i'm about 2/3 through listening to the show now. this was my 5th show to that point (hartford made 6 woohoo) this is a very close second to montreal last sept. i do think albany was a better setlist but, montreal was the BEST crowd i've ever been a part of. these 2 shows back to back was a great experience. bring on boston!
Back in Brooklyn now after toronto 2/albany... I can't explain how it feels.. I'll try. I'm different some how. I'm an old lady with a husband/baby/career, and I'm following this band around (well, 5 shows) like a dead head. And now after these past 2 (same post on toronto 5/10 thread) I'm introspective - feeling like I need to satisfy my creativity. I've gotten caught up in this great life and forgot that my soul needs to be soothed and inspired. And oh, my, god, am I inspired.
You've read all the great moments, the solos, the tunes... but I must say that after hum... 15? shows since '95... I'm in awe. These guys are so talented, so much fun.
In toronto I was front row. FRONT FUCKING ROW. Right in front of Mike. 10C, I love you. I was with my husband and surrounded by awesome people (Brian/Michelle, Oliver/Evie) and we danced our asses off. My throat was so sore that my 9 month old daughter didn't recognize me when I got home, my calves were so tight that I couldn't walk the next 2 days, and I have random bruises all over my body. I think I was possessed. Someone mentioned that it felt like a living room? My god, with only security in front of me, it felt like I was in their rehearsal space! And security up front was amazing. (Rocket, hats off to you my friend for treating those guys with so much respect. Thank you - remember to watch Little Einsteins!) Ed passed his wine our way, I'd like to think to me, but that's selfish I did grab it first because I'm a germafobe and normally wouldn't swill from a random's bottle, but like I said, I was possessed. It was lovely wine, actually. But I could've drank anything at that point, I was so thirsty. But I digress. Everyone around us said the show was so much better than night 1, we didn't go. All I know is that they were explosive, tight, amazing, and just, well, happy to be there. As was I. Thanks from the bottom of my heart (Holy Crap!) Toronto-ians are a wonderful people to see the show with. I did feel terrible though when the cab driver put down our country on the way to the airport, terrible because I couldn't agree more.
So I figured Albany would be a great show, that my seats wouldn't be as great being in my home state, but that the magic of toronto was solely due to my front row-ness. Surprise surprise.... I had 3rd row in front of Stone and the people in front of me didn't rock out (how some could not feel it is beyond me), so I had a 'front row view'. I brought one of my best friends who hadn't seen PJ since Jones Beach, and never a show from up close. He's a changed boy. OK, so again, the set, the moments, etc... one I'd like to point out that I had Rats written on my arm and it was played. Am I the freak? I hope so! ....here's what the night was... the night (as in all pearl jam shows, I've come to realize) is comparable to a big orgy. Seriously... down there, in the closeness of the band, with the amps beating music in our hearts, our energy swirls up in the air and mingles with the music, and flirts with all the other energy until it's this explosive give and take. The band must feel it. I know I give everything I have to these shows, throw it out and up because it's contagious to feel that good without any chemicals. After every song, I'm catching my breath, my knees are shaking, my heart and mind are pure childish exhiliration. It's a private ride, shared with strangers whom you may never see again, but leave feeling like you are a part of (including the group).
OK, sorry for the flourishes. It's late and I'm waiting for my boots to download, and tomorrow is back to the routine. I just wanted to share these thoughts before they fade, before subway rush hour and pushy marketing people steal my energy and keep it. Luckily I have Philly and the 2 NJ shows to look forward to. Pearl Jam/10C, you are amazing. I'm forever your girl.

I flew in from Portland to catch the show on my B-day with my buddies from high school. Great Set, but the crowd could have been better I agree... Ive looked around and I can't find a torrent for the show... any suggestions???... also as I head back to portland any rummors floating around about a show there...
And to be honest, if you were at that last Albany Show in 2003, you were probably a little worried about the length of the show -
Wow - the band sure made up for that!
Hearing Wish List for me was totally wonderful and unexpected - don't think it's been played much in the recent shows and off the new Album, "Marker in the Sand" and "Come Back" - ??? My two favs... wow. I couldn't stand still the entire show - being right up, center, on the floor with an aisle seat so I could get a great view of the whole band was awesome.
Ed was completely engaging - the whole band looked like they were having a great time - and I have to to say, the Pepsi is not a bad place at all to see a show - it's fairly big without being huge - and still has a feeling of intimacy.
Can't wait for the next show I'm going to - so - who's going to NJ, first night???
Speaking of length of show...did anyone happen to mention what time PJam left the stage? I remember Eddie saying something like, "Is it Saturday yet?" It felt like they played for 3 hours, but I'm guessing they left the stage about 11:30pm or so? What a phenomenal show...crowd was really into it.

