    ignorance of this conflict is rampant among those that newt is courting. and it is shameful...

    i am quite sure that those people who have applauded have not followed the history of the conflict.

    actually yes they are... they were invented by those who came to the north american continent in order that they could be described as 'the other'. to conquer a people you have to distinguish them as separate to you and this is what any conquering people does. and in doing so, they invent themselves.

    when the british landed here in oz they slowly but surely wiped out the indigenous population almost to extinction where ever they could. they could not see a society like their own, they could not acknowledge that a society could be different to their own in structure and so decided in their infinite wisdom and with a sense of superiority that the indigenous were not utilising the land as they should be.. and so they took it from them. they were ignorant.
