This morning, Speaker Pro Tempore Michael Fitzpatrick (R-PA), under orders from Speaker Boehner, refused to allow Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer to speak on the floor and ask for unanimous consent to bring up the Senate bipartisan compromise to extend the payroll tax cut. Whip Hoyer and Congressman Chris Van Hollen are continuing to try to offer the Senate compromise even though Republicans walked off the floor. Once again, Republicans are risking a tax increase on 160 million Americans and the loss unemployment benefits for those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

Before you so quick to blame the Republicans remember Obama had for 2 years control of both houses and still has NOT been able to pass a budget. Health care narrowly passed at the cost of many Democratic Congressman. The problem is these jokers worry about their own jobs before they worry about the country. Bush was not a good President but was far better then this Vacationing President we have in office right now. C'mon, 17 days in Hawaii???????
How much time did Bush spend in Crawford during his presidency? Not supporting either, I just think its weak to attack Obama because he took a vacation.
I am not defending Bush but Crawford was his home and cost the Taxpayers very little compared to $77,000 extra so Michelle could fly out early. He also spent his Christmas at Camp David so his staff could spend time with their families. Obama is a joke, Period.

I really hate political debates because there are so many sad differences. The really sad thing is that when push comes to shove, we really want the same outcome. A planet for our kids to grow old on. Bob Weir used to sing:
Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
Dizzy with eternity
Paint it with a skin of sky, brush in some clouds and sea
Call it home for you and me
A peaceful place, or so it looks from space
A closer look reveals the human race
Full of hope, full of grace, is the human face
But afraid we may lay our home to waste
There's a fear down here we can't forget
Hasn't got a name just yet
Always awake, always around
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
Now watch as the ball revolves and the night-time falls (note 1)
And again the hunt begins and again the blood wind calls (note 2)
By and by, again, the morning sun will rise
But the darkness never goes from some men's eyes
(Well I know)
It strolls the sidewalk and it rolls the streets
Staking turf, dividing up meat
Nightmare spook, piece of heat
It's you and me, you and me
Click flash blade in ghetto night
Rudy's looking for a fight
Rat cat alley, roll them bones
Need that cash to feed that Jones
And the politicians throwing stones
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
Commissars and pinstripe bosses roll the dice
Anyway they fall, guess who gets to pay the price? (note 3)
Money green, or proletarian gray (note 4)
Selling guns instead of food today (note 5)
So the kids they dance and shake their bones
And the politicians throwing stones
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
Heartless powers try to tell us what to think
If the spirit's sleeping then the flesh is ink
History's page will be neatly carved in stone
The future's here, we are it, we are on our own
On our own, on our own, we are on our own
If the game is lost, then we're all the same
No one left to place or take the blame
We will leave this place an empty stone
Or that shining ball of blue we call our home
So the kids, they dance, they shake their bones
And the politicians throwing stones
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
Shipping powders back and forth
Singing black goes south and white comes north (note 6)
And the whole world full of petty wars
Singing I got mine and you got yours
While the current fashions set the pace
Lose your step, fall out of grace
The radical, he rant and rage
Singing someone got to turn the page
And the rich man in his summer home
Singing just leave well enough alone
But his pants are down, his cover's blown
And the politicians throwing stones
So the kids, they dance, they shake their bones
'Cause it's all too clear we're on our own
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
It's dizzying, the possibilities
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
[Ashes, ashes, all fall down]
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
[Ashes, ashes, all fall down]
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
[Ashes, ashes, all fall down]
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
[Ashes, ashes, all fall down]
This pretty much sums it up for me. I am a conservative fiscally but center right on social issues. Does it make me a bad person?
what has ron paul accomplished in congress this term????
really, aside from voting with most of the rank and file, what legislation has he authored or sponsored this term?
He and Democrat and hard-core liberal Barney Frank co-sponsored a bill to end the federal ban on marijuana.
Ron Paul got the HOUSE to approve auditing the fed.
He has spoke on the house floor against every Patriot act/terrorist custody bill.
What more can you ask for? name any politicians thats tried to do more for liberty....please.....I dare you/.

