John F vs. Mike M.? come on...

Frusciante concedes defeat to no one. Sorry Mike, but the Frus is in a musical class of his own.

And more on topic, when it comes to "wow, what a bass player!" factor, Flea also wins. Hands down.

I have to agree with you on both points.

Have you seen Matt Freeman showcasing the new Fender Bassman Tube Amps on Fender.com. ? Great player even though I'm not very up on his band and great amps, nothings better than a classic sounding Bassman in my opinion, I've just ordered mine from fender!!! :)

Yes I have, great amps, great sound.

Flea by a landslide. Also, I think both Ament and Gossard can be swapped out with just about anybody and it wouldn't make a difference. THey are just average where Mccready, Vedder and Cameron are what make PJ special, IMO.

Have to agree... Bottom line is they are my fave band and have an amazing body of work but stone and Jeff aren't breaking new ground or doing much interesting anymore... It feels like conservative rock sounds for couples to listen to over dinner....

Agree but aside from mike to a moderate degree, the boys haven't given Eddie much for fire power in a while.... Least be clear, vender is the best front man in rock but he hasn't been backed with inspiring riffs and expansive anthems for a while,,,, I enjoyed his uke album more than backspacer and riot act...

Although Flea is probably more "Skilled" he bass sound can become VERY boring after 3 or 4 Chili Pepper's songs. It's just the same funk thing over and over. Jeff has more styles. Plus he can write some really fantastic tunes!

Stone has a much bigger part in the PJ sound than Mike, and a much more unique sound. Listen to the early albums and MLB and it's different style, but a similar guitar voice in alot of it. I'm not sure Mike's every been the creative guitar force that Stone or EV has.

I sorta agree and disagree about Cameron. All their drummers have a had a pretty profound impact on their sound, but I think Dave A and Jack have a little more personality to their drumming.

Flea vs Ament? Prolly give the edge to Flea b/c it seems like a he's been one of the most influential players ever. I think he does alot more than the over the top funk thing well too.

McCready v. Froosh? Frusciante................Creatively Frusciante just blows him out of the water. Technically as far as mechanics Mike crushes, but from the music side I think Froosh tops him.

I've always like that last name: Frusciante. It could be like a football name.

    "Frusciante back to pass....."

    Or a wrestler's name

"Frusciante up to the top rope"

    Or a golfer

"Frusciante looking for a birdie to keep pace"

    Or whatever...

Big Lebowski, Back To The Future 2 & 3, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas....Flea has been in three of my favorite movies.

Unfortunately he's never played on any of my favorite albums.

And don't forget his role as shotgun to Anthony Kiedis on the movie I guess it was entitled The Chase, starred by Charlie Sheen... that was out of this world...

I dont think they boys get enough credit (aside from Ed) for their contribution IMO. Theres a fixation with Ed (dont get me wrong I LOVE ED). Many of the greatest PJ songs would not exist without the boys.

No Eddie and this band is 20 years into reminiscing about their days as a glam band with mother love bone.....not defining a decade and becoming one of the most timeless and influential bands ever.....Eddie is probably the most underrated member of this band....

There isn't a thing Jeff can do with a bass that Flea can't do and do better. As far as ability goes it's not even close. Songwriting is a different argument. But playing ability, not even close.
