tale about how I once met Slayer after a gig in Newport, Wales in 1988-nah I won't bother. May be a totally different audience on Friday to Saturday, not many Slayer fans into Pearl Jam or vice versa-or am I wrong? JUK

Thanks, this morning when I checked it wasn't!
Well, you can always tell a nice story, but I'll go for saturday! I personally don't like Slayer...

Yes, I have to say I'm slightly dissapointed as I bought a 2 day ticket already. I quite liked slayer when I was a teenager, they're not my bag at all nowadays but I do respect them massively-and once in a while the 'reign in blood' cd can get a spin in my car, as a real thrash metal record it really was ahead of the pack. I saw them in Newport 2 years later('88), when they toured 'south of heaven'. To be fair they can be a lot of fun, but some of the lunks that go to their gigs can be a little 'over enthusiastic'. Saying that, the most revved up I ever saw a crowd was the Pearl Jam gig in Cardiff 2000, the roof almost came off the arena and it will live long in the memory. JUK

Ha! My first encounter with Pearl Jam in '93 was the crowd, not the band. Shoes and knees were flying down my neck, pushing pulling, almost falling, going backwards to save my *, that was scary. I wondered if those people were there to enjoy the concert or just hurting as many as they could with their drunk bodies. This wasn't enthousiasm, this was violence.

Yes, around the late 80's/early 90's there was deffo a culture of misbehaving along those lines whilst at a concert. The Cardiff 2000 PJ crowd was simply over excited, it was quite a crush at the front. Thankfully most large concerts now have the second barrier, which cuts that out to an extent. Without sounding like a grouch tho', there is really something about fans of Slayer and their like that comes across as misplaced machismo. Anyhow, maybe my analyzing is just showing my age-so I'll give up. I may well just give that Friday a miss now, explore Madrids nighlife instead-I don't think Slayer can 'reach out' to me the way they could when I was 17!
All together now..."Strangulation, mutilation, cancer of the brain-Limb dissection, amputation, from a mind deranged....Asphyxiation, suffocation, gasping for air, explain to me the feeling after sitting in the chair." Ah, the memories of my teens come flooding back! Love to all, JUK

Maybe old times will relive when you decide to see Slayer!
We're flying to Madrid on saturday and we can discover Madrid the day after. Been there once, also a looong time ago (1986!).
Time will be important on saturday cause we have to get the tickets 2 hours before entrance...hoping we won't have a delay or something. Don't want to think about that...then we have to discover Madrid on saturday too and that would be very harsh. Hell no, I have to be there. Anyone knows how it works when you can't be in time at Butarque to pick up the tickets?

Why do you have to pick up tix 2 hours before entrance? Personally I chose pick up at the venue option at ticktackticket but still have no idea what time we should arrive at Butarque... Anyone have info on that?

no, as I understand it (I've chosen the pick up as well considering how much they craged for shipping!), it's FROM 2 hours before...
  • SylSyl Posts: 149
I believe you're right about that, Pegasus. So it means from 14.00 hours. That's a big reassurance!
According to Tick tack tickets doors open at 16:00.

Well, there's every chance we will decide not to travel down to Leganes on Friday to see Slayer now-so if someone names a bar (and gives us directions) we'll see you all there, in fact I read somewhere there were a couple of Irish bars in the centre maybe we could choose one of them.JUK

The metro station for the venue is San Nicasio, from what I can make out from the festival website, on line 12. Trains run until 1.30am
