i dig. i actually like last night's slightly more, but tonight's main was still good. the encore, thus far, is already better than last night, however.
It has never sounded right live. I haven't heard a live version that's close to being as good as the studio cut.
Really? I think almost all of them do.
I love what ed does vocally (going low instead of high on "wish I'd seen the place, playing around with some of the "hearts and thoughts" at the end) and I love the various live arrangements. ... How the full bands kicks back in for the final round of hearts and thoughts ... I like it 100 times better live than on record. And on record is no slouch.

10:23 Update: It’s goosebumps time! Vedder’s leading a congregation of 15,000 through “Black.” I feel like I’m 14 again hearing/singing along with my friends to this song. God bless Pearl Jam.
The doo-doo-doo-doos are always a cool moment, too, especially when ed steps back from the mic and lets the crowd finish.
One of my favorite PJ moments was in San Antonio '03, when Ed was grooving by himself to the outro of this song, realized the crowd was singing the doo's loud as fuck, so he slunk up to the mic, twisted it around to face us ... then slunk back to the corner to groove. We sang our asses off that night.

Just got home from work...and from what I can see, another great set from the guys thus far. Sometimes has made a comeback...MITS, Down, Light Years...only 6 repeats through 19 songs. Very impressed thus far in the tour.

how about dublin in 2000 when ed stage dives during it??? i think it was his last REAL stage dive ever...
he (and everyone in the span of 3 rows) literally dove for it and couldn't believe it when he had it in his hand. he was so happy.
he sent me a txt when 'down' started because i was hoping for it last night.
lucky bastard. haha.
How cool, can't wait to hear about it from him. I texted him and told him I saw the vid but he didn't respond..must be caught up in the moment right now, can't say I blame him, haha.
I am interested to find out if the 2 guys he is with that are front and center tonight come out with any picks/sticks/setlists/tambourines/etc.

This has been really surreal tonight...Many times in my Pearl Jam obsession (I am sure you understand), I have wondered what they were doing...and at this moment I know exactly what they are doing. I am now thoroughlyanxious for the HF show. (the only one I can go to). I would never thought 15 years ago that I would get a play by play of the show. Cool.
If I knew where it was I would take you there. There's much more than this

there goes my acoustic theory...
i like seeing this song live, but not really listening to it. the weakest on the "new" album, IMHO.

Yup, I've counted 6 repeats thus far. I'm figuring Alive will probably get played again, so that'll make 7, and they'll probably close with RITFW.
