He wasn't really "in" the audience. He was standing on the steps at the inside of the barricade. It made him look like he was "in" with us. It was for "Last Kiss" only.
I think you asnwered yes. By the way, ELP was great and Trilogy is probably their best album. Lots of keyboard jams. Emerson probably best rock keyboardist and Palmer top-3 drummer (Bonham, Peart & Palmer probably top-3). brain of c will say it is endless noodling but actually ELP is great stuff. I found the integration of Boom and the style for the song they chose in 2003, and finally mastered at MSG#1, to be a nod to ELP. There was a lot of debate in this board as to whether new vs. old style was better. I like new because the studio was so perfect, so orgasmic, that any attempt was just not quite there. The new style brought new life to it. Like what Led Zeppelin would have done. Fargo 2003 was a bust. Still not sure what that was. Like a newborn kangaroo. Wasn't ready. junped out of the pouch in MSG in my opinion. I'm entitled to one aren't I?
no the new in my tree fucking blows, its obvious matt cant handle it or didnt like playing it after 2000. i miss jack so much
I thought last night's show was amazing. I spent Sat night 10 rows back on Stone's side, and last night in the front on Mike's side. Honestly, things were really pretty calm down low. Once everyone gets compressed there is pushing but don't be scared- just go for it. Make friends with the people around you and they can have your back. The key is to just go with the flow- don't fight it. I was raised on the East Coast- the crowds out here are far more chill so I may be desensitized.
The whole setlist was amazing. It literally felt like 4 minutes- a total blur. I was dying to hear Army Reserve and was thrilled when they played it. My personal highlights were Leash, Rearviewmirror, Army Reserve, Inside Job, and basically every song on the setlist Last Kiss was great out in the crowd.
As far as comparing Sat and Sunday nights shows- I think Saturday was more intense, more adrenaline and rocking. Sunday was more subtle and beautiful. I def couldn't pick one over the other- each had their own style.
1st, hey to all this people i hung out w/ in line, scott & his wife, Jeremy and new fiance (congrats), Casey -the girl who "accidentally" bought tickets for the 18th and not the 16th (she got in anyway). didn't see any of you after... this is clint BTW.
i close to the stage on stones side. the 1st 6 songs i was in the washing machine of crowd, it RULED!!! i haven't been to a show like that in YEARS. by the time it calmed down i was about 40 feet away. (it's fine, i'm tall). i ended up hanging out the rest of the show with this cool girl and i made sure she could see the stage.
Driftin' and in my tree were highlights for me.
deep thought: if "wasted reprise" is played BEFORE life wasted...should it not be called "Wasted PRELUDE"? chew on that.
This was an amazing show. Here's a couple of things that jumped out at me.
1. The crowd was better than Saturday. The balcony was much more into this show I felt. That front section of the balcony on Stone's side was going wild the entire show.
2. Maybe the best version of Alive I've ever seen in person.
3. The alternate versions of Garden and RVM. They definitely switched these two up a little since I've last heard them. Even Flow as well with the drum solo. If Ed hadn't slipped on the first verse of RVM I would have easily considered it the best version I've ever seen.
4. Stone was great on Fuckin' Up. This version was 10x better than the one from Shoreline in 2003.
5. Last Kiss. It's probably my least favorite song to hear live but it really worked on this night. Ed didn't screw up the lyrics and him being out in the crowd made it memorable.
6. Every song from the new album was played in the first 2 nights. That's impressive. The new stuff sounds great live and it doesn't kill a shows momentum like Riot Act and parts of Binaural did. Can you imagine if they would have tried to sneak in Thumbing My Way or NAIS last night? It wouldn't have worked and the shows gathering energy would have been sucked out. I actually like those 2 songs but it's just a fact.
