OH MY GOD!!!! I got ID, In my tree, Garden, Big Wave, Army Reserve, Blood & Leash. These are in my top 10. In my tree probably my #1. I wish I could have gone. A toast to those who were able to make it up there.

First song aborted, Ed forgot the lyrics. Just opened his mouth and nothing came out. They moved on to Severed Hand. It was great, the whole place was clapping for him and loving it. He later admitted it's the first time he has ever forgotten lyrics to an opening tune.

Highlights: Ed sang Last Kiss is the middle of the audience on the floor.

In My Tree - nice to hear, been a long time for me

    In-sig-nif-i-cance!

Army Reserve - believe it's the first time I have heard it live now. It works well.

Dissident, Leash, Blood, Animal, RVM - Certainly a VS. Night! Blood was great, nice red lights behind them. RVM smoked tonight!

    Fuckin' Up was for Neil!

American In Me - Big thumbs down for me, would have rather heard another song from Vs.!

Hopefully can make it back up for Tuesday night!

To Sleepy Joe behind the fence, have a good sleep.

To the two cute sisters, see ya Tuesday, same place!

Was In my tree done in the Emerson, Lake & Palmer style like MSG 2003? Or more like the studio version?

just got back...unreal show. wife and i walked into the venue at exactly 7:30, just as eddie walked onto the stage for the pre-set (drifting). i had listened to this song earlier in the day, and thought to myself, "no way i'm lucky enough to have them play it tonite." sure enough, we were within 50 feet of him, plucking away.

sometimes was cut short b/c ed forgot the lyrics, and later explained that they didn't have a chance to do a soundcheck b/c ed and jeff (?) were doing an interview regarding the carbon emissions of the tour issue.

corduroy, wws, mits, dissident, in my tree, garden, i got shit, rvm, wasted reprise, american in me, alive, last kiss, blood, leash, etc. all highlights (yes, i know that's 2/3 of the set).

eddie appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the floor for last kiss. wife and i were maybe 15 feet away from him, and i had to pick her up for her to get a sick view.

stone's guitarwork on fuckin' up was un-fricking-believable. blood was especially good.

great closing songs. looking forward to tuesday. see you all there.

Just got back, this was my 9th show this tour, my favorite for sure. American in Me was really cool, as well as Blood & Leash. The different version of In My Tree was great to hear as well. The crowd was crazy, everyone was really into it the whole time...

I dont know what EMerson Lake & Palmer is.. but it definitely was NOT like the studio version

I think you asnwered yes. By the way, ELP was great and Trilogy is probably their best album. Lots of keyboard jams. Emerson probably best rock keyboardist and Palmer top-3 drummer (Bonham, Peart & Palmer probably top-3). brain of c will say it is endless noodling but actually ELP is great stuff. I found the integration of Boom and the style for the song they chose in 2003, and finally mastered at MSG#1, to be a nod to ELP. There was a lot of debate in this board as to whether new vs. old style was better. I like new because the studio was so perfect, so orgasmic, that any attempt was just not quite there. The new style brought new life to it. Like what Led Zeppelin would have done. Fargo 2003 was a bust. Still not sure what that was. Like a newborn kangaroo. Wasn't ready. junped out of the pouch in MSG in my opinion. I'm entitled to one aren't I?

    One word .... BLOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely incredible! This show blew away night 1!!!

For those who haven't seen Leash this tour ....

I'm one of the MANY people who weren't lucky enough to see Leash during its first performance this tour. I was hoping they'd play it in Toronto, but as we all know they saved it for later in leg 1. It was a little upsetting and I figured it wouldn't be the same when I'd eventually hear it. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! When I heard Jeff play the intro I was completely freaking out!

Almost forgot ... I've now heard the entire new album performed live! I think I was jumping around like a freak when Ed announced Big Wave (the last song I hadn't heard).

Funny, Fargo03 happens to be my favorite of the new versions of In My Tree.

There's just something spontaneous and uplifting about it.

The weird thing about Pearl Jam, and you all will agree, is that even when they make mistakes, we love it.

