Christie would be an excellent choice by Romney. There are many conservatives that are not strong supporters of Romney but love Christie. Adding him to the ticket would unite the base and provide the GOP with a more moderate candidate to capture independent voters.
that might be true. but this race is so all over the place that romney has time to tank it by november 2012. he has been up and down most of the race and he is up right now. but then again so is santorum :o:o:o

plus there are hints of trump running as an independent and apparently palin is running ads in iowa too. it is not too late for her to jump in without risking getting exposed as a hack in the 29 or whatever debates the gop candidates are holding..
I really think Mitt is going to be the candidate and that this whole debate circus has been a fundraising charade. The GOP knows he is the only one with a realistic chance of beating Obama (besides Paul, who they will not support). And Mitt has remained steady in the polls while everyone else fluctuates like moths getting to close to a light bulb.

Palin would only "suggest" entering to gain publicity for her reality ventures ... she may be stupid politically, but I don't think she is as stupid when it comes to making money. Trump has officially turned into a Donald Trump impersonator. I still can't believe I had friends that were talking realistically about him being president 9 months ago.

And back in November. “If we re-elect Barack Obama, Iran will have a nuclear weapon,” Romney said during a debate on foreign policy sponsored by CBS News and National Journal. “If you elect me as president, Iran will not have a nuclear weapon.”

And, if God forbid, Mitt is elected as president, he would send us to war in another Middle East country and waste more of our money. NO MORE WAR!!!!!

I hope not. The Greed Over People candidates who are running for president said, "Bring our troops home from Iraq", and Obama does (which, 2011 was a deal reached by Bush in 2008 to bring them home), they still complain (except Ron Paul, I believe). I can't believe some people take them seriously.

aside from ron paul, and i do not consider him a republican per se, no republicans supported bringing the troops home before the tea party won their seats and began to complain about the deficit. only in late 2010 did they begin to say we need to bring them home and even more recently that we should consider cutting military funding. funny how these idiots running in 2012 are attacking obama for bringing troops home when it was bush's agreement. what are these people going to do? put troops back in there???

seriously, what the fuck are they running on other than undoing everything obama has done???

Ike and Reagan must be shaking in their graves right now at the Republicans today.

those guys would not be republicans today. if they were they would not be on the national stage. the highest office they would have today would be a governor or something. they were way too moderate for today's gop, and would not get the backing of the national republican party leadership, and arguably more important, the support of fox news....

the saddest thing of all is ron paul has a legitimate chance to give obama a run for his money if he gets the nomination. but fox news minimizes his contributions at the debates...fox news does not support him and fox news bashes him every chance they get...

“I need your help, you guys,” Romney exhorted the crowd. “This is a real battle – it’s a battle for the future course of America. I don’t want politicians running America anymore. I want to make sure that we have citizen leaders going to Washington, leading this country, fighting for the soul of this great country.”

“He’s in Hawaii right now,” Romney said. “We’re out in the cold and the rain and the wind because we care about America. He’s out there -- he just finished his 90th round of golf. We’ve got 25 million Americans that are out of work or stopped looking for work or are underemployed.”

“Do you want more of Barack Obama?” Romney asked.

    “No,” the crowd shouted back.

“Do you want more of Obamacare?”

    “No.”

“Do you want promises of higher taxes?”

    “No.”

Christie warned Iowans that if they don’t support Romney in next Tuesday’s caucuses, “I will be back -- Jersey style, people.”

“When you look at that stage and you’ve watched these debates, I think you’ve got to come to the conclusion I’ve come to -- there is no person better qualified by his experience and his character to take on Barack Obama and to lead the United States of America than Governor Mitt Romney,” Christie said.

    “No.”
What is it that he doesn't like about Obamacare? Is it because Romneycare was the basis for Obama's health care law? Is it because of the individual mandate that's in it, which was first a conservative idea back in the late 80s/early 90s?

come on silly, romney saus that it is because romneycare "only works in massachusetts and is not a model for the rest of the country"....

that is like me saying that medicare only works for missouri and is not a model for the rest of the country.

romney puts the flip in flip-flopper.....

Probably a stupid question, but is this directed at me?

If it is, I know Reagan did nothing good for America except start the economic problems that we have today.

“I think he’s forgetting that he had a Democrat Congress for his first two years that put in place his economic plans,” Mr. Romney said. “He borrowed $787 billion, told us that if we let him borrow that kind of money he’d keep unemployment below 8%. It has not been below 8% since. He has failed.”

    awesome hard work

if he would consider runner up

ron paul is the only conservative candidate who has any ideas worth while...still wouldn't vote for him but mitt romney doesn't have anything to tout. He spent his career in the private sector buying companies and selling them off or laying off workers to make money...he didn't create jobs at all; the health care bill he signed in MA is almost identical to Obama's...and it works pretty well for them in Mass....on a sidenote, there are still rumors that Clinton may jump on as a VP and Biden may move to her position so that would really kill this romney/christie bid you think of.

