How many victory formations will tough-guy Schiano's Bucs going to face now?
Not a NYG fan, but that was bush-league...
Ron Jaworski this morning said Coughlin needs to apologize to Schiano, it wasn't illegal (its not) - WTF?
    Wow...

I think he was frustrated at how bad the refs were, with the obvious Jackson td and roughing the qb on Bradford in the first half.

Doesn't matter how frustrated you are...no excuse for an idiotic play like that.

In the NFL this is a version of the player "giving himself up"...LOVE the passion of playing through the whistle and for 60 minutes, etc...BUT
Eli went to a knee- once the knee touches, BY RULE, there can be no fumble. Someone on the OL could have gotten hurt.
Correct in it not being illegal, it is bush...weak move made by a sore loser.
This line was great from Schiano, however: "We crowd the ball -- it's like a sneak defense and you try to knock it loose. Watch Rutgers, they would know if they watched us that's what we did at the end of the game."
Not sure 2 time SB winner Coughlin was dialing up NJ public access TV to watch Rutgers film :lol::lol:

Is it any different then when that bitch marino went to the line against the jets signaling the spike play and then throwing a pass for a TD? A defense should never give up. Just my opinion.

    a) Marino never went to his knee
    b) The NYJ defense DID give up on that play
    c) The Jets, after that play, for the next 5 years, won a grand total of only 6 games. The "fake spike" play nearly destroyed the Jets franchise.

    Some bitch ;)

The Bucs were down by one score. The game was not over. The Jets have been to 3 conference championships since that play. Three more than the fish. I think they're fine.

BTW, I do believe the play isn't dead until the QB is touched by a defender while on his knee.

Giants- Bucs game was so exciting- back and forth action, 5 INTs!, 510 yards thrown by Eli!, 2 Giants recievers with 150+ yards game, Vincent Jackson tearing it up, and everyone wants to talk about the last play :? :x.

When the team leading has the ball with less than 40 seconds and the losing team is out of timeouts it's over.

If no other offensive player crosses the line of scrimmage, it's considered the qb giving himself up and the play is whistled dead.

Mike Golic did make a valid point on their show this morning that sorta shifts the blame back to the Giants. They should've paid attention to the d-line and noticed that they were still playing to win.

I think it was kinda a bushleague move, given that's the nature of the way every close NFL game ends, but in defense of the Bucs crazy things can happen.

    It was a legal play.

Never know what can happen. Kudos to the Bucs not letting up.

Never said it wasn't. Just pointing out that when a qb kneels the play is over and doesn't need to be touched for the play to end.

I can respect the fact that Schiano was trying to send a message to his team, as a new coach, but I think it was kinda ill advised as well. Coughlin blew it out of proportion though.

If he doesn't want to get knocked on his ass next time I suggest he take the kneel dwon from the shotgun then. I would have loved to see what would have happened if he fumbled that ball.

I agree. Anything can happen and you should play a full 60 minute game, not 59 minutes and 30 seconds. I wish more teams would fight to the last second instead of conceding just because they are out of timeouts. Call it bush league if you want, but players get paid way too much to not give it their all, every second of every game(I wish the Cowboys would play 60 minutes, but that's a different topic  )
