A few months ago i went through my ipod and made not of how many bands i've seen that are on my ipod. Now that is not all the bands i've seen, but a good bit of them. My count was 126.

I am always actively looking for good music so a lot of times i get to see bands whent hey aer first coming out at a club for 10 dollars instead of catching them as they are bigger and chargine 25 then 40 then 60 then 100 for a ticket.

It is the only way i can get my live music fix on my budget :)

(sorry don't have time to list but if i'm bored this weekend i'll come back and do it)

I was hoping nobody would see this. I was young and in love, so I got my girlfriend at the time a ticket. Thankfully she's out of my life now; I can't have a relationship with someone who put me through THAT.

Edited to add - You get a pass anyway for having the Dresden Dolls on your list.

Should have been twice, but I didn't go to my second opportunity since I couldn't convince anyone to go with me. I've learned the error of my ways and am willing to go to shows solo when needed. My new year's resolution this year was to go to no crappy shows (ie, Disturbed), and not miss good shows (ie, PJ, Liam Finn, Deftones, etc.). So far, so good.

I think I've been to most of my concerts by myself...I'd rather go by myself than have someone there who's not enjoying it.

Their studio work is much better than the live show. One show was enough for me, the second and third were formulaic and dull. And I'm no fan of guitarists who spend an entire show watching their fingers, trying not make any mistakes; know your instrument, goddamnit!

Prior to this year I'd only seen one show solo. In 2011 I've seen 8 shows alone (with two more upcoming); if I hadn't, I would have missed out on some of the best ones, including three Pearl Jams.

Exactly. I've given up going to the shows where I'd be the guy not enjoying it, and dragging people to shows knowing they'd whine the entire time. I'm having a blast going to shows alone.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers (1x)
    Wilco (x4)
    Bob Dylan (x1)
    Soundgarden (x1)
Guns N' Roses (x1: original lineup, opening for The Cult back in 1987)
    Midnight Oil (x1)
    Los Lobos (x1)
    B.B. King (x1)

    Ben Harper (x1)
    The White Stripes (x1)

    Sam Roberts Band (x4)

I could list more, but I'd be sitting here typing all night.
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

    -Tom Waits

  • Their studio work is much better than the live show. One show was enough for me, the second and third were formulaic and dull. And I'm no fan of guitarists who spend an entire show watching their fingers, trying not make any mistakes; know your instrument, goddamnit!

Oh bummer... I don't care too much about guys looking at their guitars but I guess that's a personal preference.

    Disturbed? Crappy?

    Disturbed are really cheesy.

As many of you guys have pointed out, I think it's way better to go alone to a show than drag along someone who won't enjoy it. I have also been solo to a number of gigs (only downside is you can't rave about it with people who know what you're talking about afterwards!)

    Pearl Jam x3
    U2 x3
    Social Distortion x4
Red Hot Chili Peppers x 2
    Metallica x 3
    Guns n'Roses
    Aerosmith
    Deep Purple
    Nirvana
    Jeff Buckley
Sex Pistols (Filthy Lucre tour, never did a tour bear so apt a name)
    Faith No More
    Soundgarden
    Placebo
    L7
    Cypress Hill
    Rage Against the Machine
Prince (last June, ranks right there with the very best shows I have even seen)
