I've always thought that Slash is an awesome musician but never really bothered to look up his stuff. And them saw him on Muhammad Ali's 70th bday bash and at the same time got an email from Classic Rock mag about the upcoming album "Apocalyptic Love". Didn't see a thread so I thought I might as well start one :D

Not looking to start a debate on GNR/Axl/Slash, but I'm just finding all this stuff about Slash and am getting really excited for the new album :mrgreen:

  • I'm looking forward to the new record, I'm a big Myles Kennedy fan so it will be good to hear a full record with him singing. Here's a teaser for the new single:

I'd never heard of Myles Kennedy until last night and I'm not sure why   Everything I've seen so far has been pretty awesome :mrgreen:
  • Full version of You're a Lie up now - http://youtu.be/ZB05RxsKxUY

Not impressed with it at all. Very generic sounding. In fact, apart from the intro and the solo, you'd hardly tell it was Slash at all.
  • Sounds just ok to me but the album will be worth checking out I think.

All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
  • I think the song's fine for what it is, the chorus is catchy and has a decent groove. Knowing what Myles Kennedy is capable of as a singer and lyricist (I'm talking about Mayfield Four not Alter Bridge) it's obvious he's dumbing it down, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't like me some big dumb rock
  • It's hard for me to get into guitarists doing solo albums. You have to like the people they get to write the lyrics and sing otherwise it ruins it for me and I can't just focus on their guitar playing.

Love these guys - still don't understand how they weren't "bigger". Anyone that enjoys Myles on vocals should track these CDs down. Mayfield 4 >>>>>> Alter Bridge.

Yeah they really should have been a lot bigger. In all honesty I'm most looking forward to Myles' solo record, I think it will be good to hear him without him having to copromise and fit in with his collaborators.
  • For me, there is no downside to this new album. I am a huge Alter Bridge/Mayfield Four/Myles Kennedy fan...and really loved Slash's earlier collaborations with him (and with others too - I really loved the song he did with Chris Cornell and the one he did with M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) especially.

Slash is doing a great job of selecting his collaborators, and as singers go, there is none better than Myles Kennedy. I'm looking forward to the new record too.

I'm super excited about this album. Love Slash, love Kennedy - both together is fantastic. Myles' voice suits Slash's music and vice versa.

I have Slash's first album with all those collaborations (which were great) and also his live one (at Stoke). Loving the live one too but I really look forward to hearing new material (and not just lots of GnR songs mixed with new).

Can't wait for them to play in London!

This was what piqued my interest. Note that Myles is fully clothed.

Wild Horses (Slash, Myles Kennedy and Haley Reinhart): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaJx1Oinu0M

I don't know how Haley kept her shit together, I would have been losing it onstage

 I was so excited to receive my e-mail from the new (tiny) theater right by my house that they'll be playing there on a Saturday night in August. Then clicked to look at prices - $90 with charges? Sorry, can't justify that. Oh, well. That seems overpriced for them to me for this band (even in this small a venue). I guess I'll pass and hope everyone that wants in, gets in (which at this price, I can't imagine would be a problem). If anyone wants the Venue early on sale password for the Paramount in Huntington, PM me.

Funny side note - that's about what G 'n R was priced at for Roseland, and I didn't even think twice about it(and it was worth every penny and then some).
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
