Really? Leaving your wife for a washed up actor? Really?

:-/ Whoa, that is quite the assumption. Who says that's what happened?? There is no reason whatsoever to think they got divorced because he started dating Daryl Hannah. He probably started dating her because their marriage was already over, and they simply didn't announce it until now. Divorces don't just happen suddenly. Chances are they've had probs for years.

And washed up actor? Really? What does her acting career have to do with it?

If you don't know the facts of what happened, allow them their privacy. It shocks me - and no doubt Neil - to know how many fans give a flying fuck about something the have little info about.

Artwork and track listing for Storytone:

    image

    1."Plastic Flowers"
    2."Who's Gonna Stand Up"
3."I Want to Drive My Car"
    4."Glimmer"
    5."Say Hello to Chicago"
    6."Tumbleweed"
    7."Like You Used to Do"
    8."I'm Glad I Found You"
    9."When I Watch You Sleeping"
    10."All Those Dreams"

    According to Rolling Stone:
Storeytone will be released in two versions, one recorded solo, and the other gilded with orchestral and big-band arrangements, all recorded live with no overdubs, and Young singing in the same room as the musicians, Sinatra-style. ''It's the most different thing that I've ever attempted,'' says Young – which is really saying something for a guy who was sued by his own label in the Eighties for making ''unrepresentative'' music.

The orchestral Storeytone is the first Young album where he plays no guitar or piano – he let other musicians take on instrumental duties so he could focus on his vocals. Two music-industry vets, Michael Bearden and Chris Walden, conducted, arranged and co-produced the album. ''He took himself out of his comfort zone,'' says Bearden, who worked with Michael Jackson and is currently Lady Gaga's musical director. Young gave the arrangers considerable freedom: ''He basically told us to do what we felt,'' says Bearden. Young had originally planned to take the concept even further, recording the orchestral versions with a single microphone, but he relented on that point.

It was a couple of weeks ago. maybe even before Stefan started advocating, but I am sure Uncle Neil would smash old Black upside his head if he started his Pappnasing.

OK, I know it's likely some of you will say about this article, "So what? Why should we be concerned with someone's private life even if they are a big name in the public." I would have to agree with that. But I post this here more out of feeling kind of bummed that this issue has apparently created a major rift in CSNY and that they may never perform together again.

I saw CSNY at Winterland in 1969 or '70. (This was the show where my friends told me they thought it amusing that before the show I was standing on the street corner next to Neil and both of us were staring dejectedly at the ground and I didn't even notice he was there.) They had just been through an emotional time that caused the show to be postponed due to the death of a loved of one in the group ( I think this was when Crosby's girlfriend Christine Hinton was killed in a car wreck). When these guys played Neil's "Down By the River" they pulled it off with such intensity that at the end of the number there were four guys four guitars tangled up in a group hug that brought the entire place to tears. Fucking unbelievable. And now- possibly to never perform together again. Very sad. :-(

    Wow- sad about CSNY.
A friend told me about the Sugar Mountain website with this cool feature in which you can select the shows you attended and it will give you all kinds of statistics about what songs you heard the most, how many unique songs etc. I figure the people on this thread know what I'm talking about. Is there a similar site that does this for Pearl Jam?

    Thanks,
    Charles

I'm not sure what you guys mean by "bad". I'm 63 so I grew up thinking "bad" meant "bad". Then another generation came along and "bad" was "good". Is "bad" "bad" again? Anyway, I like the clip and song, Colberts quip "Neil Young and Crazy Host" cracked me up, Colberts little one not Neilish solo was awesome and I'm happy to see a guy like Neil, 5 years older than me, still out their doing it.

    Long May You Run, Neil!

The lyrics are embarrassing and way too straightforward. The hook is lame, it's just not a good song. It's sounds even corniest with the orchestra.

Because this is a PJ board, Infallible is a much better song about our responsibility to stand up for the environment.

For a NY comparison, Be The Rain was a much better song that is about saving the environment.

Well, Neil started smoking weed again... so maybe he needs to ease back into writing songs while stoned. I heard this one at Farm Aid and wasn't big on it. Much preferred the anti-fracking line he adlibbed in RITFW.

And to clarify...I'm not saying "The Shit". Just shit.

Yeah, I can't argue with that. I just figure at 68, any thing Neil puts out is good because the day he puts out nothing he will no longer be walking among the living. My favorite NY environmental related song is "A Natural Beauty" from Harvest Moon followed by "Mother Earth (Natural Anthem)" from Ragged Glory.

WOW! Check this out! How cool for Neil!

Over the past year, Neil Young has played a number of different roles: science-fiction writer, painter, tech entrepreneur and, of course, musician. Relaxing in one of his tour buses before a show in Philadelphia, Mr. Young, 68, says that lately he is seeing the world differently.

He means it literally: A friend gave the colorblind Mr. Young a new pair of sunglasses that allows him to see red and green. “Things jump out that didn’t jump out before,” he says excitedly. “I’ll be driving along the highway looking out, and I’ll see a green lawn, and I’ll say, ‘Wow!’ ”

I finally got a chance to listen to Howard Stern's interview of NY. Unfortunately, I'm not impressed at all with The King Of Media's work here. He proclaims to be a huge Neil fan, but he was misinformed on several items that a real fan would know and did not get into anything too deep. Plus he made the same Crosby joke five times and made a half assed reference about Pegi/Daryl that went nowhere. Too bad- I thought that had the makings of a classic...