Where do I even begin? I don't even know what the fuck happened last night (or the night before)!!! Where was I? I went to sleep (even though I swear I was already sleepin & dreamin) with THE biggest grin on my face 2 nights in a row. My face hurts and I fuckin LOOOOOOVE IT! Was this real?? Sure doesn't feel like it. I mean, I knew the HOLY SF TRIO was gonna be HOLY but my fuckin ass I was not prepared for what's been going down! These shows are completely and totally blowing my MIND! THEY ARE LOVIN IT UP SOMETHING FIERCE IN MY BACKYARD!
First off, our group last night was the BEST! We fuckin rocked that lower balcony to bits! Before the show I was saying how we were gonna make that fucker BOUNCE...and guess what!? We actually did! I said YEEEEEAH! \m/ Our section was THE BEST SECTION EVER! Everyone around us was absolutely amazing. The energy that you felt before the show had even begin was enough to get me lightheaded. A guy jumping up and down to the left of me screaming "Yeeeeeah we're on Stone's side!" <~~ you don't hear that shit everyday. haha. *already...in love* People behind us that were side by side with me night 1 with their IN HIDING on one side and DONT GIMME NO LIP on the other??? I mean, these are MY PEOPLE to the extreme. Being able to share it in all and react to things with my fellow Stoney Ponies was the absolute greatest thing. I was with my dearest Meddledeal too! Finally! And PATI! Dissident girl...Mikey even saw how much she was freaking out and pointed at her. The band was feeling it all to the max in SF. And Lisa (omg I still can't believe you were there! I love you!) And Mel! I mean, all 5 of us had the fuckin STONEY LOVE FEST of a lifetime (omg I can't even begin to imagine THE GORGE!). Gotta love the ghetto spontaneous "STONEY G FAN CLUB" banner. ahahhahaha. YES!!! Matt is officially nominated as Vice President. He was lovin the hell outta that thing. Ok, more of that later. But yeah, I was on cloud nine and high as a damn kite before the show had even begin!
DRIFTING??? Already gasping for air! OMG that was beyond gorgeous!!
SOMETIMES? Whaaaaat? Is this happening? I'm not sure exactly how long that lasted up till the fuck up but I don't care, those little bits were straight up heaven and everyone was freakin the hell out! I thought it was hilarious. haha. Then immediately just going into Severed Hand@? I SAID YEEEEEAH!!!
The entire SHOW was the highlight! No joke. But yes, the songs I especially lost it during....
OH MY GOD!!!! I got ID, In my tree, Garden, Army Reserve, Blood & Leash.
Ummmmm~~~>EXACTLY buddy!! EXACTLY!
I mean ALL these songs on the same set? Sometimes, Severed Hand, Whipping
Animal, Marker In The Sand, Dissident Army Reserve In My Tree, Garden, I Got Id, Inside Job Bloooooooooood, Leash, Fuckin’ Up
IN MY FUCKIN TREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!?? AHHHH!!!!!!! *collapses* Here it was.*tears* I can't even.... I just cant even put into words how deeply this song GETS my nature girl soul. To have it played in my backyard?? Are you fuckin kidding me? It was absolute perfection. It sounded/felt so beeeeeautiful. I could not stop smiling and hippie dancing it UP! So high! Soo fuckin high. Like everyone else said too, it wasn't the "new" IN My Tree. This shit had an old kick to it. Boom still did his awesome thing, but the intro had some old flava going on for sure! I personally don't care what version they play the magic is always there but still.....it was sooooooo overwhelmingly amazing.
BLOOOOOOOD! IT'S.....MY....>BLOOOOOOD!#!@$%#$@# AHGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! *thrashes everything in sight* PJ GIRL GONE WILD! Hooooly shit this song!!! \m/ haha..as usual, sorry to everyone around me. Nadi, Pati...props once again on planning this shit out days in advance;). haha. "Ok if they play BLOOD let's just go.... over here....." ahahahhaa.