  • If I could have handpicked a setlist it would have looked and sounded something like this.

I was at last night's show too and today's show just soared into the stratosphere because of the song selection: In My Tree, Insignifance, Lukin, I Got Shit, Marker in the Sand, Army Reserve, Come Back!!!!!!!, Inside Job, Blood. A definite nod to the new album and Vs. If Ed had gotten through Sometimes I would add No Code too.

I was 30 feet from the stage on the right side and my immediate area was mellow although nearby the occasional fight broke out amongst the testosterone + alcohol set. People were getting plucked from the front of the crowd throughout the concert (either passing out or wanting to get the hell out of there). Definitely more intense than Saturday for the brave on the front lines.

Overall just a sick, sick show. I even met two beautiful women from Santa Cruz. Hi Amy and Amy. I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to the live set. I was at the last Gorge show and S.F. saturday night and was able to walk away without the boot. But I'll be purchasing tonight's show. It was that good.

I've been to eight shows and tonight was the best by far. It's the closest I've ever gotten to the stage, about 15 feet from Mike! Just great energy, great setlist and great people!

    See you Tuesday!

i loved hearing so much of the new album, but the rest of the setlist didnt include a lot of my faves. maybe ive been spoiled by the previous shows ive attended. highlights for me were inside job and penelope houston joining the band for american in me. i also met some great people, and the guy who bought my extra tickets absolutely ROCKS! he was my savior in the pit more than once and just a great guy, nothing less of what i expected from a fellow fan. maybe im getting old but being on the floor had some rough moments, and eventhough im pretty tall (5'9) i couldnt see about 75% of the time. and i think eddie might have set a record for most lyric flubs in one show. still i wouldnt trade tonight. and i decided id better go tuesday!!
  • Great show tonight, very cool setlist. Band and crowd had great energy. My wife and I were on Mike's side, not far back. Mr. McCready has become a show unto himself, it's awesome. Mike is all over the place, acknowledging the crowd like crazy. As someone else posted, there was the everpresent Drunken/Testosterone fueled idiots in attendance. A few felt the need to completely try to barge through people to get to the front. One idiot spent 10 minutes trying to shove his girl right through us, but we held our ground. Eventually said idiot found another route, and since I'm tall I could watch the trail of this idiot as he pummeled his way through pissed off fans. Both groups who disrupted our area were the typical skin head looking, sweaty soccer hooligan types. That's one of the reasons I wish the 10 club tickets were reserved seats, completely does away with this crap.

Here's tip for Tuesday. Unless you're a big Sonic Youth fan, bring ear plugs. What they lack in talent and creativity they make up for with absolute noise. Loud noise, if you catch my drift. Kim Gordon just can't sing. My apologies if you're a fan, but they look like 5 homeless people belting out garage noise. My ears were shot by the time PJ came on.

    Here's a few pics I took.

Oh, and here's one of the worst offending jerkoffs. He decided halfway through the show that he should be at the front. This guy used his girlfriend as a battering ram to get where he wanted to go. I would have loved to have a cow prod on-hand to bring him down and brand "dick head" across his brow.

  • Hey so check this out guys...if you plan on rocking out at a pearl jam show,

DONT EVER SIT ON THE BALCONY!!

Man, I was in senior citizen section or something...tonight we had a freakin awesome setlist but it was kinda killed for me cause I was the ONLY ONE ROCKING THE F OUT. If you were in the balcony (upper part, not lower...you guys owned) on Stone's side, I hate you and I hope you spill beer all over yourselves on Tuesday. The reason I was on the balcony instead of the floor is cause I got non-10c seats for Sunday so I could kick it with more than one friend. My two buddies didn't really know any pj, but they were still rocking out way more than anyone else. Seriously, quit smoking/making out/sitting/looking depressed at a pearl jam show!!

