Just out of interest, what is everyones favourite trade they have made or purchase?
I wanna hear good stories about tracking stuff down, haggling, driving miles to meet people etc etc.

can we inject some good vibes into this forum, I like record/memorabilia collecting stories :D

I am currently sitting on a deal that is too ridiculous for me to comprehend yet, so excited when it lands in my lap.
Sealed vinyl is bad vinyl.

A fellow board member sold me a sealed version of Yield about a month ago for $120, He was local so he delivered it right to my house! I thought that was a pretty good deal considering.

Met a guy in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot from Craigslist a few years ago to pick up a few guitar pedals and a pedal board. I got 3 pedals and a pedalboard, which if new would have been at least $800. I got everything for $200.

Sealed RVM from someone here for $140 shipped :mrgreen:
  • I collect Bob Dylan records, and I was in a shop and found a sealed, original first pressing Oh Mercy for $5. Well, I had an opened copy, but not a sealed copy, so I teetered back and forth while at the shop on whether I needed it or not, as I had a stack of a dozen records or so...I decided to buy it. I checked into it's value when I got home and saw a sealed copy had sold on ebay for over $300! I found a person through the vinyl message board world who bought that record from me for $450! I bought a copy of The White Stripes- Get Behind Me Satan on vinyl with my "winnings"...I don't think I will ever top that one.

Wow, I am literally green with envy on some of these deals (but extremely happy for fellow Pearl Jam fans). The prices I saw on this thread for Riot Act, Yield, and Avocado are INSANE. In the last three weeks I paid 140 for No Code and 136 for Riot Act. The message: don't buy on eBay, have patience and one of your fellow jammers are bound to sell a copy, and it will be a much fairer price.

So, who is selling me Yield or Avocado?

Anyhow, great idea for a thread!

    This past December trade:

my PJ20 Billboard and PJ20 Hampton posters = received Benaroya Hall Vinyl Box Set

Cool posters but no real emotional attachment for me since I missed the PJ20 Festival.

Never thought I would own a Benny at a reasonable price. My out-of pocket...$118 ;)

  • One time, I walked into a garage sale where it was an older lady running it, but she had a bunch of family members that were bringing stuff as it went along. I saw a couple crates of records and when I checked 'em out, it was tons of cool stuff. Beatles, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Neil, Lennon, just to name a few. All in great shape too. I asked the lady how much they were and she says "Oh, my son just dropped those off. He wants 75 cents a piece, and if you stick around, he just went to get some more!" I had $27 on me, so I picked out as many as I could pay for. Before I left, her son showed up again, and he had another couple hundred records in his truck to drop off. More cool stuff...Floyd, Springsteen, CSNY, King Crimson, Cream, Stones. Needless to say, I found the nearest time machine and went right back. In all I took home around 100 albums that day. 21 Beatles albums, every Zeppelin album, Bruce's first half dozen albums, 5 Hendrix albums, 7 Who albums, and obviously, a bunch more besides. It was right when I started collecting vinyl again, so it was unbeliveable to find so much stuff that I wanted in one spot, for so cheap! My dad was with me and he said "You probably got in an hour, what should've taken you 20 years to collect." He's probably right, but you never know. Never had a score like that since. Still got 'em all too. 8-)

Best ever PJ find for me? Offical Las Vegas 2000 10th Anniversary show bootleg for $2...

    ...at a garage sale. :D
