Indie guys like Sun Kil Moon get tons of cred for writing "direct" songs with straightforward lyrics. Neil does it now and he's out of ideas? I'll agree sometimes it's distracting, but I'm not sure it's fair to say he's out of ideas. Psychedelic Pill was a great album and that was a few years ago. Storytone has its moments.

Yeah, sure! Neil could not do anything to change my opinion of him at this point. He can crank out ridiculous albums that he just blurted out and tossed together every month for the rest of his life just for shits and giggles, and i really wouldn't care, lol. He's the man.

Show just going out (it's after midnight here in Lincoln). If you are on the fence about seeing him in this tour, get a ticket. I've seen a lot of live music in my day, so it's tough to pick a favorite. Suffice it to say, this show is in the discussion. Yes, that good.

Promise of the Real, awful name aside, is a solid backing band. Seeing neil's songs with some consistent tempo is really special. We saw Neil with Crazy Horse last year (363 days ago, to be exact) and the difference in the band's was remarkable. Not that one was better than the other overall, but different. Tonight's show was like an amped up, loud, Live Rust Neil. Loud, fast, angry. Even the worst off the new album sounded great.

Do not miss this tour...

Longest show in Pinnacle Bank Arena's admittedly short history.

Can't say enough about last night. So much energy. If you've ever wondered if an aging mediocre band (RIP Rick) like Crazy Horse might be slowing a guy like Neil down a bit (I have), last night provided strong support for the affirmative. Crazy Horse has its place in Neil Young lore, but there is now something to be said for Neil with a younger, arguably tighter backing band. I have no idea if PotR can hold their own without Neil, but they certainly injected some octane into his songs. I'll go out on a limb as say that Down By The River and Love and Only Love were as hard as anything PJ has done live in recent years.

Such a good show...

I almost ended up skipping work to drive to Cincinnati tonight.
I think if I would have checked this thread sooner, I probably would've.

So pumped for tonight! Who else will be there?

My cousin, who is on business from Israel, will be with us, and it's his first Neil show, so that will be super exciting! I love going to shows with him when he's here, as not too many artists (sadly) play there. Brought him to PJ Brooklyn 2 in 2013, and we saw Springsteen in VA last year, so we do pretty pretty well when it comes to shows together

We have lawn tickets, so hoping the weather gets better