Anyways, tonight's setlist owned, better than last night's, although I had more fun last night cause I was right on the rail. Oh speaking of that, you guys know where Ed was singing Last Kiss tonight, right in the middle? That's RIGHT WHERE I WAS LAST NIGHT!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! OFF BY ONE NIGHT!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH

But yeah, tonight they dropped the leash, as well as freaking blood, man! Ed was screaming like a dang psycho. Marker in the Sand sounded DOPE, as did ComeBack...easily my 2 favourite tracks off avacado.

Oh and man, the Sometimes botch was HILARIOUS. Eddie forgot the words and the NEXT CHORD, where "seek my part..." goes. He just stopped, and said "I forgot the f***ing song!" Everyone cracked up, including my two buddies whose first ever live PJ song was an epic EV screw up. AWESOME!

Severed Hand into Whipping = OWNED

Matt's Evenflow drum solo...jesus mary and joseph, sick. That man has some serious skills, he works the toms and keeps the band in CHECK.

Heard Lukin live finally, so I can die whenever now.

Great show, can't wait till tuesday. I'll be there nice and early so I can get up on the rail, never again to waste my night in the balcony ever again.

PS: Hey I met some cool people, one is named Dre (spelled wrong I think), and her boyfriend who looks just like the Lord of the Rings guy. If you're reading this, what the heck is up, see you Tuesday hopefully! (I'm the dude who was on the rail on Saturday's show getting molested by your crazy texas friends)

not ALL the balcony sucked.....our section was all standing, screaming and singing.......anyway, that's the way to end a birthday.........now it's done......tonite was awesome......Tuesdays show will no doubt give us some more surprises and I feel VERY lucky to be able to catch ALL 3 shows.....

thanks to danabt for the incredible gift of my tickets to 2 of the 3 shows!.....

    long live Pearl Jam.....
  • Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, these guys are AMAZING! WOW! 3 words for you, IN MY TREE.

The last time I was this close for a show was way back I think in 1996 @ Arco, and I feel blessed to have been right behind the great fans who hug the rail the last 2 nights.

They played the entire new album over the last 2 nights!!

Eddie spoke about doing an on camera interview w/ Stone. He didnt go into too much detail, but did say it was about enviornmental issues.

The crowd in the pit was a little more calm tonight. Which was nice.

There is a center section that extends out into the very middle of the pit about 15 feet or so, about 4 feet wide that security does there business. I didn't see how Ed snuck out there for encore 2 (I was on Mike's side) but he sung Last Kiss there.

Great group of fans I was around today.

    IN MY TREE

The guys are really great to the fans. Really seem to be enjoying themselves. Mike must have thrown out like 25 guitar picks.

Being like, 10 feet from these guys is just crazy. Just insane. I really can't believe it. The skill level is amazing. Just seeing the little things. The interaction between the band, is really cool. Really cool to see everything up close.

    I can't wait for Tuesday!!!!!

Sunday night at the Graham was absolutely, unequivocally sick. A definite boot for my collection. The playlist stretch from Insignificance thru RVM, despite the absence of any of my favorite songs in it, may have been the most incredible straighaway run of songs I've ever heard them play. All of the avocado album tunes were solid, too. Leash (my first) was off the charts. The chemistry up there was smooth and the fellas were amped.

And Veddernarian, the dynamite rendition of In My Tree was indeed an Emerson, Lake & Palmer version but with less emphasis on Matt's percussion than the version in Live At The Garden '03.

Eddie did actually start singing 'Somtimes' before he flopped, going silent and noticeably trying his darndest to find the lyrics from deep within before abandoning the song all together with a laugh. He was hilarious when he apologized later on. Other than that, for the 1st set, Eddie seemed like he had possibly been in Sonoma/Napa all day and ignored the spit jars if you know what I mean. His voice was hoarse and raspy for the first few songs and he just seemed exhausted. He was also chain smoking and I even noticed him sort of trip on the top of the stairs on his way back onstage for Set 2. He miraculoulsy got super psyched towards the end of Set 1 until the end of the night . . . maybe attributed to the fine Napa Cabernet he was pounding. Don't mean to knock Eddie as much as pay tribute to his resilience. The dude is remarkable and loved being up there with the Avengers. He also came over to Mike's side and sat indian style on the furthermost left tower amp and just smiled at everyone before bowing in deference to all of his adoring fans. God bless Edward.

