It's as if they were trying to one-up eachother.

On Monday, my mom was seeing her doctor, who noticed that her heart rate was very high. The doctor sent her to the ER, and it turns out she had a mild heart attack. She is having an angiogram/plasty later today. This is the first time I've ever seen my mom in the hospital. Based on what my family went through with my dad's illness/death last year, it is way too soon for my mom, brother and sister to have to deal with this!

Minutes after my mom called me, my wife called to tell me her mom had fallen, and was taken by ambulance to her local ER. She broke a bone in her arm, and she is still in the hospital in San Diego.

It sucks being a grown-up sometimes!
    Not a good day!!!!

Hope they are both doing better.

    Update:

After lots of deliberation, they will be doing bypass surgery on my mom this coming tuesday.

She is very small and frail, so they ran a zillion tests to make sure she could withstand the procedure/recovery. The plan kept changing all week long. As of yesterday afternoon, they were scheduled to do the surgery last night, but they were running behind, and the doctors wanted to have a final pow-wow before the decision. The option of forgoing the surgery was presented, and that would have meant my mon would just be treated with medicine. That was a bit of a relief, but the thought of her living her life in constant danger of a heart attack was very unsettling.

And, oh yeah, my mother-in-law is back home, wearing an arm/shoulder brace for a few months. :?

    thanks!

There is a 15% mortality rate applicable to these procedures. That is very heavy to ponder.

That is heavy indeed, but best to focus on the 85% :) hope both moms are hanging in there, and you and your family as well!

thanks for the lovely thoughts. They are now carting her off to the ER. One of the waiting rooms has a fella playing piano.....very serene vibe!

I have my ipad, headphones and Netflix on the wifi, and it just so happens they have PJ20 available!

I asked if they could put me on morphine to make the waiting easier, but they refused!
