I was reading about that in the fan review of the show.
I really wanted someone to post pictures of all the great bootleg goods.
Please post pics of what you got. :)

I knew I should've taken some pics of it! That bootleg merchandising is about the coolest thing you can ever find. Every concert in Mexico features hundreds of cool items!

I didn't take pics from this, but go to 1:39:18 in the following video:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/MetallicaLi ... zuSR_JJWJc

It's Metallica's, but the merchandising is similar and the flea market is pretty much the same, just adapting itself to the band in turn. :)

Hopefully someone did take some cool pics!

The Rob posted up some awesome shit. Illegal or not... There was stuff at the show infinitely better then 90% of the stuff in here. Just being honest.... If reach out to some of those people down there to get them inboard.

Did you see that they already have the Critical KRASS t-shirt?

I'm amazed how fast they reproduce (illegally) the merch.

but yes, they have tons of merch and at a very good price
  • It was definitely overwhelming! I picked up some shirts, a hoodie, a scarf, a license plate frame, keychains, mugs, pens, wristbands, just about anything I thought I could stuff into my luggage on the flight home. Just curious, what happens to the stuff that didn't sell? I regret not picking up one of those pillows!

Now I wish I was in mexico city even more!
I would love to see more merch at shows besides the regular line up of shirts, hats, hoodies....
how about a fleece blanket?? I'd buy a couple.

    Pillows??
    Makes much more sense...

I asked the guys selling stuff last time Rammstein was in town, and they told me that when the band is touring the country (most bands touch Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey) they take the stuff to the other cities. Whatever is left, some sellers take it to another well known weekend flea market called "el Chopo"; leftovers without dates are sold in other shows. Others simply told me they were just employees and whatever was left they returned to whoever the "owner" is.

Maybe others do something different with their stuff; I still believe some items go to waste though.

I know a place that has all the leftovers (not the "El Chopo" flea market). If you want I can go there and see if they still have pillows.

This is paradise for me  I've seen similar shit in Italy but this way bigger and more items.

Paradise? It's all bootlegged stuff man. They are all selling / making profit using someone's image without any official consent. Why is it OK for them to sell these products on the street (especially @ this flea market) but if people here in Canada & USA make / sell a single shirt or poster, all hell breaks loose from Pearl Jam Co? I don't understand.

    Bingo!!!

I agree with you Demetrios, 100%.

Thing is nobody "knows" who allows this and who makes them. Grupo CIE is the company who manages all the venues and sells all the tickets in Mexico (ticketmaster partner in Mexico) for every show.

Someone once told me that Grupo CIE is the one that allows this; they even make those products. They do this for ANY type of show (music shows, WWE, NFL preseason games, NBA games, Cirque du soleil, etc, you name it)

I avoid buying anything from those merch stands. It is illegal.

But from a foreigner point of view it is something new. You don't have this in your country. Also, sometimes, they even have better stuff than the official merch stands and cheaper. Mexico is not a healthy country and that's why people prefer buying from this merch stands (they save some money).

I think it would be a slow and costly process for Pearl Jam Co to try to avoid this. Even mexican artists know this and do nothing about it.

And I posted this on the Mexico City Fanviews thread:

In 2003 Eddie himself got out of the venue and bought that illegal merch on such merch stands. During the concert, Sleater Kinney girls were wearing some of those t-shirts.

This time, it was Eddie body guard the one doing the shopping in those merch stands

because in mexico if you pay off the cops, you can do what you please.

    My butt itches!
  • It is awesome to see that much PJ merch in one place like that even if it is all bootleg. But it is crazy that they get away with it.

If I were there, I would have bought stuff.

I buy plenty of authorized merch....the band makes plenty of money off of me.
Maybe if PJ had something other than tshirts, hoodies and hats to sell at shows, this wouldnt be as much of an issue. The license plate frames, wristbands, bracelets, mugs....all things that if they were sold on pj.com, I would buy them.

USA & Can are legal countries, you can't do this kind of shit and no way PJ lawyer would go at flea market in Mexico and bother with this, this is huge, it's bigger then a PJ, you just can't win here.
I mean you have same stuff in Italy and they are part of EU and they do all the time this kind of illegal market for every freaking band that comes to play there and I love it.
I know it's illegal and non official, but that wouldn't stop me to buy tonnes of shit.
I support and I buy all stuff from 10c and from official merch at the venue but this is great too, I really don't care ;)

    I agree
They made a official bootlegs so we don't need to buy them of the street anymore and they won that game, now to win the war they have to make all this crazy official merch :lol::lol:

They can get a lot of ideas of that flea market ;)