ALIVE! Eddie bowing down to us?! *just got chills* and blowing us kisses??? SO much love my heart felt like it was going to cave in! I have NEVER seen him love up on a crowd all like this! EVER! I mean we all know how he feels about Boston and yes, major praise always happens there. And SD? Always a giant love fest! But this? This? Again, I have NEVER seen him that taken back by/in love/in awe of a crowd. We brought him to his knees, we gave HIM fuckin chills!!!!!! That is the most I have ever seen him touch his heart. He was doing it over and over and over. Alright, typing this out is honestly making me cry. To see this, to feel this, to know that we were creating this, recycling this??? My god. Sooooooo fuckin beautiful! One of THE most beautiful things I have ever witnessed/been a part of. My god! After he went over to Mikey's side and bowed down to the crowd, he went center stage and thats when he blew those kisses! Awwww!!! Then he came over to the side stage and went down the line of our row on the lower balcony and gave us all individual smiles and waves! *slaps self* Unfuckinreal. So much magic. So much love! They are lovin it up in SF like never before!!
Stoney Goss...yeah thats right~> YOU FUCKIN OWNED BEYOND BELIEF! Yeeeeeah! Those dances, that headbanging, that shreddin, those solos. This unbelievable talent thats just exploding into a million pieces! All night just OWNING that shit! Tweaked out Stoney solo bliss during Insignificance and RVM but the motherload was Fuckin Up? lastexit78, hell yeah man THANK YOU! Did the rest of you people see the man FUCKIN IT UP during that solo?!?! *jaw on floor* The man was in flames!!!!! Of course our kick ass section was going nuts for the RIFF/GROOVE MASTER. DUCK GONE WILD!
Oh yeah, so we made a ghetto spontaneous "STONEY G FAN CLUB" sign and sticker/gum glued it up on the front of the balcony right directly below us.
Jeff was the first one to see it when the show started and he just started laughing. hehe. Then a few songs later Matt pointed at it and smiled. Little bit later he gave it a thumbs up. He also pointed to my STONE sign and then pointed at Stone and smiled. We kept trying to get Stoney to look in our direction but it just wasn't gonna happen. Finally at the very end of the show they all do the super special line up and get ready for the bow, our supporter Matt grabs Stoney's shoulders and tries to force him to turn around and look at his Fan Club. haha. He wouldnt!! He was shy as hell. We embarassed little Stoney G! hahah. Awwww! It was so damn cute! There was really soooooooooo much Stoney love in the house and again, our entire balcony section and the one next to us were so STONEd! So much for Stoney not getting enough love at shows! Muhahha. Too much love for him to even handle. haha. We couldnt help but laugh. So after the show Lisa (yahamita), from our Stoney G Fanclub, is kickin it outside the venue near the buses waiting for a friend....dancing and singing to BREATH (which we are feeling. BREATH IN SF! BREATH IN SF!). Anyways, the rest of us are scattered all over but Lisa is just dancing around near the buses when all of a sudden one of the doors opens and someone calls her over. He tells her "this is for YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS FROM STONE."! And she opens her hand to find exactly 5 picks for the 5 of us! Ummmmmmm???? Personally delievered from the man himself??? AHHHHH!!! I can't even deal with that!!! I didn't let go of that sucker all damn night,. I can't even explain what this means. STONEY THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! You are the fuckin MAN! All this love? God it's just so fuckin beautiful. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU PEARL JAM! I can't say these words enough. I can't.THANK YOU (biggest understatement EVER!) Stoney?? It's "personal"!! You have no idea! *tearing up* Wow! I am so in shock. WOOW
And THANK YOU MATT FUCKIN CAMERON for all the support. hehe. Not only are you the Vice Prez of the STONEY G FAN CLUB...but you're also a member. ahahah.