Well, all I can say, is that I was not surprised.!!!
I expected a good show, and it was.
Seats were great, thanks 10c. section 105 bb mikes side. Just above the crowd on the floor. No beer though after the band started.
Great time at the fund raiser.
Met Jimmy from Long Island, "fuck Yashin, lollllllllllll"
Met Michelle from, Albany I think.
Met a couple from Atlantic city, and also from Florida.
Thanks guys from Holyhoke, had a great time.
Met a guy from Brazil. Wow.
Its something, to go to a show, and enjoy the band and music.
Its also alot of fun meeting fans from allover the place.
Pear Jam rocks.
Peace everyone.
After listening to Porch again, it was fucking epic. I need to hit some more shows.

Completely agree with everyone so far...an unbelievable show. But I have a funny story that happened just before the show:
Myself and three friends came in from Boston and had a room reserved at the Crown Plaza. We all had to work that day but were able to get on the road by 4:15. Not nearly early enough but the best we could do. After a miserable ride, we valet the car at around 7:30. Now, we get into the elevator (just the four of us) on our way to the 13th floor where our room was. Now...the elevator stops at the 10th floor where a bellhop gets on with some luggage...one piece being a guitar case!! One of my buddies cracks a joke...something like "you better hury up and get that over to the pepsi...the boyz are gonna need that soon!!" The guy looked at us like we had three heads. But then, we notice a tag on on of the bags...it reads "Ament". We almost lost it. The guy gets off the elevator at the 11th and one of my friends follows him for a ways...trying not to be weird. We wind up getting a general vicinity of where the bags went.
Long story short...there we were at 5 AM on the 11th floor of the crown plaza standing in that same general vicinity whispering, "Jeff, you're awesome man...if you can hear us, we just want you to know how you've influenced our lives, etc...let us in so we can party!!"
Set List: Wasted Reprise, Life Wasted, World Wide Suicide, Severed Hand, Do The Evolution, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Given To Fly, Red Mosquito, Even Flow, Army Reserve, Daughter/Another Brick In The Wall, Off He Goes, Gone, Grievance, Jeremy, Marker In The Sand, Comatose, Why Go
1st encore: You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, Satan's Bed, Wishlist, Rats, Porch
2nd encore: Last Kiss, Come Back, Sad, Crazy Mary, Alive
Satan's Bed!
Did they mess it up completely like at State College?

Nice story! My brother and I were on the 11th floor (had room 1101) and blasted "Pearl Jam" most of the afternoon. Everytime we left the room, the halls were empty though. Would have been awesome to bump into one of the guys.
Hail, hail the lucky ones, i refer to those in love.
Drove all the way from Hartford and this was my fourth time watching The JAM, which was indeed nasty. Maybe because it early on the tour, or the first US show on the official tour, but the band really brought it tonight. Lots of energy, and really good jams. Far better than Albany in 03, and probably the best I seen of the four.
The setlist was incredible, with some rarities thrown in, with "Hide your love away" and "Rats" at the top of my list. Fan club hooked me up with great seats, about 25th row, dead center, and I was psyched.
My morning jacket was really good too, but not a lot of people there though. They are very good, as I was blown away by them in Hartford 2 years ago, and was looking forward to their set. I think it really kicked off the night for me in agreat direction. Should not be missed, but lot's of people did. Get there early and enjoy a good that gets it going really well.
Gone did it for me.......but I hear ya......you can't beat a 12 minute version of Porch
This show was great in all respects from the opener, to the mix of the old, new and rare. Without question one of the better PJ shows Ive seen.
Only complaint is that its time for a PA upgrade in Albany, sound could have been better
Gone was good as well. Everything was brilliant, I listened to the show in class today and wow. Slightly edging out Ottawa right now.

alive was freakin awesome. great to hear stone slap his balls out on the table like that. interesting night indeed, they are building me up pretty high, the 27th gets farther away everyday...
It was a great show...they were on fire that night. I got to hear a lot of songs that I haven't heard ever...Red Mosquito, Off He Goes, Porch...very awesome show....

Albany was great.....made the 5 hour trek down from Ottawa with my wife (her first concert). She is not the biggest fan and thinks my obsession is a little weird but I saw her shaking it to some songs I didn't expect her too....I will turn her to the dark side yet.
The setlist was great. I always have a mental list of songs that I have not seen live (even though this was only my fourth show). As with every show I seem to get two of them taken off the list. This show was no different. I can scratch Red Mosquito and You've Got To Hide Your Love Away and to have Satan's Bed and Rats thrown in....icing on the cake. They also played my current two faves from the new album....Gone and Marker In The Sand.
It is a toss up between Albany and Ottawa'05 as my favourite but to have been at both is just fine with me.
Cheers,
Canadian Jammer
It makes much more sense to live......in the present tense.
I made the trek down from Ottawa with my family as well. It was my moms first show (I'm 15) and my 2ond. It was well worth it.

Yeah Albany...thru the 5/22 show, we're the only show that didn't end in Yellow Ledbetter...I guess that's not good (b/c it's a great song) but at least we're standing out!!
YL is a great show ender, but I think Alive is a great way to end a show, all the audiences arms being thrust into the air, shouting the "Yeah's" at the end of the song. What a great way to send us away, telling us, and we telling them, that we are all still Alive!

