I'm sick of hearin people on here call anyone with a differing opinion a TROLL.
Usamamasan isn't a fucking troll- How about disagreeing and providing some evidence of why- instead of name-calling and attacking?
NEWT KICKED ASS LAST NIGHT IN THE DEBATE. HE OWNED PAUL, TOWERED OVER PERRY AND CAIN, AND STOOD HIS GROUND W/ ROMNEY.
NEWT IN 2012. Lookin good!
I differ with a lot of the same people you do and never get called a troll. I wonder if it is because of HOW you disagree rather than THAT you disagree.
but then again, you don't really care for my opinion anyway
Newt is an interesting candidate. i want to believe that he has changed in the decades when he was in congress. He really used to be a bit of a monster. I just hope that there aren't any skeletons in the closet worse than what we already know. I do like how he handles the criticism of his past indiscretions...head on and taking the blame like he should. That is easy to say and very hard to do so I commend him for that.
Also liked hearing the comments on Iran. Bombing should be last resort and only if we want a regime change. Which I don't think he would advocate. It is nice when the adults in the room get a chance to talk. Although I am not sure how he owned Paul

uhhh ... i watched a lot of that debacle they called a "debate" last nite ... newt wasn't even paying attention at some time ... "what was the question?" ... "how much time do i have?" ...
most of his answers were preambles that never really answered the question but that was the case for most of the nominees ...
Actually, his answers were extremely specific. Something that the others are having trouble with: actually saying WHAT they would do IF elected.
His asking Wolf about the rules wasn't confusion, it was a slap at the debate hosts, and there drama-inducing format designed to create "fireworks".
Newt in 2012. Im on board. He'd stomp Obama in a debate.
He said he was not advocating revamping child labor laws or suggesting children drop out of school to become janitors. "I'm talking about working 20 hours a week and being empowered to succeed."
NEWT
umm.....Where are you getting that quote from? It's not in the article you posted. In fact, none of this drivel about putting kids to work is.....How is he not advocating revamping child labor laws? Read:
Speaking at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, the Republican presidential candidate and former speaker of the House challenged laws that prevent children from working certain jobs before their mid-teens.
Gingrich blames “the core policies of protecting unionization and bureaucratization" for “crippling” children.
“It is tragic what we do in the poorest neighborhoods, entrapping children in, first of all, in child laws, which are truly stupid,” he said
So wtf…. This could not be done without revamping the laws. So he’s either advocating changing the laws, or he's blowing hot air. Either way, it's a completely ridiculous suggestion, and anyone who supports it is a completely ridiculous fool....he's attempting to divide and irritate people just to get attention...(trolling). Sound familiar?
Why is it so hard for some to understand. Reformimg the child labor laws TO ALLOW CHILDREN TO WORK AT A YOUNGER AGE IF THEY WANT TO.
Many inner-city children could earn money at a part-time job starting when they are 12 or 13. These children are the product of state-sponsored families, i.e welfare recipient, single-parent homes, etc., and could greatly benefit from the opportunity.
But some here just speak, without EVER listening first.
And some on here harbor real HATE for anyone who advocates self-reliance and responsibilities.
No. Because I didn't author the fucking cartoon, but I suspect they aren't there because they are a nomadic tribe without a homeland who's "plight" rarely enters the mind.... just a thought.

A nomadic tribe? Is that how you also described the Jews who were driven from their homes by the Nazis and transported across Europe to death camps? Were they also nomads in your scheme of things?
Also, why did you put the word 'plight' in quotation marks? Is that an attempt to bait me?
what does newt do for the environment? someone who knows please post a link about what newt stands for in regards to this planet. thank you.
safe to say that none of the GOP nominees would do much for the environment ...
as some of you here may know i am not into politics like most of y'all are. in fact it drives me bat shit crazy. but it is real and we as citizens need to study up on this stuff and get our votes out there.
what the fuck is the GOP? what the fuck is "the right" and "the left?" weeks ago i asked a friend, friend, what is the GOP. they replied, "chad my friend, GOP stands for the Grand Old Party."
i still have no fucking idea what that entails. call me an idiot if you like. i will not report you to ed's event staff here on the message board.
i am sorry i just find politics stuffy, complex, shit-filled, corrupt, uninteresting, and the list goes on to be quite lengthy.

I actually read your posts, bc they are intelligent. I don't think others here read them all, bc they are usually long, and a little over the collective head of most. IMO. However, I enjoy what you say more when you don't open w/ elitist-sounding insults lobbed down from your lofty perch, since you brought it up.
So... lets discuss the topic, instead of eachother...
Newt "owned" Paul on the Patriot Act question/ rebuttal, IMO
My wife loves Ron Paul- we DVR'd the damn thing and watched it all- quite an exchange, and Paul was doing well- but when Newt countered w/ "Timothy McVeigh succeeded. That's the point.", it was a strong moment for him.

dude ... politics is all that and more ... in fact - i would suggest you not read more because it will make you very angry ...
but also like you said - a lot of the shit stems from having a weak democracy which means the citizens who are cornerstones of any democracy are not participating either through voting or engagement or knowledge ...

i try to wanna learn more and get more involved but i am bored with it. i was always taught to vote and do my homework on the folks running. these people drive me nuts and so do the news channels. most of the news channels i find to be filled with bullshit artists and fake cocksuckers. sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between a news broadcaster and a politician.