I have got to write about that one asap too but I just really needed to get this all out right now. I am just floored like HOLY FUCKIN SHIT WAS THAT REAL? No way it was. All those songs on the same set? All that love? Then personally delivered LOVE? *heart caves in*

From the floor, it was certainly true and obvious that the Stone balcony ROCKED. Very impressive showing. Vedhead27, great write up... love your passion.
Different topic and a rambling thought -- reading so damn many posts on here, and then you go to a show and you may be rocking out with someone you debated/discussed/shared with on the Message Pit and not even know it. I wish I had some freaky PJ superpower or 10c magical glasses (Kat/Sea, see what you can do, huh?) that as I looked at the people in the crowd, their PIT ID floated above them (like the freakin Arby's commercial) so I can put a picture/persona with their ID.

"Kisses for the glow...kisses for the lease." - BDRII
One final rant from last night... those of you who insist on talking loudly when Eddie addresses the crowd (or when Jeff !!!! takes the mike like he did last night), please shut the hell up!
That goes for you -- the guy who was behind me on Stone's side that continued to yell about Eddie's wine... enough already.
And to show that I'm not all about the rant -- here's a few things I loved about last night:
* Can you beat the set list? (Only if they played "No Way")
* Why Do I keep fucking up?
* Special guests The Avengers? You can tell Jeff and the boys really were excited.
* Cool security passing out water to those in the Pit.
* The lower balcony rocked hard.
* Eddie's use of his guitar as a laser beam of enlightenment -- shining the spot light on every section of the crowd and giving first props to those in the upper sections.
* Did I mention Jeff taking the mike and addressing the crowd?
* Cameron was on fire last night and really had a blast.
* Several times last night the Mike, Jeff, Eddie, & Stone were all front stage singing to the crowd --- sooo cool.
* Eddie coming over Stone's side in Ledbetter saying goodby and throwin out the kisses to the crowd
* Big group good night bow at the end of the set
* I have faith that somebody cool knocked the shit out of the idiot that threw the glow stick (?) and hit Matt's drum kit during Ledbetter.
Ok, that last one was a little negative, but WTF?
Peace... see you Tuesday. Now I can get back to work.

WOOW
And THANK YOU MATT FUCKIN CAMERON for all the support. hehe. Not only are you the Vice Prez of the STONEY G FAN CLUB...but you're also a member. ahahah.
What a night. I am still in a total dream like state. As if night 1 didn't already floor me enough. Night 1 was absolutely phenomenal!! I have got to write about that one asap too but I just really needed to get this all out right now. I am just floored like HOLY FUCKIN SHIT WAS THAT REAL? No way it was. All those songs on the same set? All that love? Then personally delivered LOVE? *heart caves in*
I've also met so many countless amazing people in the lines and just in general. *WAVE TO ALL MY FRIENDS* Oh shit they really played IN MY TREE last night!? FUCK! But yes yes, friends old & new...you are all so damn beautiful and as always, are just adding to the high. *screams from highest mountain top* PEARL JAM FANS ARE THE BEST! I love you all!!

