Which concerts have you gone this year?
and
What was the best?? or ¿Which did you enjoy more?
My answers....
Roger Waters - The Wall Live (the best concert of my life)
Foo Fighters - Lollapalooza Chile
Steven Wilson - Grace for Drowning (exceeded widely my expectations)

Only 3 so far this year (so far being the key word--I think I'm going to about 12 shows this summer!):
Guns N Roses- MD
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band- DC
Rodrigo y Gabriela with C.U.B.A.- DC
Springsteen's the winner by a country mile, though I really did enjoy all the other shows.
But there's just something about a Springsteen show...was my first and I was absolutely knocked out by how incredible the whole experience of being there was. That show was just the epitome of why I love music so much!"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

My favorite(s) so far in 2012 are Guns N' Roses. I saw GNR twice in March on their small venue tour. Awesome stuff. Axl sounded great and his band is really good. Obviously not the original lineup that too many people obsess over, but you wouldn't know it just by listening to them play.
I've also seen Springsteen. It was my first Bruce concert, but to be honest, I wasn't that impressed. I thought it was a little on the boring side. It was a good show, but nothing unique or 'special' as so many people tend to say about his concerts. Maybe that's because I'm not a huge Springsteen fan, but at least I can now say that I've been to one of his shows.
Coming up, over the next few months, I have Roger Waters performing 'The Wall' in Atlanta at Philips Arena, Iron Maiden with Alice Cooper in Charlotte (I'm pretty stoked about this show. The Mighty Maiden!!!), Van Halen twice (New Orleans and Birmingham, AL), Aerosmith in Atlanta, and Merle Haggard in Aspen, CO.United Center (Chicago): 8/24/09
Gibson Amphitheatre (Los Angeles): 10/7/090 -
of montreal at the union transfer in philadelphia april 2nd.
it will be a hard one to top.0 -
We've only been to one concert so far this year, but it was great. The wife and I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers last week and they put on an excellent show. They played most of the hits as well as a couple covers and a few deeper album tracks. I've always wanted to see them and they certainly didn't disappoint. I'd definitely recommend seeing them if you get a chance. Here's the setlist:
Listen to Her Heart
You Wreck Me
I Won't Back Down
Here Comes My Girl
Handle with Care (Traveling Wilburys cover)
Lover's Touch
I'm a Man (The Yardbirds cover)
Something Big
Saving Grace
Free Fallin'
Spike
It's Good To Be King
Time To Move On
Learning to Fly
Yer So Bad
I Should Have Known It
Good Enough
Refugee
Runnin' Down a Dream
Encore:
Mary Jane's Last Dance
American Girl

We've got tickets to see Chris Cornell next week then we're heading to Bonnaroo next month. We also have tickets to see Eddie Vedder in Fort Lauderdale in November (rescheduled from this weekend).I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.0 -
Gordon Lightfoot
Drive-by Truckers x2
The DBT show the night before Easter Sunday was simply epic....easily the second best DBT show that I have seen.....the Friday night show was not far behind. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0 -
I've seen a number of shows this year, and I gottta second the Drive-By Truckers. They seemed re-energized and ready to rock this last swing. Wilco was right up there too.
Flight to Mars and Gillian Welch are coming up, those should both be contenders."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

So far this year, I've seen Wilco, Mark Lanegan Band, Cake, Sleigh Bells x2, Dead Sara, little hurricane, Cloud Nothings, Guns 'N Roses, The Joy Formidable, Of Monsters and Men, The Stone Foxes, The Beach Boys, been to Coachella (my top sets were Gary Clark Jr., Other Lives, Pulp, The Black Keys, The Head and the Heart, The Shins, Radiohead, The Hives, and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg), Deer Tick, and Jack White.
Jack White has probably been my from that list, with Radiohead, Wilco, The Joy Formidable, and The Hives rounding out the top 5.
Oof. How can I forget the Boss? Totally slipped my mind about Springsteen and I don't know how because he was incredible and tops the list. Springsteen, Jack White, and then the rest.Post edited by kasedoug on0 -
The Wall was cool. Jeff Mangum is right up there. One of my 5 EV shows will probably win out. This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0
