  • I'll be needing three aswell since we're taking our 7 year old to his first PJ show. I've got some ticketmaster vouchers so might just be better to order them when they go on general sale next Friday.
  • I live in Belgium but I don't want going to the Werchter festival, I prefer going to their own show.
Amsterdam or Manchester ? I am not comfortable in the crowd... That's why I almost never participate in public shows... Is it safe in the standing floor of the Ziggo dome ? Are we really pushed or not ?
Anyway, we will see... It will be my first PJ show...It' s the opportunity that I can't pass up !

  • I live in Texas and I'm going for sure...just trying to decide which 2 shows to go to. I'm thinking Manchester and Amsterdam my PJ Travel Buddies want Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Any suggestions?

Either way, 10c Meet ups in appropriate cities are a MUST! I met SA fans this summer and can't wait to meet the rowdy European fans :D

That was my thought too... wait for general sale, but miss out on reserved seating area.

  • I just so happen to be in Amsterdam right when PJ are. How excited was I this morning, well I went nuts!

It going to be over 3,000 miles for me!
  • I will be in Amsterdam.. flying from NYC and I can't wait.

Last time I went to Europe was 2007 for Pearl Jam In The Park in Nijmegen with Kings Of Leon & Incubus.

That was an amazing show (Nothingman at Sunset is something i'll never forget)

I was contimplating going back for the 2010 show in NIjmegen, i'm so glad i didn't... that show may be the shortest PJ show of the last 10 years!

Looking forward to a true PJ gig in Amsterdam city proper.
under your tongue, im like a tab.. i will give you what your not supposed to have

in wide open spaces we sing, with strings.. launch a full on musical cannonball.. guided by bells that we bring, they ring.. sound for the sky and the sun, our own waterfall...

I'm not a frequent poster, but a big fan and keeping up to date on the forum as much as possible. Didn't have the time to respond after I heard the Europe news yesterday.

But I've been walking around with a big smile since yesterday afternoon!!! And that as being stranded on a railway station for 2 hours in windy conditions ;) Very excited to see PJ again in June 2012.

As I (luckily) renewed my membership last Monday December 5th 11:30 a.m. my time (as my membership expired December 2nd and I only saw that e-mail Monday 5th), I will be trying to buy tickets trough the Tenclub for Amsterdam for the 1st time!! Hope it works. In that case, my brother will be joining me.

For Werchter I already bought tickets today for Friday the 29th. I did have to convince my husband Johan to come with me, as I would not be able to go without him.......ON OUR 10TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!! We were thinking about throwing a small party, but that was'nt sure yet due to al kinds of uncertainties (his work). But I persuaded him last night to instead spend a day at Werchter with me and PJ headlining. Maybe PJ is willing to dedicate a song to our anniversary :P

    Can't wait till June!!!

    Love ya, Muriel

  • I don't think i'm going to able to resist the temptation of that triple-header at IOW much longer. It's a big payout just before Christmas, but Tom, PJ & Bruce? That's just too good to miss, and it's (kind of) in my backyard.

Manchester's also a possibility, but Copenhagen (again, despite the massive expense) is the real draw for me. Last time, in 2007, was just such an extraordinary experience (even if the venue is crappy) and I've never made it to a tour-closer before.

10: Dublin, Belfast, London & Berlin
    11: San José
12: Isle of Wight, Copenhagen, Ed in Manchester & London x2

I'll be going to manchester, and all the scandinavian shows. amsterdam is now looking pretty likely too. have just found out that there's a conference in germany from july 4th-6th that I may have to attend...so not sure if berlin will work out.
  • Hmm, Manchester for sure, maybe Berlin and Copenhagen. Was going to do IOW but its nearer to fly to Berlin than it is to drive to IOW and abotu half the price too. :?

Does anyone know the capacity of the Ziggo Dome?

    It says 15.600 people

    Translation by google:
    Single-purpose design, multi-use
The Ziggo Dome was designed on the principle: 'single-purpose design, multi-use'. The brief is fully tuned. It is a hall for amplified music with room for 15,600 people. At an early stage into account the multi-purpose aspects of the room. With minimal modifications, the Ziggo Dome also suitable for smaller events.
    - The Ziggo Dome is an almost closed, sleek 'Black Box' of about 90 by 90 meters with a height of 30 meters.
    - The building consists of one large room divided into six layers: a basement, ground floor and on top four floors.
    - On the ground floor are the hall floor, cloakroom and foyer. Spread over four floors, two rings with stands through stairways and elevators accessible.
    - The 'backstage' section (backstage) contains dressing rooms, offices, "star rooms, facilities, catering and storage.
    - The Ziggo Dome has a total capacity of 15,600 people.
    - The capacity of the hall floor is 6,300 people.
    - Above it the two rings with bleachers have a capacity of 4,030 and 4,470 people respectively, and 800 Member Seats.
    - In total, five years after completion of the project, more than one million visitors and over 100 events a year.
    The building
Black Box is a room specially designed for amplified music. The sound insulation reduces reverberation times to a minimum, which is a so-called "dry" acoustics feeding. Important for this are the floor and roof of the box. That floor is completely flat, lacking such ducts. On the ceiling, all required sound equipment, lighting and props are attached. The roof is so strong that even a truck could hang. The ceiling makes it, along with the movable stage, the possible space in a short time to give new form and content. Flexibility is also in the atmosphere. Black is a neutral color, with the right lighting in the room every atmosphere. The outside of the Ziggo Dome, fully furnished with LED lighting, which makes colorful, lively, hip and happening, as the experience inside will be.
    It is built!
Benthem Crouwel Architects responsible for the design of the Ziggo Dome. The total construction time is approximately twenty months. Construction has already started, the delivery is scheduled in early 2012.
When the Ziggo Dome is ready, the new entertainment district of Amsterdam all sizes to stage national and international concerts and events to offer a suitable location. Incidentally, the operation of the Ziggo Dome long before the opening day of preparation. Besides the fact that sustainable business partners have been approached and found the selling Member Seats started and catering outlets, payment and other matters are regulated facility. The entire organization is structured, from standard business contracts for on-the-job training of employees. Mojo Concerts is responsible for international artists and providing a full house.
2012, a new chapter in music history!

I'm going to Amsterdam for sure, still deciding between Werchter and Arras. I'm not really the huge festival kind of person but everyone's been telling me Werchter is better.... It's closer to me and would be easier, but if Arras will be the better experience with less people then I guess I should go there. Bah, decisions, decisions...!!

Planning Manchester and Amsterdam. May look at the festivals at a later date.

Just so I got it right, 9am PST on the 13th of December is 4am on Wednesday the 14th in Melbourne (EDT). Seems right to me, anyone disagree?