What a show indeed! Was up in the lower balcony, pretty much right of center in front of Stone. We had a great crew rocking out, great energy! Oh why oh why did EV forget the words to Sometimes!!!!??? I flipped when they started it, very bummed it wasn't finished. First In My Tree of 06, gotta love that! Blood! The Avengers!! Eddie in the crowd for Last Kiss!!! Jeff taking the mike! Eddie bowing to the crowd during Alive! The guitar "laser"!!! Great f'n night! Glad I got to meet some fellow 10c's and some very cool folks at the shows. To all going tomorrow night, have a blast...I'm jealous.
The boys only replayed six (6!) songs over night I and night II: Alive; E Flo; WWS; Severed; Courd; Life Wasted; & YL (I'm not counting Wasted Reprise).
Pre-show Driftin! Only 4x played ever! I am so excited for tonight!
BTW, I read a review that said they played Rats, WTF, don't these reviewers know anything??
Bought the boot for the 1st night and it is so sweet. I need the other two for my flight on Friday.
And I'm not living this life without you, I'm selfish and clear
And you're not leaving here without me, I don't wanna be without
My best... friend. Wake up, to see you could have it all
I was in the very front on Stone's side. There was a Canadian guy (whose name I cannot remember for the life of myself) who took some sweet videos. I would love to see those.
wow again.........first off, thanks for the youtube link of Last Kiss.....that was sweet.....and Lydia, darling you made momma cry.....not the boohoo shit, just tears welling up making it hard to read your (as always) incredible & energetic review!!! I'm so glad for all of us that we've been able to share the magic.......I bought the flac boot of nite 1 and am so stoked about the quality......tonite is gonna be spectacular........
I was in the very front on Stone's side. There was a Canadian guy (whose name I cannot remember for the life of myself) who took some sweet videos. I would love to see those.
I hung out with the Canadian guy all day in line. And then I was with him at night when we met Eddie. Really cool guy. I was right behind you on Stone's side. I can't stop talking about these shows and the time I had. I was able to snag some sweet ass photos over the first 2 shows!
you and your sister ROCKED! my brother and i had a blast meeting you guys and hanging out during the show.
sorry to hear your sis suffered a drumstick injury -- i hope it wasn't my fault.
the show kicked ass! it was my first g.a. show since my very first PJ show in '96. i'd forgotten how much fun the floor could be.
a great setlist with so many unique moments -- eddie in the crowd for 'last kiss', a song i'm usually ambivalent about but sung this way i LOVEd it.
'in my tree' was a nice treat -- i know some people are saying it wasn't their favorite rendition but still hearing it live is awesome. 'big wave' had SO MUCH energy live....what a fun song. garden and leash (first time hearing either in a long, long time) were great. the energy through the show kept building and building making the second encore really solid. all in all, a spectacular show. thanks to all the great people i met in line and on the floor -- you made the show that much better.
see you all tonight!!!

I just want to say thanks to all the people who were in the front on Mikes side, apart for one drunk idiot with his wasted girlfriend (i think there might be a picture of them earlier in the thread) everybody was awesome. I had a blast. everybody was singing along to every single song and taking care of each other.
this was one of my favorite concerts, highlights for me, were in my tree, insignificance, army reserve, american in me w/ the avengers, drifting. I had never heard sometimes live, and I'm not sure that I can cross that one off my list yet. maybe next time.
The band seemed to be enjoying the show just as much as the fans, which made for a great show. I don't think I've seen stone as animated as he was sunday night.

haha.. I believe it! was he with some friends at least?
it looked like he was with family. Or somebody's family. Someone who looked like it could have been his dad, a woman, and about two elementary-school aged kids.
I think he rented the family for the night, actually.
We didn't bother him while he was eating, but we did serenade him with a "Booooooooom!" on the way out.
Denny's didn't know what the hell was going on.

