    I prefer "Light Years", but to me, "In My Tree" is not so much about longing and loss. I find it to be a more positive song about self-discovery.

    Sarah, agreed on the IMT perspective, and pretty much why it's my preference. It lifts me.

    Start to finish, each element, has fueled my strength in lyrics, passionate voice, THOSE FUCKING DRUMS, and the sturdy branches on which I can always take refuge...escape (even fling back) those fucking crowbars and of course - trading stories with those beautiful green sticky leaves ;)

    Would have been by a country mile a little while ago, but fairly recently Light Years has become much more of a favorite for me. Such a beautiful and meaningful song. Can't beat the Pinkpop '00 version with that speech before it.

    6 months after writing this answer, it would change from In My Tree to Light Years. And has stayed that way ever since. Light Years is an incredibly emotional song that takes on a whole new meaning when you can apply it directly to your life. I'm glad a song like Light Years is out there. Has helped me through a lot.

    I love light years but In My Tree is something else in a different league completely. The drums, the creativity, the sounds, the feel. That moment at 2:40 is really one of the best moments of sound that PJ ever created. Takes you away. This song is in the top 5 for me.

    I agree, Seaturtle, but I prefer the Jack versions.

    I find it interesting that there's much of a debate between these two songs. I love both but In My Tree is better by leaps and bounds. It's not even close!