I took advantage of the opportunity to watch from the McCready (left) side this time since my tickets almost always find their way to the Stone side or in the back. I was lucky enough to rock a cozy spot about 20 ft from Mike soon after the early 10C admission. For those of you going Tues, I actually got in at 6:30, bought a poster, purchased a tasty pizza and Heineken and still managed to secure this unforgettable spot up close. Crowd was very diverse, balanced, chill and pumped with the exception of 1 wasted roid-raged sh!thead who pushed through and was looking for a fight. Thankfully, he voluntarily barrelled his way back to the dark, stinky outskirts from where he originated. I helped block him from running over these 2 lovely girls and it apparently earned me some points. I'm a sucker for adorable 10C girls. Yeahhh.

Mike was electric and it was truly a joy to watch he and Jeff so close. Mike ran around, occasionally in circles, and interacted with the crowd constantly. Jeff can jump really well. Only thing better than standing right under their noses was meeting them both afterward! Right after the show, I hung out in the back of the Graham with about 50 other dedicated and perhaps psychotic fans to greet the suspected passengers of 4 black 'Virgin Limo' minibuses that were parked there. Sure enough, Matt came out with an entourage of PJ tour staff girls but set aside a very brief period of time to say hi to our huddled group on the barricade and signed a few tickets. Jeff emerged soon after and hung out for what seemed like forever. He signed crap, including my ticket, and talked to EVERYONE waiting there and even talked some Redsox baseball. Mike appeared next with a classic "Well what do ya know, it's the great Jeff Ayyyyy-ment over here!" He too signed everyone's stuff, including my very popular ticket, and rapped with everyone on the railing. They were all class acts and I felt so fortunate to support a band that appreciates and respects its fans as much as its fans dig them. Great PJ experience.

I got a feelin' in my bones that they'll bust out Release, LBC, Lowlight, Down, Baba on Tues night and I can't wait to be there, jaw dropped, when they do.

Big shout outs to my boy Oz from San Jose, whom I provided a ticket, excitable Adam from Denver, his pal Dave from NY/LA and the two gorgeous girls in front of me who I took pictures for with their disposable kodak . . . you all rock!!

BTW, Sonic Youth was en fuego. Just spectacular. Tuesday nighters, make sure you're there in time to see them.

The front row was awesome on Mike's side Sat. night. Of course you had the asshole bum rushers, but overall it was awesome. Tight and sweaty, but awesome. Tonight, right between Eddie and Stone. I have a new appreciation for the word COMPRESSION! Physics in college didn't teach me shit compared to what I learned tonight. Stone's side was NUTS! My body is paying for it right now. But by far, one of the top nights of my life. The setlist was so great. The band is so cohesive. You just see that they too are loving it. 1 more show to go and I'm so sad to see Leg 2 over with. I bought extra Kleenex for the Gorge.

  • Sounds like two sick set lists from San Fran so far, 2nd night def gets the edge.

I'm coming in from NYC for tomorrow nights show, what is the venue like? I'm hoping for a full length feel of a larger Irving Plaza, sounds like it has been crazy, I can't wait!

    What’s a Fanview?

A FanView is an exclusive Message Pit thread for fans that attend a concert and want to share their experience with fans that could not.

Does a FanView need to be certain length?

No, your FanView can be one word “AWESOME,” a few lines or a short story.

What if I’m not a great speller or the best at grammar?

Don’t worry about this, do the best you can.

I have a couple incredibly interesting comments on the show -- but I wasn’t there -- should I go ahead and post them here anyway?

No, this thread is reserved for the lucky fans that attend the concert.

I need to ask a question about the concert -- but I wasn’t there -- Should I ask it here?

No, I’m trying for pure Fanviews from the fans who were there.

A FanView can include but is not limited to such things as your description of Pearl Jams set, the opening bands set, what it took or how you got to the show, how was the pre-party, what did you do after the show, how did you feel?
