Much better after I confronted and just asked my health care provider if they got their medical license to practice out of a cracker jack box, after being misdiagnosed and inappropriately treated for it.

That happened to me about a year and a half ago. I knew they were wrong to begin with so I got a second opinion right away. It's so upsetting.
Same here, I made a demand for a referral to see a specialist after the first idiot kept prescribing antibiotics because she thought I had a bladder infection, even though I kept insisting it didn't feel like that, then after seeing the urologist I am scheduled for a biopsy in about a week for bladder cancer due to a lesion that was seen in my bladder.
Woah. Thank goodness you insisted to see the specialist. You are in my thoughts.

Thank you! I thought about keeping this private, but had second thoughts because I want to raise awareness about the discrepancy between men and women on how this is approached after reading some medical journals addressing this very issue and my own experience. Many times women are not properly diagnosed until the bladder cancer is far more advanced due to some health professionals not appropriately recognizing the symptoms in women and jumping to the conclusion that it is an UTI. When a man presents to a clinic with blood in their urine it is far more investigated as to the cause. When I presented to the clinic with blood in my urine, twice and even though I gave them six urine samples in total that kept coming back negative for infection, (there wasn't a high or abnormal white cell count present),my clinic kept prescribing antibiotics. I had to call them and advocate for myself and demand under no uncertain terms that I need a referral for an urologist. After seeing this specialist, and having a cystoscopy, the bladder lesion was seen, indicating possible CIS bladder cancer and that is why I have a biopsy surgery scheduled in a little over a week. When I went to my pre-op physical yesterday, I confronted them about this and told them that I plan on changing their protocol on how this is approached starting at the top with their health care director, since it should have been an automatic referral after the negative white cell counts. I consider myself fortunate that the specialist caught this early enough, increasing my chances of survival, many women are unfortunately not due to this frequent oversight.....

All the best to you OMGkatwoman. I hope the lesion isn't malignant, and if it is, hope it is CIS rather than more widely spread. It sounds like your efforts and persistence have gotten you the care you need - I'm so glad you didn't let it go, too.

Thank you. That was very brave of you to share this experience. It is amazing how often doctors just ho hum their way into a diagnosis. I'm going through the same thing with my Nueropathy. There is something NOT right.. But my current doctor isn't 'paying attention' to what I'm describing feeling. So I'm going for second opinion. The truth is, we know our own bodies best.. Doctors are great.. Until they think they knowYOUR body better than you. Glad you got this sorted Kat, and you're in my prayers! Hugs. Thanks for being so brave and sharing this with us. I hope it helps the next person going through this.

Thank you WH! I also will keep you in my thoughts and hope that the next doctor listens... really listens to you and your neuropathy is properly addressed and treated, you are wise to seek a second opinion!

Annoyed. At dealership and there is one chair in waiting room with an outlet by it and the lady sitting in it is reading. So all of us with dying devices are staring her down. I'm also annoyed with myself for not bringing a book and not fully charging my phone.

Jeezus katwoman that is one hell of a story and I thank you for sharing. I read something not long ago about this very subject - only it was focused on heart health I think - when women present to their doctors with certain symptoms it's often attributed to anxiety instead of actual symptoms, a phenomenon that does not with men. I applaud you for standing up for yourself and demanding you be referred to a specialist. It took me a couple years to get to a specialist about my "ankle" though it was partly because I had never heard of a physiatrist before and neither did anyone else I knew. They all thought I was going to see a shrink. Once I did though I was diagnosed with a whole plethora of problems that had me running around to everyone who'd expressed doubt about my injuries screaming I TOLD YOU SO.
I wish you all the best katwoman

OMGKat...so sorry you had to go through all that to finally get answers! Some doctors are so jaded and I swear they are on autopilot. Glad you finally are getting somewhere!

PJSiren, you'll be fine. 'just breathe' (see what I did there?!!?!?) and tell yourself you'll be fine. I have faith in you that you will coast through it with no issues. Sending you good luck vibes!

Yeah, I actually got an interview guide from another coworker with examples of the questions they ask, so I can go through that tonight, and I'll feel better I think...I just get so nervous...I am however, relieved it's my buddy Jess interviewing me and not our big boss Steve....who makes me very nervous...lol

Is Kielbasa the same thing as a smoked sausage? or are they different? I love smoked sausage, not sure if I've ever had Kielbasa or not though...I know there is a brand of smoked sausage I buy at the store and they also sell a Kielbasa, so I'm just curious, how different are they?

I don't think I've ever had smoked sausage, so I'm afraid I couldn't really say. It's probably the same thing cuz the kielbasa is smoked, and it is in fact, a sausage. We eat it cold though. I've never heard of any other sausage being eaten cold. My knowledge of meats is pretty limited and I only get the kielbasa for Easter. I actually prefer Irish sausage to any other kind.
If the supermarket brand you're thinking of is Hillshire Farm then it's different. I'm not really sure how to explain it properly, but that stuff is more like hot dogs than what you get from the butcher.

The difference between a kielbasa and a sausage is the cuts of meat involved and the spices. HF Kielbasa sucks! Other than that one difference it's virtually the same thing.

Sad. Just got home with baby girl (my 6 year old daughter Lacey) who has a raging ear infection. We have seen the doctor, given her tylenol, advil, and antibiotics so all I can do is play with her hair to try and get her to relax for the tylenol and advil to kick in. She is just sitting here whimpering asking me to make it stop hurting. Its breaking my heart into pieces as there isnt much else I can do as she rejected a hot compress to try and get some of the pressure out.