Like Gimmie stated the GOP will do anything in it's power to get Obama out of office even if it means bringin this country to it's knees ....Race did play a big part in their strategy .....
the same could be said about Obama. This payroll tax thing is a joke. When the House passed their version, Obama urged the Senate not to pass it.....because HE WANTS TO GET REELECTED....even if it means WE suffer.
VOTE RON PAUL, fuck the GOP and fuck the DEMS. They are both swine.
NO, i would have you remember that as soon as obama got elected, mitch mcconnell came out on the record and said "the mission of the 112th congress was to make sure obama is a one term president". sounds pretty god damn obstructionist to me...no matter what obama wanted to do they opposed it without offering any suggestions. they are selfish and spineless pieces of crap.
GOP= GRAND OBSTRUCTIONIST PARTY
the ironic thing is the washington post came out today and ripped the house gop and said that obama is in a better position to win re-election right now than he was a year ago. it is because of the republicans in this congress playing games. the public realizes it now, and they are getting pissed..
the funny thing is the gop senators are coming out and bashing boehner and cantor and the rest of the congressional rank and file. it is hilarious to hear them criticize each other.
my theory is the only reason the gop is doing this is because each and every one of them is afraid that they will have to face someone more to the right of them in the next election, which based on this current congress is not possible. they need to worry about someone more moderate coming in and knocking their ass out of a job..
Obama turned his back on 99 percent of what he promised. I was Bush's biggest critic. Im not a party player. I call it like i see. Clinton's first term was our last effective presidency. Reagan's before that. and then u had to go all the way back to eisenhower to find a good one. pull your head out of the two-party system's ass, with all due repsect

obama had to turn his back on 99 percent of what he promised. the GOP threw bullshit provisions into all of the bills that obama wanted to pass. remember extending the bush tax cuts last time?? he had to do that because the gop said the only reason they would vote to extend unemployment benefits is if obama would extend the bush cuts another year. had he said no he would have fucked the unemployed, god knows there are more unemployed that would have been hurt by that than millionaires who would have had their taxes raised..what would you have done in that situation? if i were him i would have had to take that deal because the unemployed are his base and i could not have turned my back on them.
this is an example of the games that the GOP plays. they hold one group of people hostage for political reasons so they can take care of their own supporters...
here is a short list of what he has accomplished in spite of unprescedented hatred and opposition..

i hate to burst you or anyone else's bubble, but ron paul is not going to beat obama. i support his foreign policy, but the majority of americans are not going to go along with his domestic policy. the libertarian perspective looks good on paper, but if implements it would be an even greater failure than the current system. and even if he did win the white house, what is one man going to do with a hostile senate and hostile house? look at obama as an example... if paul wins the white house and the same dumbasses are in congress nothing will change.

umm, he's as electable as Barack Obama was at this point in the game four years ago. How quick we forget. Ronald Reagan was "unelectable." Jimmy Carter was "unelectable." The White House has been filled by many "unelectable" people.

how do you say he is electable now? because he is polling at or near the top in iowa? it took obama awhile to win a primary and look what he did. he defeated the clintons, which nobody was able to do since he was governor of arkansas.
but i stand by my assertion that a paul presidency, domestically speaking, would be a disaster.
now back to the do nothing congress, has anyone heard what mccain said about the gop representatives?

really, aside from voting with most of the rank and file, what legislation has he authored or sponsored this term?
Wait a second. So you judge a good congressman by how many bills he or she passes, not whether they do their job and uphold their oath to the constitution; striking down bills that are unconstitutional? If you ask me, we need less bullshit bills that nobody reads until after they are passed, not more.

no i judge a congressman by how full of shit he/she is....most times these assholes will go on and on about how they love america yet their votes show that they care about the rich and do not care about those that are not rich and might possibly god forbid need government assistance of some sort...i judge boehner as a self serving asshole, and anyone that signed grover norquist's pledge i call a fucking hypocrite, because they swore to never raise taxes on anyone, yet they are completely prepared to raise taxes on millions of americans when the payroll tax exemption expires on jan 1............i ask nothing of you except to prove to me and everyone here that the house gop has the interests of normal middle class americans at heart.....they don't because they would rather see obama fail than do anything to help your average american...and i will say that to ron paul, eric cantor or john boehner's fucking faces...

