Happy to see White Stripes songs in the mix! I'm a fan of pretty much all of Jack's projects but the White Stripes will always be dearest to my heart.

Damn! I was in Nashville that night for the Mumford and Sons show. I would have loved to run into him or somehow gotten into this show. I may have skipped the Mumford show if I got to see him lol. I pre-ordered the new 7" and the 12" of the full album today. I'm sad that he is playing Hangout and I probably can't go. That would be the closest he would probably come too.

  • I saw Jack last night here in Memphis. The show was great, as expected. All of the old songs were rearranged, lots of upright bass, fiddle, lap pedal steel, and mandolin. The whole thing had a country feel. He played for 90 minutes. The best part was Seven Nation Army, Jack had the band stop playing while the crowd did the chant while he sang it.

Also, they weren't playing around about taking pictures. There were signs everywhere, and a guy came out and announced it too. As soon as the house lights went down, the girl next to me took a picture of the stage and they booted her.

he better not skip philly! Jack White hasn't played/headlined a philly show in 10 years. Dead Weather and Raconteurs included. (sorry not including the Raconteurs opening for Dylan at the spectrum few years back).

There should be a link on iTunes' music homepage. Try scrolling thru the main window. Pretty sweet being able to stream an album in it's entirety thru iTunes 8-) . Blunderbuss, after one listen, is pretty amazing and is schizophrenically good in the same way Jack is. It covers a lot of musical ground and should weather well. Looking forward to the vinyl landing on me doorstep :)

And I got my flights to LA for the intimate show at the end of this month - woooooooooooooooooooooooooo

It's very piano driven. If I had to compare it to another of his records, I'd say it reminds me of Get Behind Me Satan---both in the tone of the lyrics and instrumentation. I can tell this is gonna be an album that gets a lot of play at my house.
  • chiquimonkeychiquimonkey Posts: 9,337
Trash Tongue Talker sounds like it'd be a great song for a throwdown between Jack and Elton John in some honky tonk somewhere :)
  • Got my hands on a copy of Blunderbuss today. Killer album! I agree with the "piano driven" comment. Definitely some Nashville influence mixed with old fashioned rock n' roll too. This album won't have to "grow on you", I loved it the first time through!
