I love this! With time things become "RARE" and therefore those who've possessed such items somehow feel they've contributed something to justify these astronomical prices. I can appreciate financial woes and understand market values but this doesn't give you the right to reap profit from other peoples art. You want these items to find a deserving home then offer them up for what you paid. This isn't ebay and unless this is for charity it's not cool.

what if he paid those prices years ago for those items.
& if he was the 1st person to own that (apparently Original) Soldier Field he would've gotten it free in the Radio Station give-away...so, should he just give that to somebody for free?

(if thats the case I'll gladly relieve him of that hideously green/non-sought after LP)... ;)

The reason this part of the board is here is to sell items away from ebay... it doesnt mean you have to give them away or sell for half their value.

Those items are rare and they are worth more because as time passes there are fewer and fewer out there. It's not like he's on here trying to get $600 for a backpack... these are mostly pretty old items that have been around a long time now.

And as pjradio said - we don't even know what prices were paid for them. The Vs promo has been $150+ for the last 10 years... the Soldie Field (not the bootlegged versions out there) has been $300 since shortly after it came out. Those have further appreciated in recent years.

Bottom line -- there are a lot of people looking for these items... you don't have to buy them but cluttering threads up about how collectibles cost too much is a waste of time. The prices are reasonable and the items are really hard to find -- there's not much more to say than that.

I guess some people who complain on these boards are just bitter they didn't have these items when they first came out so they could sell them years down the road for profit. I'm not sure why there is always so much complaining bc someone can't afford something.

I can afford some things... And I can't afford others... And I'm ok with that. I'm not going to rip someone for selling something. Who cares if he asks $1000 for it? I will look at the post, realize I can't afford it, and move on.

I want to see the OP get what he is asking for and not have to deal with bitter people on the boards. Good luck!

Wow! I have my own vast collection and have given away several things of my own on this forum. Obviously this forum is for FAIR sell and trade practices from fan to fan and I stress the FAIR. I apologize if I think $400 plus dollars for an album is a little steep! But good for all of you. And I'm not ripping a person just the practice. The ticket thing hasn't gotten out of control or anything. People aren't sabotaging ticket presales, right? So with the attitude that $400 plus is reasonable the new album should easily fetch $100 plus. Hell that'll be a bargain!

Hey there. When you come into posession of an original Soldier Field LP and then decide to unload it, please contact me first with a handsome discount in place.

And you have no idea what he paid for it. Just like him buying a house, no one is giving the house to him for what they paid. He's paying the current market value.

I have a degree in writing, yet even I understand these things to be freemarket economics.

And that new album you speak of? Press the sucker on white vinyl, and you'll easily find it gets $150. And this is for an album on colored vinyl, which is inferior in sound reproduction. If the kitchen's too hot, there's always room at the chicken bbq.

Collecting Pearl Jam is frustrating and expensive. I'll give you my favorite example (and its a true story).

I collected PJ stuff like crazy in the mid 90s. I had at one time THREE Reeenk Roinks... THREE. I had to sell them to help a family member who was too stupid to properly do his student loans, and I got about $500/each for them.

Now years later when people sell Reeenks they are $2,000-$3,000 each. So that's 4-6 times what I sold mine for. Yet if I were to tell them they should sell for $500 they'd laugh at me. Is it fair I am going to pay 5 times what I sold mine for to replace just one of them? Not to me, but I made my choice back then and have to pay for it now.

Bottom line... it is what it is. When something is in demand it will increase in value. And if you don't get in on the ground floor you'll probably pay a lot more down the road.

There were only 550 legitimate soldier field sets pressed and probably less than 25 of the Ten test pressing so yes I would qualify these as "rare". I would also guess that there are less than 500 "5 tracks from the new album" pressed as they are near impossible to find but in the end we will never know.

If any mods feel as though my post is offensive then I will take it down. I have not yet received payment for anything so if any mods let me know that this is against the board rules then I will not sell to board members and will find another forum to sell.

I am sorry to offend, and thanks for all your PMs.

If that is fair market value than I'm wrong and I apologize. Hope you make a million off other peoples work.

Welcome to the Pearl Jam Message Pit's trading forum. Please remember that the spirit of the policy here is meant to keep the trading activities on a fan-to-fan and personal basis, not to create a side business.

You can trade and set a reasonable price here for Pearl Jam memorabilia as long as the item is not available elsewhere on the site.

No flipping* posters, or selling illegal items such as illegal bootlegs from bootleggers, homemade CDs and DVDs, items purchased marked "not for resale", etc.

No auctions are allowed. Links to yours or others' eBay auctions or stores are not ok.

No selling of alcoholic beverages is allowed. That includes Faithfull Ale. There are laws and license requirements for that item and we're not equipped to handle it here in the forums.

Please see the Posting Guidelines and Ten Club rules to be sure you are in compliance with all site rules/legalities.

    * Flipping is buying items (from Ten Club or merch booth, etc.) with the intent to resell for a profit.

the Legit Soldier Field was an LP SANCTIONED by the band to be given away at St. Louis FM Station 105.7 KPNT “The Point”.
They were given away in October of '96 (16 yrs ago)...No Illegal Bootleg here.

Cut to 17yrs later...these are HIGHLY coveted now, as I'm sure that the band knew they would be or they wouldn't have signed off on them to begin with...the price for these are now in the $100's...if the Band doesn't have a problem, why should you? You earlier referred to this (rightly so) as ART. So, using that, if somehow down the line in your family, you found out you had an original print given to your family by Picasso, which has now found its way to you...for whatever reason you need to get rid of it....are you gonna just give it to somebody for free because they like paintings by Picasso? Or are you going to sell it at what the market says its worth?

I'm keeping these items, it seems that its only acceptable on "Lost Dogs" if I sell for the lowest price that these ever sold for ever. Sorry again for wasting everyone's time.

What are you, 12? Grow up. Sell your items. Jesus. You can't even have a different opinion anymore. Clearly I should have voiced my opinion on this issue in a separate thread and for that I truly apologize but to resort to your behavior is childish. If that's the fair value and clearly there are people ready to belly up then good on you.
