There's a difference between telling someone to take a walk if they can't take the stress from a large contingent of voices telling them to back off the issue, and that of inviting someone to a fisticuffs. I don't even know the OP, but he certainly didn't deserve a roasting. Nor do you. But you have to make a decision to walk away from the issue you've welcomed here tonight.

I hope you are happy now that you have prevented the OP from selling his items. I'm not quite sure what you were trying to accomplish by even posting. This doesn't concern you at all and while it is your opinion that you are entitled to....it just makes you come off whiny, sorry.

And you are talking about all of the "bashing" going on here? Well I think your post was made to bring attention to yourself and start something out of nothing. So when you make a comment like that just deal with the responses people may have.

I hate to ramble but it just really irks me seeing something so childish going on here. If you didn't make a useless post then the OP could have sold some really cool items to some folks who would really enjoy it. Hope that makes you happy. :P

It sucks the OP doesnt want to list the items anymore. This forum is here to help people avoid having to go to ebay both for buying and selling, and to a certain extent its pretty well self-policed. If someone is charging way too much, it won't sell and I'm fairly certain someone will say "its a big overpriced." If its not overpriced it sells and everyone is happy.

Collectibles are going to have varying values and many will increase over time. Pearl Jam has fed into this immensely with posters, limited vinyl, CD singles, etc over the last 20 years. I'm not saying they WANTED this, but by creating demand for these items of course its going to create a market for it with prices that are going to vary from low to insane.

I hope the OP reconsiders since it appeared there was interest in a few of the items that I know some people were looking for. If the standard is that we can't sell above the original value (which is impossible based on the fact that a lot of these are promos), there won't be a need for a Lost Dogs forum.

    @ homegrown

You're not the seller, or potential buyer by the sound of it, so while your 2cents might be important to you, it does nothing here besides derail a perfectly acceptable thread for both the OP, and fans and members who may have had a chance to get what they want, for a price they are willing to pay.

If I understand your point of view correctly, then please contact me when you decide to sell your Benaroya Hall vinyl boxed set for the original $45.00 issue price, as I am currently looking to shell out the thick end of $1000.00 for one. I'll even buy you a beer as a thank you! Or would that be viewed as excessive profit........?

Being constructive, rather than destructive, is always more gratifying.
I'll keep takin' punches until their will grows tired... Hey I won't change direction and I won't change my mind.......

What Aussie said. You stated your opinion, move on. Why keep coming back to derail the thread?

moliver8, homegrown does not speak for the entire forum, it is his opinion (which is entitled to) and clearly others here feel differently. Please don't let this deter you from selling what you intended to, especially since people have expressed interest. Selling stuff here has always been controversial, seems like it will always be. Just do what you gotta do.

If it's against forum rules, someone will report it and Kat/Sea will lock it. End of story.

I agree with this -- if I had stuff to sell I'd almost rather do it on ebay and pay the fees just to avoid getting flamed for selling something like the OP is here which has a value that is hard to measure like promos/limited stuff that's not readily out there/etc.

And on this -- I've seen a ton of times where people post and say "you need to fix (XYZ) or else it violates the rules of the forum" before its even reported. People aren't out to try and shut down threads here... on this forum for the most part it seems like everyone is pretty helpful and will let you know if something seems wrong or needs to be changed.

Agreed. I wasn't suggesting everyone run to Kat and Sea on everything nor do I think that's the norm. But it seems homegrown was suggesting moliver8 was breaking some kind of LD rule and moliver8 seems to believe so, so my only point is if we are going to be black and white on rules, there's a clear way to settle this and it's by reporting it to Kat and Sea. Maybe my choice of words weren't the best. I think that means it's time for bed :D

Nono... I thought you meant it in a good way. :)

I was just saying... not only would it get reported if it was breaking the rules, but people have been nice on here to give heads up to say the items need to be updated with prices or whatever.

Sorry - I definitely wasn't trying to say that you were implying we're all a bunch of people running to Kat/Sea all the time. I just meant people have been pretty good at kind of nudging people when its needed before it even gets to a place where a thread would get locked.

Your words were good... I was just trying to piggyback onto your post.

For all of us probably!
  • there are some royal fools in this forum..

first we have a member trying to sell to other member (best for us ,not always seller)
his values are not over priced most are about current value
since when are you lot forum police
do we need to do this in ever thread someone wants to sell items in
now items will go on ebay.. grrrrr
if you dont want to buy an item dont comment on price or seller..especially when you dont know the value

    well done :|

You know watching this kind of nonsense unfold would make me even more determined to sell here on lost dogs (although me selling things is always a rarity - the disease is terminal with me)

If I ever sell anything I would love to do it here.

Those whining at our OP here are really quite ridiculous. Its the presumptions into other people business that i find most amusing, the nonsense ill judged conclusions that they come to, and the best bit is the sheer hypocrisy.....jealousy is not an attractive attribute at all.

Good luck to the OP in making your sales here, its best to proceed with a smile, deaf ears, and ignore the 'police'.
  • so basically the complaint here is that people should only be allowed to sell their items for what they paid for, how did you find out what the op paid for his vinyl? because surely you would know crucial info like that before you start laying into the guy. oh and i have an into the wild original record for sale for 700, opened benaroya records for 2000, and the same soldier field vinyl the op was selling for 1800. don't worry, this is what i paid for these so take comfort in the fact that i'm making no profit of any true fans.
if you think what I believe is stupid, bizarre, ridiculous or outrageous.....it's ok, I think I had a brain tumor when I wrote that.

Another day, another drama in Lost Dogs. Why people have to derail someone selling items just because they don't like the price is beyond me. Its less hassle selling your items on ebay than it is here nowadays and that's sad.

Good luck OP, whatever you decide to do with your vinyl
