QUESTION: What is the difference between Record of The Year and Album of the Year?

    Anyone?
Record of the Year is for the recording of a single song. Album of the Year is for an album of songs. For Record of the Year the performer wins the award whereas the Song of the Year goes to the songwriter.

    Ah THANK YOU!!!
No problem. Record/album are often used interchangeably. In this case, it can be a bit confusing.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

What the hell was up with the Whitney Houston tribute? I thought Jennifer Hudson was supposed to be some amazing singer. She sounded like a dude.

I was back and forth so I didn't see most of it...but I did get to see Adele, and she was incredible.

She was. Not a fan of the Rolling in the Deep song, but her other stuff is very likeable. No frills, no choreography, just her on stage singing into a mic. You gotta appreciate that.
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

and that was the song I was hoping she would sing. But yeah, alot of her stuff is good. She seems like a class act. And I couldn't get over that looonng ovation. woow.
  • aside from all of the great things already said about Adele, ... here's a true artist who doesnt use twitter or any other social media to exploit herself as a look at me celebrity. Of course her label & management use it for news and updates etc but point being she is being recognized and selling albums because of her true genuine talent.
her performance last night was a testament to that and it was so great to see someone win bc of her talent, great songs and a great record. i think everyone there appreciated that and it gives a sense of relief in a way that this can still be the case.

  • Not sure if anyone caught Sexual Chocolate's Whitney Houston tribute performance last night. If you didn't see it, you missed the best performance of the night.

That's a shame. I could think of a couple of performances that deserved to be dropped in favor of this.

Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj for starters.

    This was kinda funny.
At last night's Grammy Awards (February 12), deadmau5 showed up wearing his signature giant mouse head, but the Canadian dance guru also known as Joel Zimmerman was wearing another, even more hilarious article of clothing: a T-shirt emblazoned with Skrillex's personal phone number.

Deadmau5, who was up against Skrillex in several categories (Best Dance Recording, Best Dance/Electronica Album, Best Remixed Recording Non-Classical), pranked the rising dubstep star by wearing a shirt that read "(626) 319-1039 u mad bro?"

Deadmau5 tweeted a picture of the shirt and wrote, "But @skrillex , doesn't mean you're safe from getting the ultimate mau5 trolling experience :) prepare! ;) hahaha love u!"

Evidently the pair have a healthy rivalry going on, since Zimmerman subsequently wrote, "Nice try with the call forwarding @skrillex ;) one step ahead of you! Ps. Congrats dude! Seriously, so rad!"

So evidently deadmau5 isn't too bitter that Skrillex beat him in all three categories they faced off in.

If you were planning to phone Skrillex's number, we're sorry, because many people already beat you to it, and all you'll get is a full voicemail inbox.

Kanye West is a fucking piece of shit. I hate everything about him. His wife is a prostitute. He has no talent. He cannot sing. He doesn't play an instrument. He had a couple popular songs in the early 2000's. Fuck him!!!!!! Go away!!!!!!!

^^^^^^100%! Guys a clown. Talking shit about beck. How many producers and song writers does beyounce have? And yet someone like beck who writes his own music doesn't deserve to win album of the year? I don't listen to beck but I have more respect for him then I'll ever have for that dumbshit.

Edit-and yes, his wife is a high priced call girl

  • One of the best South Park eps in recent years.

And yeah man, College Dropout and Late Registration were unbelievable albums, but dude.... This is just getting ridiculous every time he opens his mouth. I literally thought this was an Onion article when I saw it this morning. It just makes no sense.

The best part is who the hell even cares about Grammys anyway? Beck probably couldn't give two shits.

I don't think Kanye was wrong (well rushing the stage, but not the comments being reported). The Grammys rarely reward forward thinking music. In this particular case, the Beyonce album was indeed the best and the most progressive. That's to say nothing of the impact it had when it dropped.