So this might get a bit sappy... please bear with me!
Sunday night was my FIRST ever pearl jam show... it was the fulfillment of a 12-year old dream / quest. It must've been around 1993-94 when I first started listening to the band and I instantly fell in love. I grew up in Karachi, your typical troubled / angsty / lost / lonely soul, didn't connect with family, all my friends were superficial gits, didn't know what my purpose was. PJ was what I clung on to during the worst times; it gave me hope, it gave me company, it gave me joy, it spoke to me. I was obsessed, and have been ever since. When I listened to them perform live on many bootlegs, I just knew that I HAD to see it myself one day... I couldn't die happy without ever having been to their concert. Far-fetched as it was (being in another country where they were just NEVER going to come), i somehow felt it was my destiny. When I moved to the US 2 years ago, the excitement was mostly due to the fact that i'll finally get to see them, but they've been off-tour till now. So it's been a LONG wait, but sunday night was worth it!
The show.... so many highlights: eddie forgetting 'sometimes' and later apologizing profusely, ed using the guitar to deflect the spotlight onto the crowd, IMT was heaven, leash, dissident, all the new songs, all the old songs, the middle-finger salutes to the bush administration at the start of 'why do i keep fucking up'; watching mike play close-up is just pure entertainment, but listening to his leads is mind-blowing; the crowd, most of whom rocked on each and every song, most of whom were (shockingly for me) even more devoted than me. i saw the stone fan-club on the balcony...you were amazing. i was 3 feet away from the 2 guys who were fighting over matt's drumstick... idiots didn't even have the decency to wait till the band left the stage. but the 2nd and 3rd encores were incredible, the energy was great. it sucked being solo, but i have no right to complain really. i feel blessed that everything that's happened in the last few years led me to sunday night. i've been floating around with the most content and satisfied smile, and i can't wait to go again tonight!
I flew from Calgary to San Fran just for the shows. We went on Sat and Sunday. Seriously could not have written a better set list for Sat night. Indifference is one of my all time favorites. We were in the Balcony that night though, and the crowd was crappy all around us. I was the only one rockin' out. The ppl behind me actually got a security guard to ask me to sit down! Anyway I was super pumped to be on the floor with everyone on Sunday night. We stood in line outside since 10am on Sunday, and it was totally worth it! We were able to secure a spot on the rail, stone's side, near the back of the middle barricade.
Oh yeah! Right where Ed was singing last Kiss!!!! Hanging onto Ed's hand while he was singing was totally surreal! As he finished and came down off of the step, he shook my hand and all I could say was Thank you Ed Thank you! It was totally unbelievable! Wow.
I am back home now, so I am not going to be at the show today. Have fun to all those lucky enough to go, I know it will be awesome!

Cool, thanks very much.
Here's hoping for Immortality on Tues! Cya there!
Here are my photos of the first two nights:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthew_/sets/72157594202431884/
i close to the stage on stones side. the 1st 6 songs i was in the washing machine of crowd, it RULED!!! i haven't been to a show like that in YEARS. by the time it calmed down i was about 40 feet away. (it's fine, i'm tall). i ended up hanging out the rest of the show with this cool girl and i made sure she could see the stage.
Driftin' and in my tree were highlights for me.
deep thought: if "wasted reprise" is played BEFORE life wasted...should it not be called "Wasted PRELUDE"? chew on that.
now i must wait for tuesday!!!
First night was very rowdy up front, second night was alot more calm with cool people!
These shows kicked ass, I liked the 2nd better myself.
1 more to go and then off to the Gorge!
See you all next week!
BTW what fricking sweet setlists!

Ummmmm~~~>EXACTLY buddy!! EXACTLY!
I mean ALL these songs on the same set?
Sometimes, Severed Hand, Whipping
Animal, Marker In The Sand, Dissident
Army Reserve
In My Tree, Garden, I Got Id, Inside Job
Bloooooooooood, Leash, Fuckin’ Up
IN MY FUCKIN TREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!??
DUCK GONE WILD!

god i loved that show
Different topic and a rambling thought -- reading so damn many posts on here, and then you go to a show and you may be rocking out with someone you debated/discussed/shared with on the Message Pit and not even know it. I wish I had some freaky PJ superpower or 10c magical glasses (Kat/Sea, see what you can do, huh?) that as I looked at the people in the crowd, their PIT ID floated above them (like the freakin Arby's commercial) so I can put a picture/persona with their ID.
See everyone tomorrow night!
Sweet Jesus, Lyd... I felt like I was watching you AT the show reading your review!
I hope to god it shows up on the Touring Band 2006 DVD 'cuz I want to FEEL that energy!
If I had to decide which show I was going to at gun point, it would be THAT show.
Damn, why can't you learn sign language too...
I am very glad you all, including Mel, had a BLAST and showed what a rock show is all about!
Oh, edwho - stuff it, I "was" there.

I think he rented the family for the night, actually.
We didn't bother him while he was eating, but we did serenade him with a "Booooooooom!" on the way out.
Denny's didn't know what the hell was going on.
for the least they could possibly do
Sunday night was my FIRST ever pearl jam show... it was the fulfillment of a 12-year old dream / quest.
