Going to see them Saturday in Boston, can't wait! Is the opening band any good?

    The ultimate Tool song, imo.

The drummer I used to play with and started back up recently has a serious Danny Carey hard on and he absolutely hates trying to play it. The part that gets him is the at the break in the middle when that crazy cymbal part comes in. When we've nailed it, it's absolutely incredible.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZcTLbibLgw

Love how he winces when he hits the cymbals, and the gong smash at 45 sec.

I would say that is probably my most watched video out of everything on YouTube and I never get tired of watching it.
same here....I knew what video before clicking

I didn't get to see the opening band but the drummer of the opening band did come out and play (on his own kit) with Danny on Lateralus. This guy can play!!!!!! He is a monster!

I missed them too, though they seemed alright from the pair of YouTube videos I checked out. And the guy's drumming was awesome paired with Danny Carey.
  • Can't stop listening to 'No Quarter' right now. Just keep listening and listening to it. Over and over.

Foo Fighters 'Band on the Run' and this 'No Quarter' I speak of are quite possibly the best 2 covers ever!

Everybody always raves about that version and I like it well too but I think the studio version is sooooo much better.
  • I listen to the alt version so much less than the regular version that it makes it a really cool treat to hear it now and again. Personal opinion of course.

Its like the same goddamn song!
    Both awesome tho.

And I just put in 10,000 days for the first time in a while.
Forgot how awesome Jambi is. (I had a hard time dealing with the Floyd riff similarities when I first heard it, but the song is just so awesome, I had to get over it  ) not to mention, they kill it live.
Vicarious>Jambi is a nice one-two punch to open the album

Vicarious really makes me think you know. The lyrics are so true. It was something I didn't think about as a 13 year old until I heard that song.

Oh yeah it's fantastic. Two powerful songs into a 2 part chilling combo of Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days.

The flow is very good. It flows better than Aenima.

Flows better than Aenima??? I've always put that on par with something like Dark Side of the Moon as far as sequencing goes and I think Lateralus has a really great track order. It's something at which Tool excels, but I can't put 10k Days up with those other 2.

Mostly has to do with the "extra" tracks on there. Lipan Conjuring and Viginti Tres are garbage and I don't think Lost Keys or Intension really enhance the tracks they lead into. I just don't think they make the album better like the stuff on Aenima or Lateralus.

I think Lateralus is far superior to 10,000 days and Aenima. Aenima is certainly better than 10,000 Days but I don't think it flows well. It's just a bunch of awesome songs to me.
