    Local dive bar, yes
Sports bar where hot chicks are gonna be, no. You always need a iceman or need to be iceman

And I will go to restaurants by myself.

So I'm either a late-in-life extrovert, or an incredibly pathetic loser.

    :? :|

    I'm still incredibly shy, BUT

I've gone to the movies by myself...

    and restaurants...

and I've gone to the bar by myself...the bartenders and bouncers all talked to me...and they actually looked out for me as well.

did ask to play pool and darts with a few guys, never got hit on, or went home with anybody...

so I assume I was the pathetic loser. :P

I know it's not the same, but my friends left the bar a while ago and I'm not ready to leave so I'm having another pint alone. You ate definitely not the only one to go solo and post here.

I did it all the time. I moved around alot and I would go to the bar to grab a few drinks and mingle with who ever was around just to try and meet new people. So I have no problem going to the bar myself.
I don't think there is anything wrong with it, just have to be willing to talk with people or it will be a very boring evening

Going to the bar by yourself rocks. I alwasy end up in a conversation with the people next to me and have made friends that way. Plus the bartender ends up talking to you and you get to know them and often can get hooked up if you continue to come up there.

I have no problem going to a bar, or anywhere else for that matter, alone. In fact, the wife is out of town so I plan to head out to my local craft beer bar tonight to watch my Tar Heels play. I probably stop by there alone every week or so. No big deal to me.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

There's a bar I go to after work a couple times during the week by myself.
After a while, you start to get to know the other 'regulars' and join in on conversations with them!
Sometimes the bartenders will start chatting it up too.
It might be awkward at first but you get used to it!
AND they learn your order quick so you get a beer brought to you as soon as you come in!

This is incredibly true! I don't even have to say anything, as soon as I come in, I have a drink ready for me :D

Walked into a bar alone, but only if I'm meeting someone in there.

It prob sounds silly, but going for a coffee on my own is a bit of a treat, sitiing readin and maybe having a piece of cake.

    all the time
2 little ones and a wife at home, sometimes I just like a quick pop or two before I enter the madness that is my house @ 6-8pm
  • not recently, but done that for a long while, and it doesn't mean I found someone... sometimes I go to spend time before doing something else, sometimes I go because I have no choice, sometimes I feel like going... I enjoy my being alone, but not always... and of course the mind always rambles... I see your point, I completely understand...

I'm Sitting here, and yes, feel very pathetic.

Anyone else ever go it alone at the bar?

Being female... I'm too scared. :)

But somehow I can picture you sitting there with pen in hand. ;)

One can meet some very interesting people when going solo at the bar. Like someone else said, I think it depends on the location, and the day and time. Some of the best times I have had have been going solo somewhere.

I love doing this from time to time.... Its interesting who you meet sometimes!
The thing I like most about time is that it's not real. It's all in the head. Sure, it's a useful trick to use if you want to meet someone at a specific place in the universe and have tea or coffee- but that's all it is- a trick. There is no such thing as the past. It exists only in the memory. There is no such thing as the future. It exists only in our imagination. If our watches were truly accurate, the only thing they would ever say is "Now". I've gone to a bar by myself. Its actually quite relaxing. Have my beer or glass of wine and play Words With Friends. I love going to movies alone too. Why go with someone if you can't talk with them? Unless you go to dinner/drinks before or after.

I figured out why I have/had a problem with flying solo at the bar.

My dad owned a bar most of my life, and i just remember the same people Sitting at his bar every night. They had no place else to go. I remember feeling sorry for them even when I was young. Thy Sat there and drank their lives away. I guess I just associate it with that, and i guess it just makes me sad because, everyone should have some place to go, and someone to go to.
    Peace, Love.

I was a bartender back in the day, so I can't totally relate to this... I felt sad for some of them too.

Hmmm I wonder if they feel bad for me when I do it :?