What evidence do you have that shows it will fail? I am interested, not trying to be confrontational.
I think all the people who constantly rag on and on in immigration threads about the general american feeling that they are the most important and the foreigners do't matter and in those same threads continue to shout out that borders don't matter, while making the point that we are all human...well what is more important to you? some domestic policies that might be a little different(may or may not work, but won't get people blown up) or the guarantee that if ANYONE else wins, Obama - Romney - Bachmann - Gingrich - Santorum... more people on foreign shores will die directly because of American foreign policy.

ron paul's biggest hurdle is getting that nomination because the GOP establishment have much more to lose than the democratic one ...

Okay, but I hope you realize what you first said doesn't sound anything like that. I also think you should look at Ron Paul's voting record before you spout off falsities about him voting with the rank and file. He was labeled "Dr. No" for a reason and it wasn't because of always falling in line with the rest of the GOP.
Why would I defend the GOP in its entirety, let alone the house GOP? I think the vast majority of them are terrible, but I don't stop there: I also think the vast majority of the democrats are terrible as well. They are both guilty of playing games with the average American's money.
Boehner and the GOP House are really fucking up with the payroll tax fiasco. The Democrats have them cornered and if they fail to pass the extension, every worker will see a 2% deduction in their weekly pay ... which is counterproductive to their whole "limited government" battlecry.
I'm getting to the point where I don't even see the value in voting anymore. Every move made is for votes. Nothing is based on common sense and good judgment.

Term limits for the win...it should be, and never was supposed to be a career choice to be a senator or rep...
...but back to this bill, it is bigger than a tax cut...it is also about the medicare provision that cuts 27% of the funding to doctors who accept medicare...why extend that two months? what good does that do? why not get all these problems solved instead of just moving them two months? This congress reminds of Reggie Roby...fucking punting all the time

This pretty much sums it up for me. I am a conservative fiscally but center right on social issues. Does it make me a bad person?
He and Democrat and hard-core liberal Barney Frank co-sponsored a bill to end the federal ban on marijuana.
Ron Paul got the HOUSE to approve auditing the fed.
He has spoke on the house floor against every Patriot act/terrorist custody bill.
What more can you ask for? name any politicians thats tried to do more for liberty....please.....I dare you/.
Obama turned his back on 99 percent of what he promised. I was Bush's biggest critic. Im not a party player. I call it like i see. Clinton's first term was our last effective presidency. Reagan's before that. and then u had to go all the way back to eisenhower to find a good one. pull your head out of the two-party system's ass, with all due repsect
well, that bill ending the ban did not pass, so yeah,....
the house approved the audit, but when is it going to happen? is it going to happen?
unfortunately speaking against something and it stil passing is no accomplishment...
so he passed one thing. nice job... it is better than what most of the dolts in the house did this term.
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
this is an example of the games that the GOP plays. they hold one group of people hostage for political reasons so they can take care of their own supporters...
here is a short list of what he has accomplished in spite of unprescedented hatred and opposition..

"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
you're still defending the establishment...nothing will change

umm, he's as electable as Barack Obama was at this point in the game four years ago. How quick we forget. Ronald Reagan was "unelectable." Jimmy Carter was "unelectable." The White House has been filled by many "unelectable" people.
but i stand by my assertion that a paul presidency, domestically speaking, would be a disaster.
now back to the do nothing congress, has anyone heard what mccain said about the gop representatives?

Wait a second. So you judge a good congressman by how many bills he or she passes, not whether they do their job and uphold their oath to the constitution; striking down bills that are unconstitutional? If you ask me, we need less bullshit bills that nobody reads until after they are passed, not more.
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."

I'm getting to the point where I don't even see the value in voting anymore. Every move made is for votes. Nothing is based on common sense and good judgment.
We need a one-term limit and we need it now.
