Highlights from the GOP Thanksgiving Family Forum
Gingrich tells OWS: “Go get a job — right after you take a bath.”
Asked about the role of personal responsibility in society, Gingrich quoted John Smith (of Pocahontas fame): “In 1607 in the first English speaking permanent colony, [Smith said] to the aristocrats who had paid their way and didn’t want to work: ‘If you don’t work, you won’t eat.’”
The same principle, he said, should apply to Occupy Wall Street protesters, all of whom “start with a premise that we all owe them everything.”
They take over a public park they didn’t pay for, to go nearby to use bathrooms they didn’t pay for, to beg for food from places they they don’t want to pay for, to obstruct those who are going to work to pay the taxes to sustain the bathrooms and to sustain the park so that they can self-righteously explain that they are the paragons of virtue to which we owe everything”
“Go get a job,” he said. Right after you take a bath.”

ALSO, another WINNING idea from NEWT
Promising “extraordinarily radical proposals to fundamentally change the culture of poverty in America,” Newt Gingrich said that he would fire school janitors and pay students to clean schools instead.
Speaking at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, the Republican presidential candidate and former speaker of the House challenged laws that prevent children from working certain jobs before their mid-teens.
Gingrich blames “the core policies of protecting unionization and bureaucratization" for “crippling” children.
“It is tragic what we do in the poorest neighborhoods, entrapping children in, first of all, in child laws, which are truly stupid,” he said.
”I tried for years to have a very simple model,” he continued. “Most of these schools ought to get rid of the unionized janitors, have one master janitor and pay local students to take care of the school. The kids would actually do work, they would have cash, they’d have pride in the schools, they’d begin the process of rising.”
Gingrich, who over the weekend said Occupy Wall Street protesters should "get a job" and "take a bath," suggested during the Harvard appearance Friday that poor children need to build a work ethic.
"Get any job that teaches you to show up on Monday," he said. "Get any job that teaches you to stay all day even if you’re having a fight with your girlfriend. I mean, the whole process of making work worthwhile is central."

This has got to be just another sad cry for attention from a blatant troll, no? (talking about Newt, honest )
The OP is representative of the GOP base.. I like your avatar unsung..
Poverty is very much a cultural issue and will not be solved with "splitting the pie" or whatever Obama said to "Joe the Plumber". Redistribution of wealth is not going to solve the problem. Education and work ethic is what is going to solve the problem of poverty. This is what Newt speaks to in the above. I suppose he may have lost the janitor vote in his comment and I see that many of you focused on "the poor janitors". That is not the big picture.
God Bless America.
WOOT FOR NEWT!
Because 'God' distributes 'blessings' according to the artificial borders of nation states?
God Bless The Federated States of Micronesia.
Hail, Hail!!!
newt wants kids cleaning schools? that is fine to some degree. moral of the story is the janitors stay and the kids should help more with cleaning schools. i vote newt go on a diet himself. newt might wanna get in line at the soup kitchen down at the church instead of dining for 2 whole weeks with his wife on a luxury cruise ship in the mediterrean sea.
janitor or newt? janitor or newt? janitor or newt?
newt gingrich...you sir are a giant turd. fuck you. and shame on you for picking on the small guy.

It doesn't surprize me that you have flipped on the candidates more than king Flipper himself Roomney , who you gonna jump on next :P Newt is a joke but i guess better than the other poor saps you call President worthy .....
The ONLY way we have a GOP president in 2013 is if unemployment doesn't drop (which it is) or if the economy doesn't rebound (which it is).

Why not have one master lunch lady too and have the kids prepare food while we are at it? You could probably save money by firing all the elementary teachers and having high school kids teach those classes.
Doesn't his campaign manager have some device to alert him to close this mouth ... oh, that's right, they all quit.
quitting. toow.
I'm getting this cartoon tattoed on my arm.
Seriously, can any Newt supporter answer this? Is there going to be a committee in the schools who decides which kids lack work ethic and which don't?
Where I'm from, the poorer kids are the ones with jobs, and the rich kids are the ones with no work ethic who's parents buy them hummers...
That's unfortunate

And to add still more insight into his lack of touch with reality, I used to live in Newt's congressional district in suburban Atlanta, until about 6 weeks ago. I lived there for 15 years.
I am a CPA with a sterling resume who was laid off from IBM (who is offshoring every job not nailed down) in March of 2010 and COULD NOT FIND A JOB of any kind in metro Atlanta, where the housing market is down over 35% (making just about everyone upside down in their mortgages and the foreclosure rate one of the highest in the country) and where the 'official' unemployment rate is about 10%, but where, once the people who have been jobless for so long they have lost their benefits are factored in, is closer to about 16%.
I looked HARD for a job for 16 months before finally giving up and moving back to Anchorage, Alaska to find work - a 5,000 mile+ move that was NOT cheap. I still own my home in Atlanta (which I am now sporting a paper loss of $50,000 on) and have an apartment here as well...so I'm poor as a fucking church mouse and can not contribute to the so-called 'recovery' via any sort of consumer spending. But at least I can put a few groceries on the table again. Even if most of the time, that means rice or spaghetti.
That Newt, who ought to know about current conditions in Atlanta for unemployed professionals, would talk this sort of trash is reprehensible. If he thinks the maximum unemployment benefit in Georgia ($330 per week) gets a professional person with a mortgage very far, he is fucking HIGH. Professional people all over town are losing their homes and sleeping in their fucking cars...and apparently, Newt thinks it's because they are 'lazy'.
Fuck Newt. And the horse he rode in on.

i believe that some here would say that you should have worked 3-5 part time jobs to cover the loss of your professional job such as at burger king or target and then buy your shampoo in bulk and eat kraft dinner every night until you could get a better job ... complaining is not taking responsibility for your life ...
i'm sorry to hear about your situation - it's probably a common story in a lot of places ...
Cant there be an allowence just for usamamasan1? he's rather special.
and what of politicans responsibility to the people... whom without they wouldnt even have the cushy job they have.
