    Funny story:

So my wife and I carry forth w/ our Austin trip last week despite Ed not playing. Wednesday, despite having tickets to the postponed S.A. show that night, turned out to be an incredible day. We have a lazy morning, ride 15 miles of top notch mountain bike trails in Barton Springs, see Heartless Bastards play an in-store performance and Waterloo, down some delicious homemade veggie burgers at Woodland in SoCo then go to the Black Keys show. All in all, a day that ranks w/ the best of 'em for us.

So after the Heartless Bastards' performance I finally pick up a copy of The Mountain on vinyl and get them to sign it. Erica signs last, and, before she does, I ask if I can make a special request. She's very accommodating and says, "Sure." I ask if she'll sign it, "Sit straight, think still." It's from one of my favorite lyrics by her from "No Pointing Arrows" off All This Time where she sings "I could not think straight and I could not sit still, and I could not sit straight and I could not think still." Fantastic play on words IMHO and captures the essence of the sometimes impossible task of quieting out minds for a few moments. Anyhoo, she proceeds to sign "Sit stralt, think still" followed by her name, pauses before handing it back, ponders, asks the bassist sitting next to her, "Did I do this right, I think I wrote 'stralt'?". He shrugs somewhat disinterestedly, she gives me back the record and I thank her and walk out of the store with a bemused smile.

i doubt it. we're not sure where we'll be living yet....if we're still in TX looking for jobs, we may try to make it to ATL...but that's a big if & a longshot at best. we hope to be out of here by the end of the summer.

Saw them at the record store this afternoon for a short acoustic set. They only played 5 songs, 4 off their new album and 1 older one. Pretty awesome, I would love to see them in full concert with a full set though. Cannot stop listening to the new album too. So good

saw the Austin city limits performance last night. (Was flipping through channels- and it was on). Awesome. Loved hearing the interview with Erika about her dad buying her a guitar, and how she got into music. Love how she said she always has a melody in her head.

Austin's The Heartless Bastards stopped by North Avenue Studios to play a couple songs from their latest release. This one is called "Parted Ways" and it's awesome! Brought to you by Consequence of Sound and North Avenue Studios.
