The day of the st pattys day parade in Chicago is one of my favorite days of the year. The fact that it actually falls on a Saturday this year makes it even better. Saturday is going to be a mess.

Starting it at 8am...we may have to do an over/under on how long you last Saturday!

I think last year I made it until about 11 pm. Pretty solid performance. The key is to go back to someone's place during the day and then go back out at night. Supposed to be nice out Saturday so I think we are going to hang on my buddys rooftop in Bucktown after the morning session at the bar.

That is quite impressive!!
I wanted to go to the Southside parade last weekend...always had a blast at that one...but I heard that it was going to be crack-down city so we didn't even bother. I wonder how it went!

Someone is supposed to go to the cupcake store to get me cupcakes...
Irish Cake Bomb:
This boozy cupcake will have you Riverdancing by the time you get to the last bite! We've added Elliott Bay's organic No Doubt Stout to our moist chocolate cake and filled it with a bomb of Jameson Whiskey-infused buttercream frosting. Then we covered it with a whipped Irish Cream frosting, dusted with gold and sprinkled with shamrocks. Nothing says "Get Lucky" like our new Irish Cake Bomb Cupcake!
Whiskey Maple Bacon:
Irish eyes will be smiling all around the Emerald City for our Whiskey Maple Bacon Cupcake!
Moist vanilla butter cake, hand-frosted with Irish Whiskey Maple Buttercream. Made with Jameson Irish Whiskey and real maple syrup, this malted maple swirl truly takes the edge off…a sweet tooth, that is. Dusted with or without bacon crumbles from Zoe's Meats, it's true to its Irish heritage down to the tiniest tasty detail.
I want my damn cupcakes!
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
Staying off the road and the city , bunch of drunks all over sort of like PJ20 :P
I miss marching on 5th ave . Started going to the parade in the 70's & marched almost 20 times there .
I have seen my share of drunks through the years thats for sure.
It is good to stay offs the streets :ugeek:
So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
What You Giving
I suggest you step out on your Porch.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh, See the World!
I'm having a bad Friday already (it's only 8:20 a.m.), and the only thing getting me through this is knowing tomorrow's going to be a day filled with my favourite Irish beers & whiskeys.
"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
There's a huge parade and craziness not far from here but it's more than this old fella cares to deal with nowadays. I will be procuring a big ol bag of crawfish, boiling them bastards and drinking beer at the house with a few friends
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
Usually I go and see a Flogging Molly show around St. Patty's Day, but they're not going to be in the area this weekend, so I guess I'll just sit at home with some Shamrock Shakes.

It's Paddy, not Patty. Ever.
Saint Patrick's Day? Grand.
Paddy's Day? Sure, dead-on.
St. Pat's? Aye, if ye must.
St. Patty? No, ye goat!

I was waiting for someone to post this
It's not something we really celebrate here ... although Guinness have started to promote it here over the last few years.
Glad I could help

Another thing, its "Guinness", with 2 n's in the middle. No more "Pattys day" and no more "Guiness" on this thread or we will kneecap ya.

Apologies for the typo :P
Was thinking exactly the same thing
