Anyone have any news on other bands playing this festival besides PJ? The festimad website only lists PJ and that others are to confirm. Anyone?

yeah..it's starting to worry me.. wouldn't want it cancelled :(
ok, not caring in itself but I have my flights booked.. and no other reason to go to Madrid..would rather have stayed couple more days in Lisbon if it were not for that gig.

nothing else has been advertised because one of the companies who you could buy ur tickets off has declared itself bankrupt and basically kept everyones cash! :P

actually checked and the one I bought mine from is a Ticketmaster subsidiary..so not likely to be that one
still worried about the concert itself though...more money to lose than the ticket, can't get my Lisbon-Madrid flight back (I already tried when the Vueling appeared)

    Don't panic guys!
Pearl Jam confirmed the show in January, right? It's a festival, they won't cancel it for some stupid reasons...I guess there will be other less known acts (especially local hispanian bands) because on the other days the prices were much more cheaper...so let's keep hoping we are gonna have a fuckin great 140 minutes there!

And by the way: I understand Pegasus would like to stay in beautiful Lisbon for one more day but c'mon, Madrid is still one of the coolest and most beautiful cities in Europe!!! You won't get disappointed I am sure!

yes I would..that's why I'm flying there 2 days before this time ;)
never been to Madrid (well, I drove through once..not seen anything though)..but not that interested.. I like Barcelona, somehow i can't get excited by Madrid..
But I hope you're right and it goes ahead..just strange that there's no other act announced..all the other festivals have a complete or nearly complete line-up by now..even much later ones in August!

I read somewhere on the web that it's not that unusual for a Spanish festival to confirm the line up late on, they said it should be sorted in the two weeks. I pray there's no problems, I'm well looking forward to it. The capacity of the show is 20,000, the stadium has a capacity of only 8,000 for football matches-that's where someone got a bit confused. I got a 2 day ticket from ticktackticket does anyone know if that's ok?Also, does anyone know what happens when you get to the gig in relation to the 2nd day-do you get a new ticket or wristband or something? I understand it's the first time the festival has been at this venue, up to last year it was in a park in the city. Let's keep this thread going, there hasn't been a lot on here about Madrid. Love to all, JUK.

Indeed, up until two years ago it was in a big park. Last year it was in a bullring in the outskirts of the city (which sucked, as it was half covered, very hot and crap acoustics). Last year the tickets were free and they had a lottery for them: Tool headlining night 1, Alice in Chains the next. The place was barely 50% full on AIC night. I think it´s strange nothing has been announced yet: Spanish festivals don´t announce acts THAT late. I think the most likely thing is that there will be lots of local/unknown bands playing (they had this last year too) although to be honest I think I saw doors open at 2 which only leaves time for 2 or 3 bands before PJ. As for the ticket system, I already have my one day PJ ticket, and it´s a normal ticket. I reckon you will just get two tickets separately...

Forgot to say, as for Ticktackticket, they are indeed reputable and sell ticket for about half the gigs in Spain (gamerco sell the other half)...

Hi, I'm going to Madrid too, make it a long weekend over there.
I believe we will enjoy Pearl Jam at Festimad, at least I hope so, because in the first place I planned this trip for them..

    Last rumour ..

No other bands will play that day. I mean international bands.

There is a contest for local bands and two of them will open, that's it. So we might get a full Pearl Jam set :)

The venue capacity is 20000, one of the smallest of the tour and the tickets were the cheapest by far.
    1996: San Sebastian
    2000: San Sebastian

    a Proper show! wohoo!
20.000..well, London, Copenhagen, Munich and now Düsseldorf are smaller..
but as long as it happens, it's all good... except there's no 10c tickets and I'm not getting there before the afternoon..mmm... got to think that one through..

This sounds GREAT!! It will be fun. The longer Pearl Jam plays, the better.
Btw the Duesseldorf venue has become much smaller now!

Hopefully Festimad won't be fucked up 'cos I had prepared for every possible needs for a long weekend and PJ show in the Spanish royal capital (Madrid = a dream will come true)...and I have 4 different low cost flight tickets to Madrid and back to Budapest:) so if anything wrong happens in those airports (delays, cancellation, strike etc) I am gonna weep and cry VERY LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:( and be stuck in a fuckin' faraway airport by the way :o

Just my fear also. Flying from Amsterdam on saturdaymorning, land around noon. Then rapidly get my tickets. Studied the Madrid plan and subway and all, but if anything goes wrong...
  • jamie ukjamie uk Posts: 3,812
Good to hear that reassurance. I only got 1 ticket, though it does say that it is for 2 days-but it seems strange to have to hold on to a flimsy paper ticket whilst at the 1st day, I thought maybe they would issue a wrist band when we got there-or something along those lines. The tickets were very lowly priced for a 2 day festival, maybe it's because of the local bands you anticipate-rather than any big names. I have to say I was crossing my fingers for Smashing Pumpkins, as I read that they are in Europe this summer-it seemed the obvious choice. Just my wishful thinking I suppose. There's plenty of BIG names going around this summer, it seems odd that they couldn't pick another one up to go alongside PJ. Let me know all the info about Madrid that I need if you would, I have booked a hotel near Puerto Del Sol-is that a good choice? I know it's a journey to the gig, but it seems a good central point for the city. Love to all, JUK

Smashing Pumpkins are playing a mini one day (well, one evening!) festival in the Madrid bullring, with The Killers and Kasabian on the Tuesday before Festimad. I was also hoping for them to play Festimad....the other band I thought would fit in (and are doing festivals this summer) is Queens of the Stone Age, but no, their tour schedule now wouldn´t allow for the Fri in Madrid.

Puerta del Sol is fine, very central and in the middle of everything. There´s no way you would have wanted to stay near the festival venue; it´s a bit of a dump....

If you´re interested, Ash are playing a tinnnnny venue in Madrid on the Thursday before Festimad Friday...

    :o)
  • SylSyl Posts: 149
As the rumour said local bands. Maybe Festimad spent the whole budget on Pearl Jam so they couldn't afford more big names. I don't care personally. I even like nice Spanish bands, it's a great language.
We have booked a Hostel near Puerta del Sol too. There were lots of payable hostels in the centre. We thought, get right in the middle of Madrid!

I honestly dislike Ash...but Keane, Supergrass and Stereophonics would be perfect supporting acts:)!!!

Well, I'm not big on Ash-but they're ok, I have to say Keane are a little tiresome, I wouldn't argue with Stereophonics as another choice. Manic Street Preachers are on the road, I'd be well impressed if they were named-but to be honest I'm not that bothered, I'm sure all of us are going for one reason. Anyone reading who lives in Madrid? Let us know a good bar for the Sunday, as we don't fly home 'til Monday morning. Cheers JUK

Slayer will headline the first day of the festival. Looks like no other "big" names will be added, they will confirm the full line-up soon.

Is anybody here flying from Lisbon to Madrid in vueling airlines on saturday morning?