TenClubNut,
You'll be bummin' about this post, but the guys left Crown Plaza and booked rooms in Saratoga...apparantly the wives were complaining that people were constantly knocking on their doors, bugging them to the point that they all left.
I happened to run into Mr. Jeff Ament in a deli the next day in Saratoga and asked him what he was doing in Saratoga...and that's what he told me!!
I've been walking on air ever since meeting the guy.
Oh, and Albany was a great show as I've yet to be to a less than steller PJ show! And I had Crazy Mary in my head the day before the show; I was happily surprised when they played it.
People in the message pit forums have already referred to this show as the best show of the tour thus far, primairly because of the set list, a good balance of new songs, popular songs, and rarities! The arena was packed to the rafters, including behind the stage seats, and the fans, just as Pearl Jam, "had their game on"!
The opening combo of Life Wasted Reprise/Life Wasted fit like a glove, as it should! Right from the first song off the new album, and you have to remember the album came out less than two weeks before this show, I couldn't believe how many people knew the words to be singing along word for word! I wasn't surprised to hear them open with a few songs from the new album, as they did when I saw them a week ago at Irving Plaza (which was an amazing experience). The big surprise was to hear them play Do The Evolution so early in the setlist (but boy did that whip the crowd into a frenzy early)! Later in the main set, Red Mosquito was a treat, it sounded spectacular with Mike wailing on his guitar! Army Reserve sounded great (although I think they played it better at Irving Plaza), and was receieved very well! The tag of Another Brick In The Wall after Daughter, got everyone in the crowd singing along! Off He Goes sounded so crisp, and sharp, followed by Gone, which I personally love, and was glad I got to hear at both Irving Plaza and Albany (as well as Come Back)! Jeremy seemed to be a crowd pleaser, as everyone knows this song! Comatose, which I consider a modern version of Spin The Black Circle really got the Ten Club Fans, like myself, in a frenzy!!
For the first song, of the first encore, Eddie treated us to a solo of You Got To Hide Your Love Away, made complete by him playing the harmonica (I thought it was nearly as good as when he did this last time playing Madison Square Garden, and that was amazing). The reaction the band got from the Ten Club Fans when they played Satan's Bed was truly awesome, this hasn't been played in a long time! But the reaction of the entire crowd when they played "Rats" (for the "home team" as Eddie said before playing it) surpassed that! Closing the first encore was an amazing ten plus minute rendition of Porch, which featured Mike going off on his guitar!
Beginning the second encore, they turned around and faced the fans that were seated behind them and played Last Kiss for them (I thought that was cool as hell)! Next the band turned back around and played Come Back (which is close to if not my favorite song on the new album), and you could tell everyone in the arena could feel the passion in Eddie's voice! Then wham, another semi-rarity, Sad, which you could tell all the Ten Club Fan Member's really enjoyed!! Followed by Crazy Mary, which featured Boom tonight, was awesome but I really like it better when Mike and Boom jam back and forth! Lastly Alive as the closer, which I don't even need to go into how the entire crowd reacted, because anyone whose ever gone to a Pearl Jam show knows!! After Alive they left the stage but it seemed as though they were going to play another song, because the lights remained off for a long time! I didn't mind Alive as a closer, was actually nice to hear something different than Yellow Ledbetter (even though I love the song, it's just that I've heard this as the closer to many shows I've seen). The show lasted well over two hours, I'd say that's truly getting your moneys worth!! I managed to get a setlist, so I was extremely happy (got a pic from Mike at the Irving Plaza show), but we won't talk about how!!
After the show, the fans were going nuts in the streets!! The volume of the noise they were making, including me, with chants of "Pearl Jam", as well as just plain old screaming "Yeah"! Overall this show does ranking up there with some of their better ones, note I didn't say best! The energy of both the band and the crowd, as well as the awesome setlist made for an amazing show!! I can tell everyone left this show thoroughly pleased, and all of us Ten Club Fans can't wait to get the boot, as well as another performance during this tour. As any Pearl Jam show, an experience never to forget!!
Peace and keep on rocking with Pearl Jam,
OTTONYP
Yeah Albany...thru the 5/22 show, we're the only show that didn't end in Yellow Ledbetter...I guess that's not good (b/c it's a great song) but at least we're standing out!!
I like all Pearl Jam songs, but it's great to close out the show with something different, no? I don't feel this was a "bad" thing at all.
"Chesty. Our last word to you tonight." Eddie -Pepsi Arena, Albany, NY May '06
This was one of the three best shows i have seen them play. The new stuff sounded great, we got a great mix of old stuff, a few rarities, RED MOSQUITO! i almost shit myself when they played Satan's Bed, Rats was a dream come true, its great to see them bring this gem back. ROCK ON GUYS!

Let's see about Hartford !!!

Cheers,

TenClubNut,
You'll be bummin' about this post, but the guys left Crown Plaza and booked rooms in Saratoga...apparantly the wives were complaining that people were constantly knocking on their doors, bugging them to the point that they all left.
Peace and keep on rocking with Pearl Jam,
OTTONYP
I like all Pearl Jam songs, but it's great to close out the show with something different, no? I don't feel this was a "bad" thing at all.
