There were only 550 legitimate soldier field sets pressed and probably less than 25 of the Ten test pressing so yes I would qualify these as "rare". I would also guess that there are less than 500 "5 tracks from the new album" pressed as they are near impossible to find but in the end we will never know.
If any mods feel as though my post is offensive then I will take it down. I have not yet received payment for anything so if any mods let me know that this is against the board rules then I will not sell to board members and will find another forum to sell.
I am sorry to offend, and thanks for all your PMs.
Welcome to the Pearl Jam Message Pit's trading forum. Please remember that the spirit of the policy here is meant to keep the trading activities on a fan-to-fan and personal basis, not to create a side business.
You can trade and set a reasonable price here for Pearl Jam memorabilia as long as the item is not available elsewhere on the site.
No flipping* posters, or selling illegal items such as illegal bootlegs from bootleggers, homemade CDs and DVDs, items purchased marked "not for resale", etc.
No auctions are allowed. Links to yours or others' eBay auctions or stores are not ok.
No selling of alcoholic beverages is allowed. That includes Faithfull Ale. There are laws and license requirements for that item and we're not equipped to handle it here in the forums.
Please see the Posting Guidelines and Ten Club rules to be sure you are in compliance with all site rules/legalities.

the Legit Soldier Field was an LP SANCTIONED by the band to be given away at St. Louis FM Station 105.7 KPNT “The Point”.
They were given away in October of '96 (16 yrs ago)...No Illegal Bootleg here.
Cut to 17yrs later...these are HIGHLY coveted now, as I'm sure that the band knew they would be or they wouldn't have signed off on them to begin with...the price for these are now in the $100's...if the Band doesn't have a problem, why should you? You earlier referred to this (rightly so) as ART. So, using that, if somehow down the line in your family, you found out you had an original print given to your family by Picasso, which has now found its way to you...for whatever reason you need to get rid of it....are you gonna just give it to somebody for free because they like paintings by Picasso? Or are you going to sell it at what the market says its worth?

I'm keeping these items, it seems that its only acceptable on "Lost Dogs" if I sell for the lowest price that these ever sold for ever. Sorry again for wasting everyone's time.0

With time things become "RARE" and therefore those who've possessed such items somehow feel they've contributed something to justify these astronomical prices. I can appreciate financial woes and understand market values but this doesn't give you the right to reap profit from other peoples art. You want these items to find a deserving home then offer them up for what you paid. This isn't ebay and unless this is for charity it's not cool.
Hey there. When you come into posession of an original Soldier Field LP and then decide to unload it, please contact me first with a handsome discount in place.
And you have no idea what he paid for it. Just like him buying a house, no one is giving the house to him for what they paid. He's paying the current market value.
I have a degree in writing, yet even I understand these things to be freemarket economics.
And that new album you speak of? Press the sucker on white vinyl, and you'll easily find it gets $150. And this is for an album on colored vinyl, which is inferior in sound reproduction. If the kitchen's too hot, there's always room at the chicken bbq.
I think it's fair to say you're the one who's made this thread take on the persona you'd heard about. And your point may have been valid, but the way you presented it was anything but appropriate. And you're a big man wanting to fight me with your internet muscles. Congrats to you on that.
I'll let you in on a little secret. Phrases like:I love this! (*sic: with obvious sarcasm)

Are all misguided and inappropriate. Again, You don't know what the OP paid for any of these.Post edited by AfghanTwilight on0 -

Good for you and your degree! Wow! I guess this is the bashing I've been hearing about. What happened to this place? You used to be able to bring up a different perspective with valid points and politely disagree but this is really quite something. And the temperature isn't hot in here, it's down right cold. But I'd gladly meet you in the kitchen and show you how to cook.[/quote]

You clearly don't understand my issue and you assume too much and you brought up the kitchen, so...."..I'm not present, I'm the drug that makes you dream, I'm an aerostar, I'm a cutlass supreme in the wrong lane trying to turn against the flow, I'm the ocean, I'm the giant undertow..."

There's a difference between telling someone to take a walk if they can't take the stress from a large contingent of voices telling them to back off the issue, and that of inviting someone to a fisticuffs. I don't even know the OP, but he certainly didn't deserve a roasting. Nor do you. But you have to make a decision to walk away from the issue you've welcomed here tonight.0

I hope you are happy now that you have prevented the OP from selling his items. I'm not quite sure what you were trying to accomplish by even posting. This doesn't concern you at all and while it is your opinion that you are entitled to....it just makes you come off whiny, sorry.
And you are talking about all of the "bashing" going on here? Well I think your post was made to bring attention to yourself and start something out of nothing. So when you make a comment like that just deal with the responses people may have.
I hate to ramble but it just really irks me seeing something so childish going on here. If you didn't make a useless post then the OP could have sold some really cool items to some folks who would really enjoy it. Hope that makes you happy. :P'08- Camden 1-2 '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4

It sucks the OP doesnt want to list the items anymore. This forum is here to help people avoid having to go to ebay both for buying and selling, and to a certain extent its pretty well self-policed. If someone is charging way too much, it won't sell and I'm fairly certain someone will say "its a big overpriced." If its not overpriced it sells and everyone is happy.
Collectibles are going to have varying values and many will increase over time. Pearl Jam has fed into this immensely with posters, limited vinyl, CD singles, etc over the last 20 years. I'm not saying they WANTED this, but by creating demand for these items of course its going to create a market for it with prices that are going to vary from low to insane.
I hope the OP reconsiders since it appeared there was interest in a few of the items that I know some people were looking for. If the standard is that we can't sell above the original value (which is impossible based on the fact that a lot of these are promos), there won't be a need for a Lost Dogs forum.0 -
@ homegrown
You're not the seller, or potential buyer by the sound of it, so while your 2cents might be important to you, it does nothing here besides derail a perfectly acceptable thread for both the OP, and fans and members who may have had a chance to get what they want, for a price they are willing to pay.
If I understand your point of view correctly, then please contact me when you decide to sell your Benaroya Hall vinyl boxed set for the original $45.00 issue price, as I am currently looking to shell out the thick end of $1000.00 for one. I'll even buy you a beer as a thank you! Or would that be viewed as excessive profit........?
Being constructive, rather than destructive, is always more gratifying.I'll keep takin' punches until their will grows tired... Hey I won't change direction and I won't change my mind.......0 -
this thread pisses me off...totally unnecessary0

moliver8, homegrown does not speak for the entire forum, it is his opinion (which is entitled to) and clearly others here feel differently. Please don't let this deter you from selling what you intended to, especially since people have expressed interest. Selling stuff here has always been controversial, seems like it will always be. Just do what you gotta do.
If it's against forum rules, someone will report it and Kat/Sea will lock it. End of story.0 -