About 25% of what Ron Paul says is sane....the rest is absolutely batshit crazy.

Conan O'Brien did a fake ad a few weeks ago that was probably pretty accurate as to what the country would be like if Ron Paul got what he wanted. Basically every citizen would be given a lead pipe to beat back the starving horde of people that would be swarming because of the loss of social security, welfare, unemployment benefits, etc.

Also if iI could add.I have noticed a disturbing trend as of late. Rand Paul sitting in with his Dad during many recent interviews. It seems when Ron can't finish a thought or give a coherent answear Rand seems to but in and answear for him.
Let's also remember we had one president with alzheimers in the White House (Reagan.) Do we really need another?

When will media demand that Mitt Romney back up his claims about jobs?

    By Greg Sargent

I don’t know how to be any clearer about this, but here goes. It is now beyond doubt that Mitt Romney will be resting his case against Obama on two core claims.

The first: At Bain Capital, Romney created over 100,000 jobs, which proves he has the job-creation experience to turn the economy around.

The second: Under the Obama presidency, the country has actually lost jobs, which proves his record is a failure.

These claims are absolutely central to Romney’s entire rationale for runing for president. Is it too much to expect reporters and news outlets to scrutinize them or to ask him to substantiate them?

The Romney campaign is triumphantly circulating a quote that Romney gave to Fox News today. Asked about the Dem criticism of his Bain years, Romney replied:

“This is a president who lost more jobs during his tenure than any president since Hoover. This is 2 million jobs that he lost as President. And by the way, when he was overseeing General Motors and Chrysler, how many factories did he close? How many dealerships? How many thousands upon thousands of Americans had to be let go in an effort to try and save those businesses? That’s what we did in our business. And I’m very happy in my former life; we helped create over 100,000 new jobs. By the way, we created more jobs in Massachusetts than this president’s created in the entire country. So if the President wants to talk about jobs, and I hope he does, we’ll be comparing my record with his record and he comes up very, very short.”

It’s obviously too much to expect Fox to challenge these claims. But Romney has made this assertion about 100,000 new jobs in various other settings, too. As Steve Benen noted, his Super PAC is also making a very similar claim in ads. And as far as I can tell, only two lonely fact checking operations — one at the Post, the other at FactCheck.org — have scrutinized it. They have found that the assertion is at best unsubstantiated and that there may have been more layoffs than jobs created by Bain; there’s no way to tell for sure. When will reporters push Romney on this?

Meanwhile, Romney’s claim that two million jobs were lost under the Obama presidency is based on the idea that there’s been a net loss of jobs since he took office. In other words, Romney is taking into account the fact that the economy continued hemorraghing jobs at a furious rate after Obama took office — before Obama’s stimulus passed. But the figures show that once it became law, monthly job loss declined over time, and turned around in the spring of 2010, after which the private sector added jobs for over 20 straight months, totaling around 2.2 million of them.

You can debate whether the stimulus underperformed. You can debate whether the stimulus is the reason the economy did add private sector jobs. You can argue that public sector jobs loss should be factored in. But it is not debatable to claim that the overall net jobs loss number Romney cites is a fair measure of the success or failure of Obama’s policies. At an absolute minimum, Romney should be pressed to explain why he’s claiming this net loss figure as an indictment of those policies, when many of those jobs were lost before the policies were implemented.

When NBC, to its enormous credit, pressed Romney to justify his debunked claim that Obama made the economy “worse,” the network made big news by getting Romney to backtrack. These latest claims provide another opportunity to do the same, people.

oh mitt....what a shithead. Whether you like Obama or not, he saved a lot of jobs by bailing out the auto industry...there were a shitload of jobs that were going to be lost if nothing was done there and for him to come out and say that the president fucked up the auto industry's job market is asinine. Romney did not create jobs while at Bain if you look into how many people he fired.....

Romney’s statement, while technically correct, is lacking crucial context. He compares his four-year record with Obama’s three-year tally and ignores the fact that hundreds of thousands of jobs were lost before Obama’s policies had an impact. He also focuses on his job creation record as a business consultant but does not count the jobs that were lost.

i can't believe romney would make a stupid comment about the chevy volt ... horrendous ...

in any case - i am of the belief now that obama will make it to term 2 ... although i contend that any candidate with a R next to their name can win the presidency (and I mean ANYONE) ... i believe the establishment prefers continuity and obama will get his 8 years as long as he complies (which he has) ... this list of GOP candidates is absurd and laughable except it really is more sad than funny ... edit: Paul excluded ...