You didn't answer my question.
Do you think you can post filthy racist comments here and then play the victim card? You said the Palestinians are nomads, and you put the word 'plight' in quotation marks. Why was that? Are you baiting me?
Unfortunately, when the trolls hijack every thread with lame comments and silly photo's designed merely to insult and bait people, while feeding bigotry and racism, it's difficult to ignore them.

"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
Actually, I tried applying for part time jobs - they wouldn't hire me because they said that a person with my qualifications would not be happy doing the work and that I would leave as soon as the economy improved. Which, let's face it...was absolutely true.
I know several professional people in Atlanta who have been turned down for jobs at places like Target for this reason...after a 25 year career at IBM that ended with layoff due to offshoring.
I was one of the lucky ones - I was able to get a bit of contract work here and there - which is how I survived for 16 months. But contract work is only a few weeks here and there...with no health insurance or anything like that attached. Finally, my COBRA (which I was paying for myself) from IBM ran out...and I HAD to get a job with some sort of insurance...or risk losing everything I owned should I become ill.
Thus, the 5,000 mile move back to Anchorage.
Fortunately, some old and VERY dear friends of mine up here took me in until I was able to get re-established in Anchorage. If it wasn't for these friends, I never would have been able to move back here to get work - and I'd still be sitting, unemployed, in a house that I can not even sell to save myself, in Atlanta...going through my 401(k) and emailing my resume into black hole after black hole...and calling recruiters every day, begging them to put me in for anything - right on down to an accounts payable clerk....just to get a job. ANY job.
I would not wish what I was going though on ANYONE. And that Newt and his ilk would just blow it off, like we did it to ourselves because we have not taken 'personal responsibility' is one of the most heartlessly reprehensible positions I have ever heard of. Before this recession, I was financially stable with about 35%+ equity in my home, a nice savings account, a 401(k), and little debt (not even a car payment). Now, I have about maxed out the one credit card I had (I didn't like credit cards and kept this one only for emergencies), own a home that I cannot get out of and which it seems I can't even rent out (been trying - so far, no luck. Housing in Atlanta has a 23% vacancy rate), and live in a small apartment, 5,000 miles away from that 3 story home.....all so I could get a job. I'm living on rice, spaghetti, and PB&J, can count on one hand the number of restaurant meals I've had since I got here 7 weeks ago, and only recently 'treated myself' to my first 'fun' purchase in several months....and feel guilty as hell about even that! I had no Christmas in 2010...and will not have one in 2011. There is no money for it. Black Friday, to me, may as well be going on on another planet, it is now such a foreign concept. I barely even remember anymore what it is like to be able to spend money without worrying about every nickle.
If I was not lucky enough to have some old friends here in Alaska who are extremely generous, I would be beyond screwed. Because the cold hard truth is that I am pretty much a refugee, at this point - a refugee with CPA after her name and a long, solid career behind her in the international accounting firms and Fortune 500 companies. A refugee from Newt's former congressional district of Cobb County, Georgia. Where even those who have 'taken personal responsibility' their entire lives and have always lived well within their means are...well...fucked.
Newt is an out-of-touch heartless bastard. Of that much, I am certain.
i find it interesting that none of the so called conservatives here have commented on your story ... the fact that it pretty much debunks their ideals is likely the reason but i thought someone would offer some insight ...
all the while i'm guessing the senior execs at your old job didn't get laid off and likely got bonuses for making your job redundant ...

I can see what you mean about it being a strong moment...but I guess it is in how you look at it...sure some will succeed, you cannot have thought police or more appropriately the tom cruise minority report (wow second tom cruise reference this week...yikes) police. I think Paul is right when he says that it is a dangerous thing to give up liberty in the name of security.

I like Pauls view on foreign policy, but I'm not in line with his more libertarian views. Watching that debate last night was scary.
MikePegg: I can't figure out the damn quote button once it goes over 3 quotes.
I actually admire Paul's tenacity on the subject- he IS right, but Mitt and Newt were right as well. It is a fine line, and in the specifics of the law, we, like Newt and Paul, would probably come down on different sides on some things.
Paul's reference to sacrificing liberty for security was a Ben Franklin quote," Those who would sacrifice (or trade) their liberty for security, deserve neither." I've always liked that quote, and you and Paul are correct that the Patriot Act does open that door. I guess the question is do we trust our gov't to be responsible in doing that, and not taking it too far.... Oh shit. i think I just talked myself out of supporting the Patriot Act.

debunks conservative ideals? how?
a person wanted to work and tried to get a job. that isn't the people that are talked about when referencing people who can work but CHOOSE not to. there is a difference.

i am not derailing the thread, but if newt feels similar to this regarding the palestinians i do not want him in office. anyone know his views?
Probably the same as Obama's view.
i somehow doubt that newt would publicly say that israel's continued settlement expansion is the main barrier to resuming talks, as obama has on numerous occasions. if anything, he would blame the palestinians and as obama has done, continue to have our un envoy veto things at the un that are favorable to palestine.
i would bet that newt, perry, mitt, all would be the first one to line up behind israel in attacking iran to take out their nuclear plants and change the regime...

Just watch a debate, then you wouldn't have to "bet", you would be informed. All these candidates talked about it last night.

Just watch a debate, then you wouldn't have to "bet", you would be informed. All these candidates talked about it last night.
newt's a moderate really ... i don't think he is as pro-war as perry, santorum, romeny or bachmann
Gotta a source/link for that voter fraud info?
